  1. It doesn't - Super J's don't do student concessions!

    'Flow

I hope Motherwell offer the same when they come visiting. It grates me to see our fans treated poorly at away grounds yet Motherwell offer the other teams discounts when they come to visit Fir Park. The moral high ground means fuck all in the SPL and even less when its our fans who get fleeced.

  2. In the same way that Middlesborough fans nicknamed Massimo Maccarone "Tinov" why don't we nickname Giles Coke "Canov"?

I hate using other teams ideas but at least this one was funny even if only a little bit.

Edit - We could also use this to nickname him "Gramov" or "Lineov"

  3. Terry Butcher scored more goals against Rangers during Souness's day than any other player. OGs count for nothing. We didn't lose last night because of one goal. Craigan may not be everyone's first choice but at this moment we've got no one who can do the job just as good in his place. Craggs is a decent, honest player who like everyone in the team has their frailties but until we sign 2 centre halves which are of better quality then Craggs will get my full backing.

  4. Rest in Peace Paul. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Always felt that McGrillen was on verge of breaking through into first team regular when McLeish moved him on in a deal which still baffles me (no offence to Eddie May)

  5. text from mwellhighland. Him and steeledge are wandering about on their tod, and haven't seen any other well fans yet. They want to know if anyone is congregating / meeting anywhere?

    Anyone help?

    Hoped you texted them "Aye - Jack Daniel's - You've been Gaag'ed!" :D

  6. I left a pals house in newmains at 6.30 and at 7.20 was in chaplehall. I left the car in the industrial estate and ran. Got to the game at 7.40 piss poor control of traffic or poor preparation on my part, but surely 1.25 hrs is enough to get to a game ffs i can get to Hampden in that time.

Loads of folk came in late KO should have been delayed.

I left Newmains at 6.55 last night and was parked in a housing scheme across the road from the industrial estate and was in the ground 10 mins afore kick off and I never went off the main roads. Traffic was bad but I thought there wasn't much else the Police could do given everyone was coming via Chapelhall.

  7. It's weird the amount of Northampton fans that say this boy is pish - yet are throwing a hissy fit about him leaving. You'd think they'd be on here gloating about us getting him...

There's no guarantee that it sour grapes on their part either. A number of our fans would post something similar if one of the usual boo-boys targets treated our club the same way it appears Coke or his agent have treated theirs.

In saying that I take the original comments with a pinch of salt as I do when I see Stockport fans praise Gannon. Lets reserve judgement until we see the player in action afore casting any opinions aside.

  8. Bass someone spotted it :D

Might have known it would have been you :O

    How's Kate

Scooby Hugh - Canny keep quiet - Canny spell quiet!

    Oh Babooshka, babooshka, babooshka . . . .

  9. It's a pity your still not living over there as it would have been a good stop again :whistling:

And we coulda had a mini-march through the Petersburn taking in the sights of the local junkies and the smell of pish from the stab-inn.

  10. It was all East tickets when I was in yesterday, presume it's much like Llanelli where they're trying to spread the crowd over the 2 stands?

I'd assume that'll be because the Main Stand has sold out. I doubt the club would deliberately try to spread the crowd as it would mean extra police/stewards.

  11. I don't know if any one noticed but the Northampton fans seem to be convinced that striker Abebayo Akinfenwa will be following his good friend Giles Coke to Fir Park.

I read it that they expected Akinfenwa to follow Coke out of Northampton and not follow him to Fir Park. Given a few of them mentioned that he still has the Cobblers, I doubt we'll be paying any fee and after the way they are going on about us signing Coke, I doubt they'd be willing to sell him to us.

  12. Did anybody make it to the training today and see if the two trialists looked the part? Cant remember the names but thought it was today that both came in.

    Cheers :woop:

Called by Dalziel Park this morning as I was passing by. I only noticed the striker who's a tall coloured player but he didn't look to hot. He only had a couple of touches in the 30-odd minutes I was watching but he was easily picked up by Craggs.

Jennings looked a tidy player without really doing anything fancy other than put in a lot of work. Humphrey's looks like a real find. As has been mentioned he is pacy but he dribbles with the ball very well and contrary to rumours his final ball was superb with Sutton dispatching from a few tasty crosses.

The first team were also playing a 4-1-4-1 formation this morning with Mark reynolds playing the holding role in front on Craggs and Hutchison in midfield. It was really interesting to watch Gannon at work with Craggs playing the ball out of defence a number of times thanks to space created from the central midfielders. Paul Slane again impressed by making a lot of mazy runs and making a lot of shots from difficult anles which we creeping inside the far post.

  13. Would it have been worth the club getting their retaliation in first and issuing a story to the press agency expressing their disappointment at the incident and outlining their decision to ban the culprits? I don't know if that would have been positive or not right enough.....

The club dealt with it the way they should have, by dealing with it quietly and effeciently. The ones to blame for making this newsworthy are those who contributed to the first thread on the subject with everyone lining up what they thought should happen to the individuals concerned. As you say we know the papers read these boards and everyone should thiink on this when they post in future as did folk really need to read 50+ threads on how folk thought it was out of order. The club've dealt with it effectively without wanting any praise or putting any positive spin on it as they were forced to take action because of the actions of a few. Instead the posters on here have contributed in making sure this negative story was reported much wider than it should've been.

In saying that, its always disappointing when the club is being shat on in the press and its all the more disappointing when its one of our own who's doing it. Some folk are trying to pin it on the editor or whoever else when the truth is that its Scott's name beside it. As factual as the story maybe, its the last thing the club needed or wanted. I don't know the reasons why Scott chose to write the story but there are a couple of Well fans in the media who've managed to stay away from putting their own club in a poor light so lets not make up any excuses for Scott.

  14. As a few folk have said tonight was a good professional performance and to me it makes the defeat last week all the more shameful. A plus point has definitely been the performances of the youngsters. They coped well even when it started getting a little towsy in the 2nd half. I'd like to see one of the more experienced guys like Craigan or Lasley take the role Scott Leitch took a few years ago and let the opposition know all about it when they kick one of our younger players.

In the first half tonight we made football look a simple game by getting it out wide, putting in decent crosses with Sutton doing all that we can ask by putting it in the net. The only concern I have is I don't know if this will work in the SPL as a number of teams have big centre halfs although I suppose if we put enough crosses in then we're bound to get something.

I thought in the second half we were guilty of over-doing it a little especially Jim O'Brian - I'd rather see the ball being put in the box early than seeing our wingers trying the beat one man to many.

  15. Absolutely shocking stuff tonight - I know its our first game of the season but no-one wanted to take any responsibility tonight. I think its harsh to have a go at Sutton when then the midfield created very little for him to do anything. Keith Lasley put in a performance tonight which even Brian Kerr would call gutless and pathetic.

Its hard to have a go at the young guys as they at least put in a lot of effort but the older more experienced players in the squad did hee haw. We were gifted a lot of possesion yet created few real chances of note. Jamie Murphy has to step up to the plate this season and his squandered chance in the first five minutes was criminal and cost us a result tonight.
