  1. Casagolda is a legend!

The reason he wasn't playing for Motherwell this season was due to him getting him speech ready to receive the ballon d'or this year.

But messi bribed him a belter so he decided to let him have it

  2. Close but no cigar! Was on loan at Dumbarton!

pfffttt thats what i get for playin footie man too much i forget where players get sent out to! haha

Im sure he only played a handful of games at Dumbarton, didn't score

  3. All this talk of strikers has got me thinking, what happened/is happening with Gary Smith...? I seem to remember him featuring in one first team game and he doesn't seem to have been heard of since. Perhaps not surprising with Sutton, Murphy, Gow, Blackman, Casagolda and McHugh being ahead of him in the queue for the last six months. With three of them away but again talk of us trying to bring in a forward, just wondereed whether he had been discarded...

He was on load to Albion Rovers till This Month

  4. NOOOOOOOOOO CASAGOLDA!!!!!

gutted you never got your chance to be the new marco negri of scottish football!

gives us a bit more money to be invested in new players unless teams like Fleetwood beat us to them! :D

  5. See some paranoid Sellick fans want Crags to be taken to task over his comments on Sportscene last night. Noticed a boy at work reading this today.

    Clicky

    Idiots

My mate at work is a diehard selic fan and even he's embaressed of his own team,

You notice how everything that shows selic in some kinda negative light they want justice!

but they dont seem to want justice when their ripping up chairs, protesting about the poppies, questioning refs integrity and wanting a ref sacked

I've never seen as much 2 faceness in my life

  6. If he's good enough then fair enough, but I haven't seen enough of him to judge.

Saying that, I don't want to see everyone get games 'just because' they came through our youth set up. I think I've saw every senior game Boab 'shags the birds' has been involved in, and while Im happy to say he might be a prospect eventually, I haven't seen anything (yet) to suggest he is going to be what we need upfront. Infact, I would rather see what Cassagoldust can offer us.

+1 hope boab produces something haha

I only thought of Pollok because he can play the same place as Fitz

  7. I dont see a problem in signing an out an out left winger. Yes, there will be certain games that we can't afford the luxury of two wingers, but there will also be plenty of games that Lasley and Jennings can more than cope in the centre allowing us to exploit down either flank.

A left winger would be a very valuable addition to our squad. IMO.

    What about Jamie Pollok?

I would love to see him get some more games

  8. Even thought Lasley doesn't have a thundering shot i feel he contributes a lot to the team. He is a play maker who site behind the strikers to feed balls through (Well thats what should be happening)

Jennings sits further back to break up the play and start the attack going again.

Always feeding to Humph im not to keen on, now that Murphy drifts back to the left more tends to give us another threat now (eg sutton's 2 goals)

and yes we do have at least 3 defenders who can strike a ball so were not so bad at striking from distance something i wish we would do more

anyway we won 4-0 against a hard team, the boys done us proud

  9. I think our priority should be with Jordan Halsman,Stevie Lawless,Steven Meechan + Peter Innes rather than Fitzpatrick. These 4 boys were the cream of last years u-19s,play left mid and centre mid,are highly regarded in both the Scotland youth setup + by the clubs theyve been loaned to, and are out of contract in june. Surely it makes more sense giving them a run and seeing how they cope than wasting money (no matter how small an amount it might be) giving yet another extension to Fitzy, who has shown he aint really cut out for SPL 1st team footie with the fact he`s never held down a starting slot in 5 or 6 years

    + 1

Halsman and Meechen were loved by their respective club Abion Rovers tried to tie Meechen down on a longer loan but he wanted to come back and impress McCall

I just cant see how to justify giving Fitzy more years where he could go to like Partick Thistle and make a succesful wee career

  10. Do you know that reynolds game or are you guessing? Plenty of rumors suggesting club and player are not on best of terms after rangers 1m bid was knocked back, agent attempted to get decent wages for his 1m+ player and was hunted. Just a rumor tho

I think their might be some legs with that story though because ive heard it as well. I read an article on BBC last week from 2008 when it was clear that Reynolds wanted to join Rangers.

  11. Can't compare Jamie Pollock and Fitzpatrick. From what I have seen Pollock is more of a winger. We really don't need a winger, nor do I buy this crap of needing a left midfielder while we have Fizzy. I think if we get a left winger in the Humphrey mould we could suffer because Murphy would be stuck more centre and although Murphy is never a left winger, he is one of these strikers that is more effective if given the right to roam to the wing, especially the left, like he did most of yesterday - and he does for Scotland ( a little like Villa for Barcelona/Spain).

Fizzy brings a natural balance, and allows Lasley to get forward more, not to mention natural cover for Hammell - something Hammell has not had in a very long time (and Reynolds when he goes on one of his daft runs). I'm unsure a winger could do such a thing.

I never really thought about it along that lines, it would benefit Murphy a lot with a left midfielder. Im just still not sure it's Fitzpatrick we need there, i hope im wrong and he goes on the rest of the season and is fantastic ill be the first on here to say sorry to him and everyone else haha

  12. Eh, that can work both ways. Although I thought Fizzy played very well yesterday if he wasn't given a call it was an even dafter pass than I thought. There was no danger, and there was no need for a shout as there was no "man on" so it was a poor pass because, for once Hammell decided not to move from his left back position - instead Fizzy had all the time in the world to look up and even if he wanted to bring the ball forward.

There is nothing in it to say Hammell should have progressed at that very moment, when you have a left back, a left midfielder and a striker who you can tell has been told to come wide left at any opportunity.

Im glad someone agrees, It could have been match rust and he could have just got a panic on and not known what to do (it happens to me all the time at 5's haha) but to me it summed him up. No matter how my opinion comes across i do like the guy but i just dont think we should keep him longer. He will improve with first team games and he wont get that in Motherwell i feel and his wage could be used to bring someone else in who can cement that left wing down as their own

  13. Well i did actually state i think he's a great squad player. can play a number of positions down the left and centre. And also if you look i did say it could have been hammy's fault for that stray pass im not giving all the blame on him for that one.

Your right in what you say, if you've seen him play and seen things you like and think he's a valuable player for the team then that's fine your entitled to your opinion and i am as well. And in my opinion i have yet to see something since the Semi final goal that i really like about the guy.

As to who i would rather have, im afraid i cant answer as i dont know the wages available or who would be interested in joining that's Mr McCall's job and not mine

Sorry i forgot to mention i would like to see Jamie Pollok down the left side a few times Gordon Young thinks very highly of the man and he is being touted as a big player in the future so i would be interested in seeing him getting more time

  14. Eh? That's porridge dribbling that is.

So, like others, no matter how the lad performs you'll find criticism... Bravo. With regards comparison as to what the housewives choice and Jennings do - it's about how the midfield unit perform no? For that young Fitzpatrick offers a balance that we've lacked for a long, long time. Great if possible mind, but, left side of midfield isn't all about attacking the opposing right hand side and whipping in crosses with pinpoint accuracy.

You've mentioned the stray pass in the first half. Were you aware he wasn't given a call? Hammell, one of our most consistent over the last year even eclipsed his shit Hamilton Accies display, should have progressed from his standing spot.

Used up 9 lives? A valuable squad player, better quality replacement would be expected to hit first eleven. Budget constraints, who would you find as an alternative?

Well i did actually state i think he's a great squad player. can play a number of positions down the left and centre. And also if you look i did say it could have been hammy's fault for that stray pass im not giving all the blame on him for that one.

  15. Gow

Best game he's played for us didnae waste a single pass :P

See the part where he skinned the entire team, then took the ball into the stand and had a game of head tennis with a few lads, then hit the crossbar from the halfway line and smashed home the rebound from 60 yards out?

So a quiet game from gow i guess

  16. Hately's best position is right-back, he skooshed the game yesterday and I'd be inclined to leave him there for the forseeable and allow Saunders the opportunity to fight it out with Hutchison and Page for the soon-to-be-vacated centre-half role, and potentially 2 if Craggs hangs up his boots at the end of the season.

    .

    +1

  17. a bit harsh on fitzpatrick i think

yes he misplaced some passes yday, but several players were guilty of that. its just that some appear to notice it more when its him

i agree that he aint no world beater, but he does a job

he does alot of dirty work, that no one else wants to do - and that goes unnoticed by some

and on the subject of some fans who were majorly critical of big John - i hope you are eating your words!!!!

Im soooooo sorry guys but i hate that phrase, What does Fitzpatrick do that Lasley doesn't do? or Jennings doesn't do?

i agree he's a great squad player but at one point he passed to the left thinking Hammy would be there and it went out for a throw in, now that could be hammy's fault or not but you at least should look before you make a pass.

Another Subpar performance from the guy i think he's used up his 9 lifes at Motherwell anyway with constantly getting extentions and never performing

  18. Jennings for me boys

Hasn't played a game since Hearts and was under a lot of pressure to perform, came out played typical Jennings style winning 50-50's,controlled the midfield allowed Lasley to move forward and help out

And he also ran like 60 yards to square go the mutant Griffiths top performance!

  19. This isn't a criticism of the new manager or the caretaker. It's just to stimulate a debate and see how opinions lie among the support.

Everyone is universally applauding the change back to the same starting line up and formation that saw us do so well in the European games/first few weeks of the league. Combine that with the universal lacklustre performances since we played St. Johnstone, it was refreshing to see some fluidity and passion again.

There is no doubt that Murphy and Sutton are working well and complimenting each other, the midfield look a little more solid, granted the defence hints often that its very close to a car crash, however that's 2 clean sheets now.

With all the plaudits and back slapping getting thrown about, how many changes would we have witnessed today in personnel, positioning and tactics if Gow and Blackman has been secured up until May?

The thing is im glad's Gow has left and even though im a big fan of his im glad Blackman wasn't here for a game ive always been a big fan of Sutton and Murphy great strike force that complament each other

A bit worried about Fitzpatrick playing i hardly noticed him during the game i kept forgetting he was there he never really done anything in my opinion but it was either going to be him or jamie pollok on left wing

  20. Had a great day at the game today, great banter and great result.

It was good to see the 'old school' out on force today. You no the guys i mean... those that came in late and left early!!

Im just hope'n they got what they went for as in my opinion thats what they see as all part of supporting their team.

I just wish that these guys would follow us to more away games...i no their apperance is tradition in Scottish Cup.

Seriously? I had no idea Motherwell fans have to stay to the final whistle?

There can be loads of reasons why fans leave early as long as your there for as long as you can make it why does it matter?

For the 6-6 game folk left at half time that's their own fault if they left the same with todays game

  21. You know what - I'd rather see John's rants better timed to be honest.

He looks like a bit of a dick when he reacts to events as and when they arise.

Lets have the boot put in in the run up / debating / discussion to these events John. Lets hear it then - not after we've had these proposals - that Motherwell played a part in ar announced. It looks like sour grapes from an unhinged individual

Like last years rant about lack of a home OF gate post split - get into it in the previous years when other teams are being affected - don't wait until it only affects us.

You knoe what Steve i would have you as my club rep! we've been talking about this for a few days.

I have no probs with JB havin a go at the old firm for the friendlies which is good but answer this.

IF now he's having a go and sounds like he's angry at them, where was he during the supporting commitee when Motherwell came across as a team who went for the top 10.

Have a go at me if you want peeps but it now seems to me that since this top 10 wont go through JB wants to come on the site of a team who approved so we look pro change
