  1. Can someone do me a favour and show Sutton how to hold a ball up and not just get rid of it straight away. He's the worst link up striker in Scotland. 3/4 of our attacks fall down when he gets the ball.

I used to think that if a ball came below neck height, he was excellent at knocking it on, but awful with the headers. It's all falling to bits now though.

  2. I fail to see what twardzik has done to justify being dropped in favour of Nielsen!

I believe it all stems from being three full inches smaller than Nielsen, and at a miserly 6 foot, shotstopping and general ability be damned.

Well, that or folk have very short memories regarding Nielsen and his panicked turkey act.

  3. Or when you're struggling so badly for bodies that you'd sooner hang one out to dry out of position (Ferguson) than have an older player look uncomfortable (Reid).

Or when you've shuffled as many older options out of position as you can that really, you have to throw one in to make up the numbers.

Even as we've done well in the league, youth development and man management of youth has been one of McCall's weakest areas. Even our promising youths have utterly stalled under him.

  4. Like underboyleheating and many other WELL supporters I've lived through a few grim seasons but don't think it's the right time to change the manager. Can't think of who I would have as a new manager .Fitness ,passion, effort all lacking this season . Don't know why ,obviously money or lack of it a big factor at Fir Park this season not enabling Stuart McCall to replace those who have left, not only this season but over the past few. Don't know what people are looking for but at the very least the players should be bursting a gut for the club. Confidence boosting win needed and may help. COYW>

I appreciate the sentiment, and I agree that there is no obvious successor, but realistically, were McGhee, Gannon, Brown or McCall logical successors, or did we think outwith the horrible, shite stained box which most SPL teams recruit from and actually boost our prospects from there, through nothing bar some basic invention?

I agree, the players selected should be bursting a gut, but the buck stops with the manager as regards piss poor motivation. His men, his poor formation, his unbalanced squad, his folly.

  5. Cheers, complex business I gather.

Whatever the detail, I think Faddy is one of these players that needs the very best monitoring and treatment to get the best out of him.

Very much so, to the point that we, as students were generally kept away from muscular (etc) injuries. Very specialised toward either doctors/surgeons or physios. And even within that, he seems a complex case, with back and knee issues as opposed to a solid and singular area.

  6. I said much the same at the game, the whole things very odd.

Ten minutes to go, Angol having to go off and space is vacated on the left. Do you bring one of the clubs brightest talents, a boy who got 7 goals and 12 assists from the left wing for the youth team last season, a player who could go on to be a big player and make money for the club?

Nope, let's bring on 25 year former Alfreton Town right back Josh Law who's looked nothing more than a struggling conference player out of his depth in his dozen or so starts for Motherwell so far this season instead.

I'm not heaping pressure on Thomas to be the solution to all our problems or anything like that, however giving him a 10 minute run out in a game like that today was hardly going to do the boy any harm. He could hardly put in a worse display than his experienced peers and who knows, he may have been able to add a bit of spark to proceedings? Certainly whenever I've seen him in either the youth team or first team friendlies, I've been very impressed. He's a natural left winger with pace, skill, the ability to beat players, create chances and pops up with goals as well. All things our team desperately lacks at the minute.

When he sees McCall give Vigurs, Angol and Law a chance at left midfield today, none of whom are natural left wingers, while he's sitting kicking his heels on the bench must be a real boot in the baws for the boy.

Fully agreed, and entirely representative of the short-termism which has realistically been rife at the 'Ark since McCall took over.

  7. So, I suppose that in that, I've directly contradicted myself.

It is possible to play with a torn hamstring, but you'd have to be straddling the border of strain and tear. A bad tear would preclude any form of sporting activity on that leg.

  8. My suspicion is that it's either been a severe strain, and poor management of that has led to a minor strain, or it's a low grade tear, which has happened near the end of that period.

I would doubt that he played with that for an extended period. Possible, but very unlikely unless minimal.
