That's what the forum is all about though - our opinions. We've got 40+ pages of discussion on people who may very well NOT be considered by Motherwell at all for all we know, despite paper talk. It's really all just conjecture. Nothing wrong with that, either. Keeps the world spinning.

We don't have any/much money to be attracting players especially of the calibre Sanchez and McAllister could probably attract. These 2 guys would be good options if we had dosh, that's a given. Because Nijholt's track record with youth is impressive and given that we will probably be relying a lot on youth for the the forseeable future he would seem to be the more sensible option.

It's still Luc for me. Never really took to Sanchez - seems a bit like Butcher with a suntan.

I would imagine Craigan is only going to be taking the pre-season training. I think Boyle's talk of a temporary manager has made some folks think we will be getting someone in to do deals and tie up contracts - far from the case, I would hope. Don't think there will be anything happening until the new guy gets his bum on the seat.

That's the bit about Nijholt that intrigues me the most - the youth factor. Let's face it, it's the way ANY manager stepping into the Motherwell job will have to go and Nijholt seems to have no qualms about it and the experience in nurturing youngsters. Gary Mac seems to want a budget to buy, buy, buy - would have been perfect back in Boyle's early days but not now.

Two years ago we were at the lowest of the low - huge division between the club and fans, a squad that had been looked after unprofessionally and were largely unfit and that seemed destined only for relegation. Scarves and season tickets on the pitch at the end of the season, fans demanding Malpas out, JB giving the vickies....

I think wee Tommy's time as manager has come and gone.....but he'd be a cracking number two and sounding board for a guy such as Nijholt..

Well, it won't be Craigan with him being Northern Irish and all. Don't think Mccart is cut out for it and wouldn't reckon we'd get Pressley. He and Eddie May are practically shoe-ins at Falkirk I think. That leaves the usual suspects in the Scottish managerial merr-go-round which, for me, is a no thank you. I think we would either have to go English league up-and-comer, continental guy looking for a crack in the UK or somebody completely new and untested - a la what we did with McLeish ( ). Honestly, the fella Gannon (possibly too good for us?) and Nijholt are the names that intrigue most (from the names we know about). Craigie Broon, I could see coming in with a younger assistant (Derek Adams?). Not that Broon would enthrall me to much but I could imagine it happening if he was still interested in managing. And, for what it's worth, I voted A.N Other in the poll. Doesn't matter who gets it though - at 9am on a Saturday I know what I'll be doing. Tuning in on the Beeb webcast and supporting whover we end up with.

Absolutely fucking shocking that you are that drunk at this time of day, Lobey! So far, the only names to really stcik out as interesting (to me) are Luc and Gannon. There is NOBODY in the Scottish game I'd want for us right now. I vaguely recall that David Byrne character from his Partick days and want no part of him.

Think you have hit the nail on the head there. I must admit I am worried at just how little money we are gonna have to improve the squad when we get the new fellla in.

The OF can't have their cake and eat it too. They alwasy complain that they are papped out of Europe due to weak domestic competition but their TV revenue policy perpetuates that weak competition. Level the playing field, give us all a fair shake and you'll see a stronger SPL and better Euro performances. But, then, the OF might not fill the top 2 spots year in and year out....

Our assets didn't sign the contracts offered. That's up to them, not him. If they wanted more money then it is up to Boyle to open his pockets - he's the money man, not McGhee. Anyway, a fresh slate for the new boss sounds fine to me - it means less deadwood for him to have to clear.
