  1. Hammell was the wrong appointment. We saw tonight an experienced manager making the changes while ours dithered until 5 minutes from the end. At the very least we should have brought in an experienced assistant. Bringing back Moult, Aarons and Mckinstry looked like desperate measures by a manager who had very few contacts in the game having spent almost his whole career here. I have real fear that we will go down this season.

  2. The irony of the outcry about the Jota incident is that all that fuss about something that did not change the result. No mention of the dodgy shy that led to a goal. No fuss about the pull on Lamie v Aberdeen that should have given us a last minute penalty. Poor Celtic but of course they are stoking the fire for future tight decision hoping the pressure they know they can bring will influence the decisions.

  3. The last few games have given me the fear. On the evidence of the last three home games it looks like we will be in relegation trouble. The inability to create chances and a leaky defence is a fatal combination.

Managers stand and fall by their recruitment. When Hammell was appointed I questioned how he would recruit having spent virtually his whole career at Fir Park and as a coach working in the academy. I feared his contacts in the game would be limited. The fact that he signed three former players, two injury prone and one untried youngster seemed to back this up. Only the completely new player Penney has improved things.

  4. When Hammell was appointed I worried about recruitment which after all is one of the main roles of the manager, To recruit well a manager should have a high profile and lots of contacts in the game. My worry is that Stevie is not well known as he has been immersed in youth football and may not have the contacts and profile to attract players to the club. I feel this has been borne out by this transfer window. Only Penney has had no previous connection with the club. McKinstry is obviously someone he knows well, but how many more like him are ther? Aarons and Moult have been here before so know the club and that would be an attraction for them.

We are utter shite though. And yep thats the reason I picked that example. That team were so bad we ended up in the playoffs and then smashed Rangers.  All I'm saying is that we have regressed to such an extent that they would also destroy us.

A team with Pearson, McManus and McDonald through the spine, and Ainsworth and Johnson on the wings would totally destroy our current team if they showed up primed for the event. Carrol v on-form Lionel? Come on.

    Skippy v Ojala?

Pearson and Las v Goss and Slattery?

Now line our current team up with McGhee's first season or McCalls superstars.  Its frightening to imagine the outcome.

Now of course we don't need to worry about it, we are finishing 4th or 5th but it just shows how poor not only Motherwell have got in a relatively short number of years, but the rest of the league as well.

Interesting that a team with Pearson, McManus and McDonald finished 11th yet this lot with the poorer players finished 5th. It might just be that Alexander is able to organise a team to get the very best out of his squad while Barraclough could not. We have come back countless times this season. Ibrox twice, St Mirren, away and home, Aberdeen and Morton in the cup, Livingston all spring to mind recently. This indicates the players are motivated and think positively. That might just be down to the manager.

  7. Absolutely raging at the club for agreeing to this. Their supporters cause mayhem at a ladies game. They shafted us for tickets at their midden. Oh and Mrs Sinjy asked me last week what day we could visit her brother and sister and go for a meal. Everything booked for Saturday. Another game I cant get to. Is it worth buying a season ticket next season when we get mucked around. At least when the game is switched for TV we get  plenty of warning but this is ridiculous.

  8. I swore after Ross Co, Dundee and Hibs I was done with away games. At 2.50 withdrawal symptoms set in and I paid £17.50 to watch one of the worst games of football imaginable. No creativity, no finesse or skill. Two bad teams with one worldy shot that won it. I would regard myself as a happy clapper but that was unacceptable. I really fear that if we do not make the top six we will end up in the play off. A couple more defeats and we could be only five or six points in front of St Johnstone at the start of the run in.

The problems seem to stem from January. Watt was a big loss as he got us up the park holding the ball and buying fouls. Combine his loss with the players who came in. Roberts was poor before. What is the point of Shaw, and Tierney looks like someone's son playing in his dad's testimonial.

Team selections are strange. Woolery did well at Ibrox but has been on the bench since. Slattery was a star before Xmas but has disappeared. Playing five at the back against Hibs was a change that I thought might work but not to have O'Donnell and Carroll's the wing backs was wrong McGinley and Mugabe are basically defenders. Admittedly that didn't work too well on Saturday. Then on Saturday only two midfielders, Donnelly and a rookie, Cornelius, just made it clear we were going to hoof it and miss out the midfield.

I thought Alexander was great booking but I am now having severe doubts.

  9. Told Mrs sinjy at half time that I would be available shortly as  expected the worst. I didn't listen to the Rangers TV commentary but am fair enjoying McCann and Kerr analysing the game so the missus is still waiting patiently to go out. Kelly was brilliant and Lamie seemed to put his body in front of everything. Hope we can now kick on in midweek.

  10. I have gone right off this forum recently. The negative comments aimed at many of our players and the management have been way over the top. I have supported the Well for over sixty years and will always give the club and whoever is in charge my backing. Today was one of the best performances in years. It gave me as much pleasure as the two recent semi final wins. Every player was up for it and there wasn't one failure. Disappointingly I am writing this on page five. The Rangers defeat got 13 pages. That says a lot about this forum.

  11. I went to collect mine on Thursday but was told the machine had broken and they were waiting on a part they expected to be delivered on Friday. It would be best to check before travelling to Fir Park to collect to save a wasted journey.

  12. Just asking but when Patterson came on at Hampden was that the first time he had played in front  of a crowd? Rangers only had him and the third choice goalie in the squad. The media needed a Rangers player to write about to satisfy their readers. It is that sort of parochialism that harms the progress of our national team. Good on Clarke for ignoring them.

In general, I agree with this...however I think its pretty clear to see that Patterson and Gilmour are going to be tremendous players. At right back, we have a real problem, as SOD (for me) isnt good enough and his deputy Palmer even worse, so I can fully see the logic in taking another youngster along as back up. I'd have done the same with 3rd choice keeper, rather than take McLaughlin along.

You have clearly missed the point.  McLaughlin is a Rangers ( reserve player) so thoroughly deserves to be in the squad. Why take a youngster when you have an experienced Rangers player. My piss is boiled again by his selection. Pandering to the OF has held us back  for years. If McLaughlin and Paterson were not in the squad then there would have been no one for the sychofants in the press to write about.

  14. The selection of Paterson really boils my piss. Eight first team games and he is in the squad. Is that because Rangers had only one other player there? To be a defender for 8 games in the team that wins the league by miles is not exactly someone who has been put under any pressure. Reminds me of Jack Hendry who played half a season with Dundee who were at the bottom of the league and under pressure every week - no where near Scotland squad and was then transferred to Celtic and only played intermittently for the rest of the season but got into the Scotland team.

Old firm bias holds this country back. The press touting their players. No doubt we will now get extensive coverage of the Lowland League next season and there will be some wonder kids we will be told about and then never hear of again after next season.

I hope O'Donnell does really well and keeps this recent media darling on the sidelines.

  15. I have some memory of reading that the first thought was to move the pitch towards the south to make equal space behind each goal.  This was quickly ditched when it would have meant the POD stand would have been even more out of line
