  1. Don't know how anyone can really argue with Flamurtari, after all hands up who knows the Albanian League well? I remember Igli Tare at Lazio, wasn't prolific by any stretch or a regular, but was a big powerful guy who would have had a field day gainst our defenders. Running the risk of sounding stupid, I would imagine a lot f Albanian footballers don't differ in physique and stature to players like Tare, which could really present a problem for us at set-pieces.

  2. Last week is the best I've ever seen Sutton play in a Well shirt, but that was against Welsh part-timers. I don't fancy us having to rely on Sutton as the pivotal point in Gannons formation as he's just not got the mobility, awareness or guile of a Porter-esque player and I'm pretty sure Paddy Swayze will be looking for another central striker on his shopping list.

  3. Yes David Clarkson is better than Obafemi Martins and Tuncay :notworthy: Aye right then.

Was thinking that myself. Where is Tuncay on that list? Easily head and shoulders above anyone in the Championship and at least half of the Premiership aswell. Maybe they are certain he won't be at Boro come the start of the season. Actually add in Digard, Gary O'Neil, Juli Arca, Afonso Alves, Mido and adam Johnson from Boro's squad alone.

Jonas Gutierrez (Argentina International), Damien Duff, Joey Barton, Habib Beye, Alan Smith, Geremi from the Geordies and it begins to make that list look daft

  4. Obviously you weren't anywhere near Edinburgh during the Heineken cup final or saw the semi-final, Leinster Rugby had 40k fans, so I would say they have pretty big draw, not only in Ireland, but also Europe wide.

  5. John Terry, Jermaine Defoe, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand.

All went on loan spells when they were younger to get experience, didn't do their careers any harm did it?

In Italy, unless the player is out of this world, most younger players will be sent to smaller clubs to learn until the larger club deems them ready for first team action at the highest level.

  6. My point is more around that there have been some bold statements made about the way business decisions have been taken, lack of due dilligence, getting into bed with the "first tart that drops her drawers", etc. All of which are a bit risky to make without the facts if you ask me. And I don't have any of them either btw.

Scotland rugby, Preston, Portsmouth & various top club rugby sides (league and union) have all been affected by this - why should our criticism of the motherwell decision be that - we're amateur, we didn't do due dilligence we never ran credit checks? The SFA are now in the same boat with Diadora.

Fully agree with both mate Its stupid to suggest that funding wouldn't have been in place from CCC, but who would have thought that they would have hit the skids so quickly? As I have said, CCC's situation seems to differ from Diadora UK as in their case it was more of a case of when not if the shit hit the fan. Look at the size of some the clubs/unioins that will be affected by this in the UK; Leinster Rugby, SRU, Portsmouth FC, Wasps, Cardiff, Irish RU, Glasgow, PNE. As you said, surely some of these clubs/unions should be coming in for some flak if we are?

With the SFA, they should be getting stick from everbody for agreeing to renew the contract with Diadora Uk as they were in troube for ages.

  7. I don't think they are that big an outfit - but know (not guess) that those involved in putting a strip together that met the fans wishes worked really hard on it. I know that they are as big a Motherwell fan as any of us other sad gits on here.

I think you're missing the point a lot of people are making, letting personal involvement with designers/staff cloud your judgement? People generally aren't complaining about the design of the strip, infacct most, including myself are pretty happy with it. The issue is quality of product. The Motherwell top is not the same quality as other Canterbury strips, eg Deportivo, Lille and AZ. I think thats what people are miffed about, infact some have said Bukta was superior in comparison which is hard to take considering the stature of the supplier. The fact that the designer is a Motherwell fan means absolutely nothing and I mean nothing. A good designer will make a product to sell as best as possible in the target market, so it wouldn't matter if they supported Grimsby as long as they produced the goods.

  8. So does anyone knoe what the score is yet?

After we were told the initial glum news it was a bit of a shock to be honest, though in todays current climate I don't see much hope for CCC UK unless Mike Ashley saves them. JJB are completely fucked and other major players in the sportswear are also having to change pants aswell. I'll try to keep folk informed with Canterbury's situation as and when details emerge. B-) Unless the Mods don't want me to...

The source is some guy, one of the top players in Canterbury, Most Revd & Rt Hon Dr R Williams, some guy :D

  9. I can.

Canterbury are not in liquidation and will continue to be our kit supplier. The away kit will be launched in August with the date to be confirmed.

    Cheers

    Alan

Found out on Thursday afternoon about Canterbury's problems from those ITK, my good friend onthefringes posted his response as soon as he heard from me. A £12m loss in the past year adding to their woes. Apparently Mike Ashley is a potential suitor for the business which would no doubt send them the same way as Diadora in the UK, cheap brand in Sports World. CCC outwith UK and RSA will be fine, 2nd biggest Rugby brand in the world and all that. The same as Diadora outwith the UK are sound as well.
