  1. Not long til the weekend. Thoughts on lineup?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Cifcti and Main start up top given the managers comments about the strikers not doing it.

Aldred straight in for Hartley or too risky?

A last appearance in the cup for Hammell before he retires at the end of the month?

Quite a few choices to make with only Frear and Petra likely to be ruled out by injury.

Reckon he should go 4 at the back for this one with ciftci and main up top however wouldnt surprise me if he goes kipre,Aldred and dunne at back

Either way I think it will be caden,McHugh, rose and campbell with Tait making the 5th in midfield and the two new lads up top

  2. Because he supported Rangers from a laddie ? Get a feckin grip. Thats as small minded as the gers support.

    Exactly

We sound as pathetic as old firm fans when I read this

We have had players that have moved to the old firm and back and have been former old firm players and signed for us and with the majority we cheer them on in claret and Amber regardless

The way we vilify a player when he says he supported either rangers or Celtic as a kid is utterly pathetic

When employed by motherwell so long as they give there all and dont go on about how much they love another Club then we have no reason to complain

Sign of the narrow minded nonsense that ruins the west of Scotland

  3. Thought we did well to get what we did for him but he is still the young player with lots of potential that was linked with rangers,Sunderland,Burnley, norwhich etc a few months ago.

Wee loan deal to put himself back in the shop window but if he does a job for us I dont mind at all

  4.

An interesting view. What I would say though is that I think the mentality/policy, call it what you will, has to be put in some kind of context in terms of where we are as a club - and equally signficant to add to that, where we were as a club, and where we're we hope to get to as a club.

You paint it as a dark, cold, emotionless policy. I rather suspect those in charge would feel a continuation of heavy losses and growing debt which nobody was remotely interested in taking on as long term project as a pretty dark and horrible place to be too.

So for the very survival and restructuring of the club as a whole I can't argue too much with the policy they've adopted over the past two or three years. And let's be clear, whilst I suspect you've pulled the £500k figure out of the air, the policy has brought in a good more than that.

There are two very important words in your post are these days.

I, and suspect most 'Well fans would be with you all the way that we would prefer a better balance of home grown players alongside the calculated gambles and the journeyman pros.

I would like to think that we'll evolve in that direction over time. Certainly when Robinson was appointed there was talk of such, of a short-term goal - achieved in us staying up, a short-mid term approach of rebuilding a squad and thereafter building a squad for the longer term built upon what by then would hopefully be a regular stream of talent from the youths.

If, with each passing season we go further and further down the line of paying off Boyle and Hutchison and begin to accumulate reserves for ourselves there should in theory be less reason for us to take quite so many of the calculated gambles and have more focus on bringing through our own.

If it proves to be the case that several years from now we're still not seeing youngsters make up the bulk of the squad then the concerns you raise will have been fully validated. For now though whilst I would still like to see more of own given their opportunity I can fully appreciate why the policy is as it is and what the drivers for it are.

One of the most sensible and best posts Iv read on here

  5. Looking at past stats isnt always helpful when were signing guys from other leagues/levels, especially younger players. Mains record is very similar to Ojamaas before he joined us (there is only one goal between the two over their whole careers to date) but we know how good a player Henrik was for us. On the flip side, you have bowman who scored a fair few before joining us and hasnt been prolific. We also have fisher who looked great against us (as did Kemas and Tarrant in years gone by) but hasnt been good for us. Is fisher the last known player that weve signed?

These are the kind of signings we make now, and we just need to hope the Moults and Kipres outweigh the Fletchers and Blyths

The manager sees something in this guy, and were going to have to see him in a game or two before passing judgement.

    Absolutely agree

I also remember a good few folk jizzing themselves over bigi signing and hes hardly set the heather alight

Judge players after a couple of months of playing with us

Players are only human, cant do much for your confidence or enthusiasm when the Club you have just signed for supporters are battering you before you have kicked a ball

  6. Glad it's these cunts we play again next. Put them back in their place.

    A few signings in hopefully.

Hartley out is a big blow but i honestly think even without him or any signings, then we should have enough to beat them.

I'd give young MacLean a start.

Just a guessing game i suppose with it being a few weeks away but assuming our current injured players are still out I'd go with..

    Carson

    Tait Kipre Dunne Hammell

    MacLean Bigirimana Grimshaw Rose

    Tanner

    Bowman

1-0 to the Good guys and Imrie to be stretchered off with a cruciate ligament injury.

I reckon 2-3 of those players may not even be playing with us by the time this game comes around

  7. Getting a striker in on loan would surely be better than a signing at this stage.

Got to be guys out there that are down the pecking order at a higher level who would want an opportunity to score goals and give their manager a wee reminder.

We sign someone and it's probably going to be a lower level player.

We need quality in, not another one through the revolving door of dross.

Agree completely with this, we should be looking at young players from epl clubs on loan

That was the market we did well with in the past ie juke and Blackman etc

  8. Can we bring back HOD for this

Utter nonsense that theres even talk of his position being under threat, every team go through a run of games where they are poor. We are 3pts off top six which Id have taken at start of the season

If these defeats had been more spread out this season we wouldnt even be debating it

He will get the window and he will get until we are firmly in the mire at the bottom 2 so lets stop this shite chat and start backing the team

Any new player coming in needs our full backing, we really should be careful what we wish for

  9. I agree with that - we might have cover for left back if Plummer ever gets fit - but that remains to be seen.

Plummer I dont think will play again, think we will see a left back, centre half and a forward come in and that will be it

By god could we do with double that though
