  1. The guy could sell snow to the eskimos.

"I will get Everton into the Champions League"

Will you fuck Roberto. Especially when Davie Moyes buys all your main assets.

I can't believe how such an under performing manager seems to get so much praise. Look at Tony Pulis. Has kept Stoke in the EPL year after year and done it quite comfortably and he gets sacked, while Martinez gets touted as the greatest manager in Europe.

    Baffling!

Difference is, Martinez played football, Pulis played the bullying, long ball game. Plus Pulis was far too old to wear a tracksuit!

  2. I must say though that the board are dealing with the Ojamaa issue correctly. He won't be leaving unless they get a good price for him

It's good to see the club not being held to ransom.

What do 'Well fans think of Clayton Donaldson? He seems to be linked to quite a few clubs in England, would he be a good replacement for Higdon IF he signed for someone else?

  3. Agreed, if you don't have Higdon in the squad, otherwise the games a bogey...cheers.gif

You're on, mate. I have nothing but total respect for Motherwell FC and their fans so it's a difficult subject to voice my opinion on, if we got him and he improved our team then I'm all for it, but I wouldn't want to see Motherwell lose out at the same time.

The only answer is to prize O'Grady away from the pigs!

  4. You could chip in for the steelmenonline player sponsorship....

He could when he loses the bet :D

I'm not saying we should/shouldn't go for Higdon or anything, just posting what I read this morning.

  5. A chance to play for the Reds in the Championship could prove too tempting to resist for Higdon.... With all due respect, the tykes escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth last season and under flitcroft I don't see them achieving much more than that next season, so don't see this being much more than tabloid shyte...

The reason we were in that position in thefirst place was the buffoon we had in charge up until January where we werelucky if we picked up 20 points. Since losing at Peterborough on 3rdJanuary I think we lost 5 games and were a completely different team. I’m happyto wager you £20 to the charity of your choice that we don’t finish in thebottom 5 this coming season.

  6. Barnsley are chasing Motherwell striker Michael Higdon.

The Star understands Reds boss David Flitcroft is a big admirer of Higdon, a player who scooped Scotland’s Players’ Player of the Year award last season.

Higdon netted 27 goals in 43 appearances in an impressive campaign in 2012-2013 for the Steelmen, one which also saw the 29-year-old hitman score nine goals in as many games. Higdon’s goals and match-winning performances were a significant factor in the club finishing second to champions Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

But the player also attracted headlines for all the wrong reasons when he was arrested on suspicion of assault at a Glasgow nightclub only a few hours after scooping his prestigious PFA award.

The Liverpool-born marksman, later released without charge, apologised for the misdemeanor and admitted: “I’m annoyed at myself for getting into a situation like that because it’s not me.

“I’m not the type of lads who goes out clubbing or to bars. I’m a country pub type of guy.

He added: “I should have known better than getting into that kind of situation.”

Higdon is currently a free agent after his two-year contract at Fir Park finished at the end of last season.

Motherwell were hoping to get their most prize asset with a new contract, but Higdon revealed: “I’ve just got to leave my options open and see what’s there at the end of the season.”

A chance to play for the Reds in the Championship could prove too tempting to resist for Higdon, although The Star understands the former Crewe, Falkirk and St Mirren striker has attracted interest from plenty of other clubs keen to secure his signature.

Flitcroft has expressed a desire for more firepower up front. The sale of Craig Davies last season to Bolton left the Reds short of attacking options, although Sheffield Wednesday loan signing Chris O’Grady and former Ipswich Town forward Jason Scotland helped the club retain their Championship status. Both players scored six league goals, while Chris Dagnall.

But although Dagnall finished the club’s overall leading scorer with 10 goals - five in the league and five in cup competitions - it was Davies who finished the club’s top league goalscorer with eight goals.

Defender Jimmy McNulty, meanwhile, is expected to pen his new one-year deal at Barnsley today.

He missed much of last season with a hamstring injury and played just 14 games for the Reds. But the versatile defender, who joined the club two years ago, is one of seven players to have been offered new deals by the Championship club.

Striker Jason Scotland has signed his new one-year contract, while defender Tom Kennedy and Kelvin Etuhu have both agreed to sign new two-year deals at Oakwell

  7. By the time o'brian left us he was playing a complete link up role from a central position and was the sole creative spark in a very differently functioning team to the one we have now. He was pretty good at it and was probably our most important player. Sorry but anyone insisting he was pish is blind to the game, as someone said earlier the manner in which he transfored his game while with us was extraordinary and he could be brilliant to watch. When he didn't play or didn't play well we were goosed, i seem to recall some awful game at hamilton when this occured. I also recall him getting called a 'useless tinker'' a lot from the stands - the same morinihos that spotted higdon's potenial no doubt.

Fuk it though, OJ all the way, unless we are an awful lot worse across the board i think he's going to be the main man next season.

I never knew he played in a central role for Motherwell too. So far this season due to injuries/suspensions/formations he's played in a 3 man midfield, on both wings, as a right back and a right wing back. We might even give him a stint between the sticks next season!

  8. Used to be restricted to those games, however, we seem to wear them randomly now. Probably contractually obligated by the supplier to boost sales. The silver kit was used a lot and was quite a lucky one for us.

That annoys me when we do that, randomly wear our away kit when the home kit will suffice!

I quite like your new away kit, the more I look at it.

  9. I remember a story years ago about Manchester United employing a couple of Germans to start writing songs for their fans to give them some originality.

My favourite of all time is the, "Your Dad's a c*nt, and so are you" aimed at Darren Ferguson.
