There was a medical the day after the final planned (don't know if that happened) and Robinson shared on the podcast that he didn't notice the banners and bunting when being driven through Motherwell by Las because he was on his phone trying to secure players. Flow pretty much said the same.

I can only think the strips were delayed for new sponsor logo's (apparently still in negotiation) and maybe roll out the new players off the back of that. Otherwise you have to find someone photogenic who's in the area to go for a shoot.

20 quid and you can paint it on me Ayr United style.

  2. So we have had 2 large crowds at the finals this season, and also bumper support for the semi finals as well. It has got me thinking again of that old topic of support. The fact we sold out our allocation for the final goes to show there are "potential" numbers that are not showing up during the season. The question comes up again of why?

Obviously within this you have your day trippers, that will only come out for the finals. People who used to be regulars who have now dropped away is also a contributing factor. Sprinkled in are the neutrals and the fans of "other" teams.

But it begs the question, what could be done to turn the part timers and day trippers into more regular supporters, could the club be doing more?

For me, there have been a few things that stand in the way of the casual supporter.

First off, the cost. When I started going to Fir Park I went with a few friends, then with my cousin and my Dad, who I then went with for around 10 years or so. My cousin is now firmly in the "Scottish football is pish" camp and would rather watch the English football on TV than go to a Scottish game. For my Dad, its the money aspect, he can't justify to himself paying 20-30 quid a game. I am sure that most people on this forum have similar experiences with people that used to go and now don't.

The second problem is mentality. I think a lot of people treat going to the football as a day out, the same as the cinema, bowling or whatever. Trying to get them to switch from day out to thinking of it as more of a hobby is something quite difficult.

The third issue I find, and it is something the club could do something about very easily, is that the football is not in the minds of the community in the large scale. Unless you are a football fan, the fact that there is a game on doesnt even cross your mind, and it would cross your mind to find out. The club could be doing with increasing their PR and getting people thinking about the football. Unless you drive past the Fir Park area on Match day you would have no idea there is a game on in the town. Advertisement space is available almost everywhere now, information of when and where the team are playing should be displayed across the town every week. Hiring a few advertisement boards with dates and kick off times of the next few matches and a bit of Motherwell colour about them wouldnt cost all that much in the grand scheme of things.  Even have people handing out flyers in the town centre a few days before a home game with maybe a 10% off ticket price when you take it in to the ticket office kind of deal.

This is more of a vent but I was wanting to open up the discussion. I know its been talked to death before but with the crowds we have been taking to finals and semi finals its fresh in the mind again. Also the fact that the season is over and we have fuck all to talk about for the next several weeks.

I've seen Hartley's named mentioned as Captain a few times. He's definitely a leader on the park but there's far more to the role than firing the players up on a Saturday. I honestly think he's a wee bit too mental for it.

I would ha e thought Tait would have been the natural successor, wouldn't say no to Hartley though.

  4. I'm not being funny but I can't wrap my head around happy clappers, the " wasn't ment to be patter" just get me wound up, we never showed up and apart from a 15 minute spell Celtic were bang average, we just shat it.

I think today just proves to all that McHugh litteraly gets a start because he is captain. To be captain and be taken off so early in a final just shows where he should be in the pecking order, if it wasn't for the arm band he would have been warming the bench half the season.

Half of this is just salt rambling but I need to vent.

  5. My feelings about this one have been up and down, at times I think we might just do it, then at other times I've got the utter fear.

Right now, I genuinely believe we will do it.

I was 3 months old the last time we won a cup, so can't exactly remember it. I can fully appreciate the wonderful memories people have of that day, but now I want my own.

They're 7 quid each, but call it a tenner for the pair. We're going on the hospitality deal now, so I could give them to you about 11 o'clock on Saturday down there if that's any good to you. Think the 100 Club opens at 11 anaw.

That would be perfect mate, if you PM me your number I'll give you a phone or a text when I'm getting there so I can find you.

I've ended up with 2 spare tickets for the West Stand if anyone's interested?

Any Sellick fans sniffing about the forum need not apply.

Seen on Twitter there are a few Celtic fans saying they got their tickets from Motherwell. Bit disappointing. Can only hope they enjoy trying to hide their glum expressions when we score.

  8. Never got the train in to Hampden before, not entirey sure what the best way to go about it is. Somewhat apprehensive about it as Well, don't really fancy being stuck in a train full of Celtic fans. Anyone that's gone in by train able to point me in the right direction? I am assuming it would be mount florida I would be aiming for and would need to change over at central?

Can’t comment about the buzz in the home land but my house is proper buzzing.

The whole family is coming up for the game. This will be the Mrs first Well game and the kids first trip to Scotland and the weans are absolutely bouncing with excitement. My boy who’s only 6 knows every one of the squads names to faces and is having dreams about what Hamden is going to be like.

I think the Mrs is secretly more excited about having fritters (just don’t get them down south) and a trip to Cafe Shebab (does anyone recommend a better Indian buffet?) but putting that to one side, she’s even volunteering to wear a motherwell strip. For this to happen, it must truly be a monumental occasion.

on the topic of tickets, I was a telephone purchase and I had to wait. Having suffered by this with proper shite seats in 2011, I can’t fault the staff. A Well daft member of my group is travelling up with a double ankle fracture and is gonna be pretty immobile on the day. The team did a good job (even as a delayed order process) of giving us tickets that will be easier for him.

All the people I speak to have written us off and think I’m daft for being so optimistic but I cannot bloody wait for the game and I honestly think we are gonna piss on their chips.

    COYW !!!!

Cafe Shebab used to be the best but last time I was there the choice was poor and food was cold (although that was a while ago and I still over deliveries from them).

Pink Turban is honestly the best around IMO for an Indian.
