  1. The past couple of years we've played the odd friendly against the likes of Alfreton Town, where you can not only buy a pint in the ground but take it back in to the terrace and watch the match while supping.

Unfortunately, as previously pointed out the minority of morons stop this from happening at "real" games. I remember my first ever visit to Fir Park, and I asked them which beers they were serving, cue the confused looks :D

  2. Judging by the profile on wikopedia ( for what it'sworth ) he might be a good prospect as you say. Seems like people feel he has the talent so needs the right environment or coaching, mentor, kick up the ass or whatever to improve. maybe another Ojaama ? McCall does seem to have a knack for getting the best out of players. However, having said that it comes down to the player in the end and if he really wants to get better or not. Sounds like a gamble and McCall will have to weight that up. We did'nt bet much on Ojaama and got a great return for the money plus some great benefit to the team.

But somehow "Silva the portugese winger" is more appealing than "Jack Smith from Airdrie"

He was supposedly the next Vaz Te after we turned his career around, but from the noises coming out of the club he just wasn't interested, didn't want to train and knuckle down. We ended up sending him out on loan to Dagenham & Redbridge before releasing him.

  3. I thought he was doing well and was a bit of a fans' favourite. Or has that changed?

Our fans love him, he seems to have really embraced Barnsley as his 2nd home. He runs around a lot and gives 100% but whether he's good enough for the Championship is another question. Can't fault the guys effort.

  4. Agreed. Used to love raiding through my dads stash, Grizzly was a personal fave.

Anyways seen Jim O'Brien earlier in amongst the 'Well support today. I assume he was just taking in the game as I haven't heard his name being touted about at any other club.

You're more than welcome to him if you want him back!

  5. This thread is an example of why i dont give two fucks about listening to all the transfer bollocks on TV and radio that goes on this time of year. And as for the papers.....God no!!!

I love listening to all the rumours, doesn't mean I believe any of them though. Some of them are comical too.

  6. Doncaster are doing that exact thing just now, wee tour of local non-league teams to kick off their preparations, do it every year I think. Frickley last Sat, Retford I think midweek.

We usually play Frickley Athletic and a few other local teams but our manager said he doesn't want to play them and risk the players against non league players who might fancy their chances taking out a professional. Instead of Frickley Athletic and Bradford PA we've got Club Brugge and Bordeaux!

  7. Is our bet still on then?!!!!! wink.gif And yes absolutely!!!! Good luck to the big lad I really hope he does himself proud!!!!

    Here we go:

"The reason we were in that position in thefirst place was the buffoon we had in charge up until January where we werelucky if we picked up 20 points. Since losing at Peterborough on 3rdJanuary I think we lost 5 games and were a completely different team. I’m happyto wager you £20 to the charity of your choice that we don’t finish in thebottom 5 this coming season."

Sounds good to me, looks like I need to buy a new spacebar on my phone though :D

  8. Yes, that is correct! Also Roy Essandoh skinning half the Ipswich team, rounding the goalie and then making an arse of it!

The same Roy Essandoh that knocked Leicester out of the FA Cup after answering Wycombe Wanderers teletext advert for a striker?

  9. Fraser Kerr signed on a 2 year deal according to Scott Burns on Twitter

He also says Neilsen is signing a 2 year deal this week and McManus is being looked at by us and Hibs in SPL and Barnsley and Ipswich down south.

Errr, you're welcome to him as far as I'm concerned :D

  10. Indeed. He'd have been mad to move for an extra £500 a week given we set up last season to play to his strengths but that's a wage hike hard to turn down.

Surprised that Barnsley were still interested given they've just signed O'Grady, another striker whose strength is playing with his back to goal and bringing others into play...

O'Grady and Jason Scotland(remember him?) were a fantastic partnership last season for us, but Scotland isn't getting any younger so IF we sign Higdon he'll probably be ahead of Scotland in the pecking order. We also released Marlon Harewood in the summer, so we're still looking to replace him.

We've only got 3 strikers at the moment: Chris O'Grady, Jason Scotland, Chris Dagnall.

Be interesting to know where the figure of £4,500 came from though.
