Personally I think it was a kick in the teeth for Trevor, signing Fox and probably knowing they were after Kelly, I would have preferred Carson competing against Kelly than Fox but I am sure they have their reasons for letting him go ( I got told that Trevor wanted back to the North East of England but obviously that wasn’t the case)

I don’t know if Hastie was injured or what, but he certainly didn’t make the Rangers squad which contained a lot of their youngsters against Partick Thistle, His future at Rangers must be in doubt?

Did he play well? I was using Dunne as an example of a player being out long term, in my opinion players out long term are never the same player, I am sure there are players that have a long term injuries come back and play well, but I would think the majority struggle to get back to being the same player.

As much as I liked Trevor Carson and still rate him I am sure even the club realise that there is a problem fitness wise and probably suits both parties if he moves on. I also worry about our other long term injured players namely Donnelly and Grimshaw, (even Dunne)whether they will be fully fit for a full season ahead, long term injured players returning tend to take longer to be fit and whether they will be the same player remains to be seen.

I forgot about them…it doesn’t look good!!

So the first pre season game v Dumbarton ends in 1-0 defeat which is no surprise playing entirely different sides in each half, but the surprise is no Carson involved which suggests there is a fitness problem and with the club pursuing another goalkeeper it doesn’t look good for Trevor?

I thought that he was a good player a bit lightweight maybe but had a good football brain in him and would expect him to do well at Killie.

Does anyone know is our longtime injury players Donnelly and Carson fully fit again?

I hope this isn’t the quality of player for future signings? I know it’s a bit of a lottery for taking players in the non leagues of England, but surely we could get similar type players in the lower Scottish leagues? I take it that Jordan Roberts will not be available on loan this season?

Have to say that was my thoughts as well, that Carson might have fitness problems, let’s hope we have added 2+2 and got 20! On the player transfer or sorry non player transfer activity I would have thought that we have some kind of update from the club by now, I can guess it will be difficult to find replacements for Campbell and Gallagher but I am sure they will be working on it but will not be easy?

With Fox in goals, is there still a problem with Carson?

Very sad news, I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times through the exiles and was an absolute gentleman and most helpful. Will be truly missed. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. RIP Andy

According to my Rangers mate, he reckons that Hastie and a few others namely Jones and Middleton are going to be released of their contracts, whether that’s true or not it is not unsurprising, if we get Hastie for nothing I would be willing to give him a chance, but would prefer Jones if we had an option!!

I am certainly not in favour of Hastie returning, all I know for definite he will not be playing in the Rangers team next season and beyond!!

Have to say probably needed, out of the loanees I would love to see Robert’s and Kelly back although I believe QPR have let one of their goalkeepers go to Middlesbrough so maybe Kelly might step up? I also suspect Hastie might be back for another season on loan.

According to the Record we are favourites to sign Connor Sheilds from QoS, unfortunately don’t know much about him but was scoring for Q of S so maybe worth a punt

I hope GA was looking at the final as St Johnstone’s defending was magnificent curtailing Hibs to one genuine opportunity in the game, I would love us to see us defending like that!

I would love to think Moult could be a great signing but two words of caution Ross McCormack!!

Actually that sounds good and covers a few players rather than individual players, personally I think it should be left for a few years yet as hopefully we will have a hero in the future or get some sponsors name on the stand at leat we could get some dish out of it, I assume once it’s named there is no going back?
