  1. Moyes doesn't want to keep Ruddy, he'll be recalling him to sell on the back of the reputation he's built during his time here, and he'll get a shedload more cash than we could ever hope to offer. I don't expect Lukas will get a sniff of first team action at Goodison...but it's a strange one as I don't see him having done well enough to get a decent move either. (not that he hasn't done well, but a 12-16 goal striker isn't as rare a commodity as a Ruddy-standard goalkeeper) Regardless, neither of the American boys will get first team action with us I don't think. As long as Lukas is here he plays.
  2. Is it Graeme Spiers at the door, wanting his voice back?
  3. Why would dropping the price of entry for a non-season ticket holder to £10 be more successful than dropping it to £0?
  4. Thats the main reason I think we would be able to cope with a blanket drop in ticket prices. The focus has always been on bringing back lapsed season ticket holders etc...and rightly so, but these days the cost of football means that fans will maybe choose only 5 or 6 away games over the course of a season that they particularly want to go to for various reasons (distance, cost, rivalry etc etc) and our safety net for dropping the prices would be provided by the fact that if we were to announce that it was a blanket £16 for an adult to get into Fir Park for the next 2 seasons, we would instantly become the away fixture of choice for potential travelling fans of every single SPL club. Thats over and above the difference it would make to our own support...and im sure every one of us know people who stay away because of price. In addition to that, our own away crowds would rise, because how many people do you hear saying "I dont go to away games anymore, because home games are expensive enough." Longer term other clubs would see that as a model, it worked...and they would eventually be forced to follow suit. I've actually laid out a plan for it in full a couple of times, and i've never come across anything to suggest that it wouldn't work as long as you get the pivot point correct between the amount you drop the price, and the amount of extra people who attend. Balance that correctly, and the very very worst you can do is maintain the status quo as far as gate income is concerned. Anything above that and you're making a better profit, playing in front of bigger total crowds (not just home crowds), and making in-roads to changing and reversing the SPL trend. It's an absolute fallacy to suggest that you need the whole league to change in order to make a difference. Anyone that believes that, just isn't putting enough effort into ideas. Lead...don't follow.
  5. The only downside I can see to this is that i'd struggle to get anyone to come along to the game knowing that they were gonna have to sit on their own, possibly rows or even sections away from they person they came with. Really don't understand the "whats in it for me though" stance from a season ticket holder. Initiatives like this aren't designed to benefit non-season ticket holders either, they are designed to benefit the club and the team!! My first point isn't a criticism at all, more of a reason why i'd struggle to take advantage of this particular offer...but good on the club for exploring possibilities and looking to maximize the gate.
  6. I remember being in the bottom 6 at one point, just before we played St Mirren. If they had won they would have been level with us on points. Can't remember when it was though...December sometime?
  7. Onside when the ball comes across and offside when the original shot goes away. that's how it looks to me. Close though.
  8. If folk can't afford to go to the football, or don't think £22 for a game of footy can be justified, then it doesn't matter if it's 0-0 or 10-0. You don't need to look into it any further than that.

Jennings for me, fast becoming my favourite Motherwell player by quite a distance.
  10. Im no actually sure which one of those i'd like most...thats a toughy. If I could only pick two, i'd ditch the performance and take the last two. I actually think we'll win fairly comfortably.

    St Mirren

Jennings by quite a distance I thought. Fantastic player.
  12. The first line of the article is "Walter, stop talking nonsense"
  13. Technically Gretna...but aside from them I think it was St Mirren when they were in the SPL the time before this.

Thats too much reading for me, but just to comment on the bit that stood out... Gary Caldwell is fucking god-awful Gaz
  15. I hope the STV have phoned Tannadice to break the bad news......

The thing I always remember was a high ball dropping right at our by-line with an attacker behind him...most defenders would just have shielded the ball and let it bounce out of play. Kaiser facing the by-line and about 6 feet away from it, with the striker tight behind him...waits for it to hit the ground and just as it does he Cruyff turn's it through the legs of the guy behind him....and plays a forward pass. I actually believe he would have come back just as strong after his injury, if he'd been allowed to wait until after his injury! In the last quarter of the Malpas season (when most folk say he'd lost it), he was playing without any rehab or reserve games to build up the injured leg again... AND broken ribs. Guy was, and still to this day is...gutted he had to leave.

Yeah I was on his testimonial committee...was well underway with the organisations when McGhee told him he'd never play for the first team again.
  18. Could we maybe sign Ruddy and the Juke up for 5 years of evening classes at College or somethin?
  19. Seriously? I'm sure you're aware of what things have a negative impact on the game in this country, same as anyone else that attends regularly.

Went for Sutton, really appreciate his style of forward play and is THE vital part of our attack.
  21. In the Cooper I was too far away to see the sending off, so still don't actually know what happened. Thought we were denied two stick-on penalties, one with Murphy skinning the left-back and having his heels clipped as he went along the by-line, and one when the ball came down out the air and 3 hibs defenders were all desperate to get to it first, John Rankin (I think), battered it out for a corner with his arm. As for the passback...right in front of me and looked a totally deliberate knock-back to Ruddy. I knew as soon as he gathered it in his hands there was only one result. I actually couldn't believe the ref took so long to whistle for it.
  22. Put a wee bit more thought into this there, and I genuinely believe that if this were to happen then it just provides the powers that be with an opportunity to claim that "we listened to what the fans wanted and made the changes", giving further opportunity to distance themselves from the REAL changes that should be made within the game, and overlooking what the fans would REALLY want. I can just hear it now, when football continues to go down the tubes for reasons we are all aware of, then anytime the governing bodies are getting any heat for not making changes they will just trot out with something like: "no-one can say that we dont listen to the fans or dont have their best interests at heart. They wanted alcohol to be sold within grounds, and we listened, so they are wrong to say we arent willing to make changes." Creating a new get-out clause for them at a time when their old ones are really starting to wear thin.
  23. I voted no, as I don't see the need for yet another place where people can have a drink. Plenty other things in the game that need changed to actually benefit, so id be disappointed if there was a focus put on something that doesn't matter at all.
  24. "Motherwell owner Al B sells club for 50m profit"
