No. David Gray.
-
It absolutely would but I'm still going to be very sorry to see him go if he does leave.
-
It depends what the club feels is significant. The Bristol City rumour was 750k initially then it went to 750k plus 500k add ons. The only other club I've seen that are supposed to be interested in him at this stage is Charlton.

I think Murray will have a fair few offers that we would probably struggle to match - plus he's 32 - which some folks probably wouldn't be happy with. Although to be fair so is Van Veen and a lot of fans wanted him back. Just saw an interview with Kettlewell and he's just said that it's going to take a significant offer to prise Theo away from Motherwell.

Over the last twenty years we've been top 6 nine times and 7th twice. So on a good season we've got every chance of being sixth. But there's always the chance we might just miss out. And that for me just shows that unless a club is sitting in fifth or sixth place with no prospect of being caught then there's always going to be a few teams in contention for the last spot. Its a tight league and tbh unless we get a decent amount of investment into the club then I don't see how top six every season is feasible. We have a relatively small fan base. We are fan owned. This season we blew it for ourselves re top six. But we also had a squad with a lot of injuries. Players being recalled from loan spells. I don't think top six is an unrealistic goal to set, but I just don't see how it can be a minimum one unless we suddenly have a lot more money to spend and can compete with the teams above us in the transfer market. Killie are sitting fourth and could offer Van Veen 10k a week and we couldn't (no regrets over that). It's not an even playing field and surely that has to be a consideration when setting targets. I'd rather be a club that backed a manager who didn't get top six than have a revolving door of management like Hibs have.

Already seen Robbo McInnes and Lennon linked with it.
-
And the fact that we cant say no really because we aren't a wealthy club. I do think we do sell ourselves short at times though because we have had players who have made that step up and maybe at some point we can hold out for more money for our best players.
-
Aye. Get Bair and Spits to come on. Big sod as well. Tell folk how they could improve. 🤣.
-
Like other people have said we don't cash in on goalkeepers as a rule anyway. I just think it's a shame in a way - maybe because I think we might get sold short because we are Motherwell if that makes sense. On the one hand it's great that other clubs recognise the talent we have. I just think too many other clubs think they can get our players on the cheap. Just need to wait and see how it all pans out.
-
We don't know if he's going to improve or not as you say . I would suspect on current form that he probably would.
-
To be fair I think the only folk who put the top six pressure on our manager are folk on fans forums. Interesting that you've put Dundee Utd on there.
-
We can. If we can let Spittal go for nothing and Kelly go for nothing we can let Bair go for nothing. I absolutely agree with the fact that we will probably need to sell him but if we can let other players go for nothing at the end of their contract then why can't we keep Bair? Or at least hold out for a much better offer. 1.5 min before add ons in my view.

Someone just sent me a message on twitter saying they hope steelboy plays so they can critique him the way he critiques the Motherwell players 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Come on steelboy. You know you want to.
-
I got an email about it a few weeks ago but I agree. 😂. Fatso here broke her nose at the end of January and hasn't set foot in the gym since. I'd be blowing out my arse after five minutes
-
I get your point but I really don't want him to go. I don't think 750k is enough. Maybe he could just play shite for the next few games and no one will want him 🤣.
-
I'd rather keep Bair tbh. Even if it's only till January.
-
Yeah he did make the bench as far as I know. As for the other signing - I have no idea. That's all I've seen on him, speculation as to why he went home. I expect Kettlewell wanted cover incase of injuries. The other signing was a loan.
-
Just saw his photo on twitter and I was like who dat 🤣
-
I think it's sensible to budget for the worst case scenario financially which is tenth. Personally as a supporter I want to see Motherwell avoid relegation every year. Of course I'd love to see us top six every year but we don't do things the easy way - so safety first and anything else is a bonus. I don't think budgeting for tenth needs to turn into a lack of ambition because surely that's been our budget position for some time now.
-
Probably not tbh unless he goes in January or signs an extension. Just a shame that he's just coming onto his game and we'll probably lose him.
-
Another year I think.
-
Yeah. On twitter. Was it the well informed twitter account you saw it on? The rumour is 750k plus 500k add ons. The original rumour was 750k. I'd personally like to think we could keep him for another season.
-
Where has he said anything about pleading poverty recently? He's only spoken about Liam Kelly in the last few days. And maybe if he has spoken about not having a lot of money to spend in the past - it's because we don't have.
-
I don't think Kelly is average. I do agree that his performances have tailed off but as other people have said having a rotten defence hasn't helped him this season. I think he was outstanding in his loan spell. If he hadn't been as good as he was we wouldn't have pushed the boat out to get him back. And I also very much rated Gillespie and Carson. Ruddy too obviously. Gillespie also only got his chance because of Carsons injury. (that's not a criticism of him).

This. And you know looking back at this thread from the beginning. Are there many names that folk were saying that back then that they would rather actually have right now instead of Kettlewell? Loads of names were mentioned am sure including Levein. He's got loads of management experience and look at the position St Johnstone are in right now. Of course he'd made fuck ups along the way but a massive for me was that he didn't lose the dressing room when we were on that poor run.
