1.) Is Scott Burns becoming the new Flow? To many folk on here are hanging on his everyword. Get a grip FFS - he's a professional "unofficial website" reader.

2.) How the hell do so many folk know how much a player is on a week at Fir Park? Some folk should remember we haven't got megabucks when suggesting a players name for next season but equally I doubt we pay as little as what some folk are saying for some of our current players.

  2. its amazing how Jefferies has come in and totally changed that team - on the whole, he is looking for a British type player and changed the backbone of that team - as much as he is a whinging fu**er, I would love them to really challenge the OF - next season might be the one!

I doubt any team with Zander Diamond and Danny Grainger will be able to challenge the OF.

  3. I'm still waiting on the ballot to.

The lack of communication from the club on the ballot is a joke. I've never seen so many regulars at Fir Park sweating about getting all the tickets they need. I can't believe that people who went along to the semi final are struggling on getting a seat for the final.

  4. I've heard charges have been dropped and are just awaiting paperwork being made before it will be made public.

Thought we were there for the taking yesterday especially in the second half. Credit to Motherwell though for stopping the threat of conway and swanson.

In any other job, Goodwillie would've been on gardening leave just now. Had he not meant so much to Utd then he probably wouldn't have been playing recently. Utd have taken a big chance with him. His overhead kick shows he has plenty of ability but he also showed major arrogance yesterday by diving and acting like an arse when returning the ball back after we put it out of play for Gunning to get treatment.

  5. Watched the highlights. Looked like a good game with a good atmosphere. Nice to see, I don't like this 'the cups are dead' school of thought.

Thought we really dodged a bullet when Saunders tackled Goodwillie. Definite penalty, how the referee didn't give it I'm not quite sure.

Disappointed at both goals we lost. Gunning needs a wrap on the knuckles for his rolling around instead of defending malarkey and Randolph should have done better, the shot was straight at him.

The second goal, it's so crazy you don't even know where to point the finger. Certainly Saunders as right back was nowhere to be seen, and I assume Hutchinson was supposed to be right centre half. Why everyone got drawn left I'm not to sure.

Anyway, looked like a decent performance overall and hopefully we can edge it at Fir Park. At least Brian Welsh won't be playing this time!

No way was Saunders challenge a penalty - Saunders did leave his leg out but Goodwillie was trying to make the most of it.

For the Utd second goal, Craigan goes to cover Gunning who is nowhere to be seen and Hutchison and Saunders came left to cover the gap left by Craigan. Had Gunning been at left back then the rest of our defence wouldn't have to cover and someone would've been able to be cover Daly.

  6. I'd be interested in getting my hands on a copy on Sunday's game, if possible.

The wins against the vile twins are rare enough, but winning by more than a goal ? I can remember 3-0 against the buns (McClair in Jan-83), then again in '91 (Philliben and Arnott X 2) that I was at, and I can recall an end of season 2-0 against the buns (Ally McLeod season I think), as well as the 3-0 Andy Lynch game, which I wasn't at.

Obviously, there's the 5-2 Ibrox game which was before my time (I think)

Anybody got others ? Any pics or video more than welcome too !

The 4-2 Semi final win against Celtic in '91. I rate this as one of my favourite Well games ever.

  7. the folk working the gates at the east stand aren't that helpful either sometimes

My mate went to the game the other night, he doesn't like football but goes if i ask him and he had to pay in, so he went in the gate after me and handed over the cash and the guy told him this was the students bit and to go to the gate at the end, he waited in the queue again and then when we got served they told him it was the kids and OAP's turnstyle then to go to the one next door and he waited in the queue again and got moved once more.

I tend to find this when i was paying with money myself to get into the games they seemed to just move me around and noone ever seemed to know where i was to go.

The club are trying to tie down the gates to take one price. Unfortunately this has meant in the last few games that fans who aren't aware which gate is which (there is a notice above the turnstyle to let them know) have been queueing in the wrong queue.

The club are looking closely at trying out the Falkirk method of purchasing tickets from a booth before entering the gate. Whilch will maybe eliminate this problem but I doubt it'll proce popular with many pay-at-the-gate fans.

  8. If Strathclyde Police want nobody to use smokebombs or whatever they should use pressure technique by sayings anyone who uses them is a homo or something like that. Bringing them in cause its no allowed surely must give folk who use them an added thrill that they are doing something which isny allowed. Allowing them in and labelling a fan "a big homo" would take away that buzz.

Personally I think smokebombs bring nothing to the game and if anything on Sunday distracted folk in the sections about me from singing and keeping the atmosphere going as to many folk are nosy buggers and think they are missing something.

  9. Same way the Pro-Gannon gang have told themselves the players are to blame for him not being here any longer, and that Craigan and his gang got him the boot. Which is absolute bollocks.

Ah the old "blame one man cause its easier than having a go at a few players" argument - that argument has done wonders for Aberdeen.

  10. It's exactly what has been happening though. Out of the midfield three, it is usually Lasley that is playing further forward, with Jennings dictating the middle at will, and it seems Fitzpatrick doing the covering shift for any players out of position. Which leaves Humphrey being a third forward - albeit slightly wider than a natural attacking forward.

I didn't say thats not whats been happening but that system relies heavily on Humphrey being the creator. You mentioned earlier in the post I quoted about you not buying into "this crap of needing a left midfielder while we have Fizzy" - If Fitzy plays left mid leaving Lasley to get further forward then we either need Las to contribute more goals himself or create goals otherwise we need someone else as who can else we rely to heavily on Humphrey or Murphy dropping short to create chances. The lack of goals we've had from midfield has been shocking in recent years and don't even get me started about our lack of goals from set pieces.

  11. Can't compare Jamie Pollock and Fitzpatrick. From what I have seen Pollock is more of a winger. We really don't need a winger, nor do I buy this crap of needing a left midfielder while we have Fizzy. I think if we get a left winger in the Humphrey mould we could suffer because Murphy would be stuck more centre and although Murphy is never a left winger, he is one of these strikers that is more effective if given the right to roam to the wing, especially the left, like he did most of yesterday - and he does for Scotland ( a little like Villa for Barcelona/Spain).

Fizzy brings a natural balance, and allows Lasley to get forward more, not to mention natural cover for Hammell - something Hammell has not had in a very long time (and Reynolds when he goes on one of his daft runs). I'm unsure a winger could do such a thing.

Yeah cause then Lasley can play to his strength of setting up goals or use his much feared goal threat  Deary me - thats one of the worst suggestions I've read on here in a long while.

  12. Hartson in today's Sun clearly is touting himself for the job -

i wonder if John Sutton will be touting for his Brother and Hartson to form a dream team!

John Hartson has touted himself for every vacant job recently like Aberdeen and the Welsh job. He has no real management experience and can tout himself all day long cause no one in their right mind will consider taking a chance on him.

  13. This is a financial thing with Celtic, they include the season ticket holders because those seats are 'sold' for that game, they can't be resold so they are counted in Celtic's attendance. It's their way of keeping tabs on how many seats are unsold per game. There are quite a few clubs who do it this way, most of the EPL for starters.

Absolute nonsense, only season ticket holders who attend are included in the attendance figure. At Celtic they'll be able to find out how many season ticket holders attend by the number who swipe in. Why not leave this conspiracy theory alone as the figure by checked by HMRC if they want using a seperate counter system?

What a laugh this place is - earilier on in the week someone under calculated the visiting Dundee Utd fans by a quarter now we're over estimating crowd sizes. The counter never lies! :whistling:

  14. hi all, im kev.

is anyone else a bit suspicious about the official attendance figures at fir park.

fir park capacity is 14,000 or just bellow. Now take away the south stand and that leaves us with a 9,000 capacity. Taking away the Dundee support the attendance for the last united game was 4,000 ish. No way was the 3 other stands under half full. what do you think?

    Not again :whistling:

Is this the new Rainbow/Dindeleux thread?

  15. There's been some banter elsewhere that they didn't bring too many down for the game (the number 128 was being mentioned). Any truth?

Nae truth whatsoever as I had more than that through my turnstyle alone. Try 5 or 6 times that number.
