    Josh Law

I can't help but feel that he is a good, solid, sprightly full back. He's no world beater, and he makes errors, but why is he subject to such oppobrium from people who ostensibly support Motherwell? He was arguably our player of the season last year and has worked at a thankless task behind Ainsworth, an attack minded winger if ever there was one, in trying to protect our right flank, despite some bizarre managerial efforts to shoehorn him in elsewhere. I'm clearly not naive enough to suggest he matches Kaiser (one of my all time Well favourites) or even Quinn as a top class right back, but I can't help but wonder why his every move seems to be under a harsher spotlight than the average Well player. Is it due to his brother, his McCall link, or am I just mad in believing that he is a good, honest workhorse who has been played out of position by a clutch of poor managers, and should be classed as being unfit to wear the shirt ?
  2. Another thought which I didn't mention. At three one down, on about 8 separate occasions, we looked to move forward. This was made nigh impossible by the fact that we repeatedly had 5 men (and a keeper) behind the sodding ball.
  3. Law, then Moult, then Grimshaw. Marvin Johnson in flashes, I suppose, and Kennedy didn't do much wrong, but the first three stood out.
  4. A few thoughts. Thoroughly enjoyable game, lit up by that screamer from Vigurs and a great shot from Grimshaw. Both sides looked dangerous going forward, and in all honesty, Inverness were just more clinical, and after they had the lead, were clever in protecting it. Law had another excellent game, and the vitriol hurled at him for the 1 in 10 passes which he misplaces is beyond ridiculous. Grimshaw was also fairly impressive. Tenacious and up for the battle with their midfield. Moult...I still don't feel looks great, but he tries like hell, and is scoring when no-one else is. Love the guy, despite his flaws. On the other hand, another moronic showing from McManus. Giving away a penalty, and then a 95th minute red card. Our defence has been shocking for a few years now, and he appears undroppable. I'm just glad he's stopped launching the ball at whoever he sets sight on up front. Chalmers looks woefully out of his depth. I appreciate he's a back-up for Hammell, and he may well develop into a good player, but for now, he looks rotten. Subs had zero impact on the game. And as for their time-wasting, and Craig Thompson's overall performance...fuck sake.
  5. 4-1. I can just see it being one of those weeks where things click and we look good. Gets the hopes up.
  6. I suspect a win here. 2-0 and looking like a team that knows what a football is.
  7. Weeyin, you can't be talking about managerial formations surely. McGhee is the savior and we are fortunate enough to see his moves
  8. I liked Darren Smith. He always looked more of a trier than a player. Nice boy but nah
  9. Fuck sake. Are we due a wee resurgence where the boo boys are baffled because Josh Law is perfectly adequate? They must be sharpening the pitchforks for the next target!
  10. No worries folks. Get the top two teams in the division out the road and the season kicks in next week. ...aye.
  11. Both doing well for themselves. In the second division. Against part time teams. At their level. Good luck to them. 500x better at football than I ever could have been!
  12. Surprised not to see more Bob McHugh on here. There was a lot of clamour to get him in the team a while ago, when it was clear he was pump.
  13. Agreed, but if not for Butcher, would a maverick like McFadden ever have seen game time? I would say that the salient point of Butcher being the right man at the right time is entirely correct. He gave us a rallying point, and I'll always respect him for that.
  14. I only started listening to the podcast the other day. I've since listened to 6 episodes and it's excellent stuff. I'd have struggled to attend this midweek however. Gutted for the guys that it didn't get a better turnout
  15. Some suberb responses on here folks, spanning through a good number of years. Great to read about some crackers I was too young to see and even better to be reminded of some games which I had the good fortune to attend. Ups and downs, always, but what a club. Mon the Well.
  16. Yes! Been trying to remember his name for a while.
  17. Impostor - actor, beguiler, bluffer, charlatan, cheat, con artist, deceiver, empiric, fake, faker, four-flusher, fraud, hypocrite, imitator, impersonator, masquerader, mimic, mocker, mountebank, pettifogger, phony, pretender, pseudo, quack, scorner, sham, sharper, shyster, trickster. God, but that word is getting on my tits. Some variety?
  18. Then they'd revolt because he'd fucked up their golfing schedule, shut down and get him sacked.
  19. Ripley needs to cut out the number of times he punches a shot straight into the centre of our box. Did it twice in a row from shots down his throat today. That, and distribution seem to be his weak points.
