  1. I remember it as St J were all over us that day, we were living a charmed life. Hollis was unfortunate that it was only after he came on that things started to go right for them.
  2. Intersting comment from Neil Doncaster when discussing reconstruction, he says "After next season we go back to the old voting rules". Does that mean back to the 11 - 1 required to make changes? This would tie in with the fact that the SFA/SPFL and (possibly) Celtic hoped Rangers would move back to the SPL in successive seasons. Thereby giving the rest of the Clubs the illusion they matter but knowing they would have the stranglehold over all the teams again.
  3. Paul Lawson also on PFA website looking for a Club
  4. As someone who remembers why alcohol at football was banned I haven't seen any improvement in the Scottish mentality with regards the ability to handle alcohol in the 30+ years since the ban was introduced to justify its return. Whether or not we like it football and alcohol don't mix. Also for a Club like Motherwell the chances are any income from alcohol sales would be outweighed by the increases in the costs. Currently very few Well matches require a Police presence inside the ground, but do you think that would stil be the case if alcohol was on sale?
  5. I don't see how he can appoint 3 members onto the WS Board. At the moment there are 6 (or possibly even 7 if Douglas Dickie is still on the Board) Directors and a further 3 brings it to 9/10. Rule 53 state a maximum of 8. Also the Board composition under Rule 53 (a) states that "4 members of the Society Board (or such higher number as shall be required so that elected members of the Board are in a majority over co-opted members) will be elected by the members in accordance with such arrangements as shall be determined by the Society Board;" Then again maybe the Rules don't matter ....
  6. You'd think if they were going to send out a "begging" email someone would have proof read it to make sure it was consistent ... In summary, in return for pooling their resources and providing the loan it is proposed that the consortium members will receive the following key benefits: all benefits of the Well Society's amber members LOANS TO MFC BACKGROUND AND TERMS (k) All the benefits which accrue to an 1886 member of the Well Society will be available to a lender

Nielsen had 2 very good saves when the game was 0 - 0. Both from snap shots from MacKay. If either of them had gone in it would have given ICT a boost and we could have struggled as we were not playing particularly well on Wednesday.
  8. Wonder if McInnes will be called up by SFA for bringing the game into disrepute for criticising the refereee about Hutchinson's tackle?
  9. Couple of decent assists and we'll all be dancing on the ceiling
  10. According to BBC website, Scott McDonald has agreed a severance package to leave Middlesborough a year early.
  11. I don't see the former Morton guy we had on trial in Spain in either squad?
  12. For some reason, I seem to remember Leann saying that the voting requirements would change and required a certain percentage of the top league to agree and a percentage of the rest to agree for any major decisions. This would stop "the tail wagging the dog". But it was a while ago so I might have imagined (hoped) for this. As for the current 11 - 1, that will never change without a radical overhaul of all aspects of Scottish football as certain teams, for whatever reason(s), are allying themselves with Celtic and in other cases look as if they are preparing for the return of the other half of the Old Firm and wanting to be seen as their "friend". The rationale given for the 3 years without change was to introduce stability and make it attractive to sponsors etc. It all boils down to the fact that Doncaster et al have been pitiful with regards PR, they should have been making the information available regularly in a clear, concise manner ensuring that when an incorrect/misleading comment appeared in the Press that the correct facts were issued to ensure the fans were advised. That to me has been the biggest failing of this whole sorry escapade.
  13. The reason it was all or nothing, as was pointed out at the Well Society meeting, was that the Clubs were prepared to make concessions on the bits they liked less in order to get the bits they did like agreed to. Ok, so what's proposed isn't perfect but it delivers a number of the changes we are looking for eg voting, financial distribution, one league body. To effectively "cherry pick" the good points is unlikely to happen. as certain Clubs will continue to block progress unless it's on their terms.
  14. Also it means they would be eligible to play in the League and/or Scottish Cups so they could enter a "stronger" team for these competitions. Basically they get have their cake and eat it!!
  15. According to the Aberdeen sites, the game is all ticket. Has anyone else heard that? Seems a bit strange as hardly likely to be a sell-out and will discourage people turning up on the day.
  16. Unless there is a sudden sutained increase in our gates, or a fairer distribution of money in the SPL, then there will be no additional funds to use on purchasing players and that will be no different from the vast majority of SPL clubs. Even if there is a "saleable" asset the days of £1M+ deals are gone. We've been down the "throw money at big names" route and we're lucky still to be here. As weesacs pointed out we will be up against League 2 and Conference Leagues trying to get players and depending on their personal circumstances they might not want to uproot their families and move. I can see a year (or possibly more) of pain whilst we "blood" youngsters with perhaps the odd journeyman to provide experience and in one way that might benefit us in the longer term. McCall is on a hiding to nothing, the team he puts out is basically our strongest 11 with nobody on the bench that offers anything to change a match.
  17. Where do we go from here ........ we pick ourselves up, we dust ourselves down and we get on with it!
  18. The best bit for me was the fact that as the smoke started billowing across the field, the announcement over the PA was to remind fans that no smoking is allowed within Fir Park. Perfect timing ....
  19. Has there been a change to the site? I can no longer view any of the topics without now having to sign in. It's not a major problem but was always handy at work just to click on and see if there's anything new.
  20. I would have thought if you have a Season Ticket you should get into the U20 games for free.
  21. Phoned the Club this morning also will need passports when buying.
  22. The club say it will be Wednesday before they go on sale
  23. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts .....
  24. The Board of Motherwell FC asked members of the ‘Well Society and shareholders to vote on the question of whether Motherwell should vote to allow a ‘Newco Rangers’ to remain in the SPL in 2012/13 season. The results of the ballots returned were are as follows: Yes: 119 (18%) No: 542 (82 %) Votes not returned: 247 According to the earlier post earlier Motherwell FC had not issued the results as they were preparing a statement and Leann D was out of the office. So where is the statement? Also the count took a long time supposedly due to the large number of votes cast, according to this there were 671. Not exactly a massive amount that it took 3 days to count. Western Isles and Argyll and Bute can count the electoral votes covering a wide geographic area quicker than it took the Club. So do the Club think we are mushrooms and happy to live in the dark and be fed ....
