Being consistent, fair and as accurate as can be. Example. In Nov, McDonald of Aberdeen was sent off a FP for lifting his shirt after he scored. Got a 2nd yellow and sent off. McLean at the weekend, took shirt off and didnt get a 2nd booking. Why not? Example. In 2008 Bob Malcolm got a red card at Celtic park for a challenge on Donatti. On Oct that year, Scott McDonald went in with a tackle that was just as bad if not worse than Malcolms and just gets a yellow. What was the difference? Example. Clarky was sent off at Celtic Park in Nov 2008 for the so called elbow into Caddis face when he was facing away from the player and getting his shirt pulled. At the weekend, Kris Boyd appeared to elbow Zemmama and just gets a yellow card. There is no consistency there, even although they are 3 very similar situations. Its not fair to send a player off and then treat another differently. No wonder the officials get a hard time when there is a difference of options in applying the laws of the game. As for Mr Gilmour, as I see things through Claret and Amber contact lenses, I will shout for any decision to go Motherwells way even when I know it isnt and live with most decisions that go against us. But last week for just a shocking decision. It wasnt even 50/50, if it was then I could live with the split second decision he made. But it wasnt even 80/20 or 90/10. It was 100/0. How an experienced official got that totally incorrect is beyond belief.

So, what Dougal is implying (allegedly), is that the assistant referee didnt see what had happenned or how Forbes got close to the ball, but thought, what the f***, he may have been offside so I better raise my flag. So if there is an incident and say Forbes goes down holding his face, should the assistant referee raise his flag as he "gambled" that an opposition player who was in the vicinity where Forbes was, has just elbowed Forbes in the mush even although he didnt see it!! In my view, Forbes was probably correct going for the ball anyway. Albeit looked like it was going in, when I have watched the replay, it could also have easily hit the post and bounced back out again.

When I started going to the Ark in 1977, I'm pretty sure it was about 40p for kids to get in, unless your kind father/uncle/stranger lifted you over the turnstile. I'm sure adults were about 80p. Using the Bank of England inflation calculator, 80p in 1977 is the equivalent of about £4.73 now. The standard adult East Stand price is £18, so thats nearly 4 times more than if the gate prices rose in line with inflation. I remember buying a Frys Turkish Delight for about 10p in 1977, so using the football gate calculator, it should in theory cost me about £2.25. :-) and if it was, I wouldnt pay that for a wee bar of chocolate. Yet, I will quite happily follow my team and pay for 3 season books for myself and my 2 boys. Why?? For the love of the club like many others. Football is an expensive business, with average players getting good salaries and its the fans who are helping finance this with higher prices at the gates. Boyle has tried many initiatives over the years but doesnt draw in that much a higher attendance. Even when its a tenner for adults and free kids, we only get a small increase. There are too many other attractions for families, bowling, the pictures, games consoles etc that are a more attractive proposition for others. I dont reckon Wark and Pettigrew would be anywhere near the equivalent salary that some of the 'Well players are on today, in a time when they were men and played on frozen pitches or even worse ploughed pitches that we have today. As a result, to even have a team that performs reasonably well, we need to pay more to keep a certain standard which results in income being sought from somewhere.

Last season we punched above our weight and got a teriffic 3rd. This season we have finished more or less where we would normally expect finish. Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts and Hibs are all city clubs with a bigger fan base, thus more income and able to give higher salaries, so in theory, should be able to bring in better players. Yes, yesterday was disappointing, and I think McGhee should have made changes just after half time when it would give more time for the subs to try and make an impression, but hey, I aint a football manager. However, I think McGhee has still done reasonably well despite the poor run going into Christmas. Hamilton, Inverness and Kilmarnock were occupying top 6 places at the beginning of the season and they are below us now!! McGhee still has a lot to offer and if he can get a few players in (somebody who can at least get a few shots at goal during a game) and have a season with little injury or suspensions, then I think we can aim for top 6 next season. We all support Motherwell and as such, should show support through the good times and the bad times. We cant attract the likes of an Alex Ferguson or Christan Ronaldo, so we need to make do with what we have and give them our total support and that includes McGhee.

Yes m8, I appreciate that and in the past, I have benefited from other retailers with similar things. The point I was trying to make was I purchased something with a "supposed" shelf life of 2 years, which will now end this summer. I spoke to my kids and told them about this new kit, and they said if they knew it was going to be replaced, then they would rather have waited until the summer to get the new one.

I can agree and disagree with many comments here. Whilst it may be good financial business for the club with the new kit, and yes they should be applauded for it, but as a father of 2 kids who are Well fans and season ticket holders, they like to have the current tops, but 3 changes in 3 years is getting a bit much. FLOW stated in a previous post that they informed the fans as soon as they could. I just purchased a £40 top for my son just 1 month ago. Now they are half price. Yes I feel a little peeved off knowing that it will last for less than half a season and that I could have saved 20 quid into the bargain (and before anybody says I dont have to buy a new one, I dont purchase one for myself anymore, I still wear my old Zoom and Anglian tops. I've still got an old Patrick top from the mid 1980's which fits......well I can at least get it over my head ). Now as a few people have mentioned here they wont be purchasing the new tops, surely that will be lost revenue to the club. But then, they will probably make more from their contract than what they will make from sales of replica tops. I recall many postings saying the club seem to forget their fans every now and then. Replica tops, moving Well fans from the Cooper stand for old firm games, season ticket holders not getting communications, pricing at the St Mirren cup game.....!!! My receipts state "08/10" which, like many others, I thought I was at least getting a 2 years kit, but alas no. False advertising springs to mind. Never mind, I hope the club will look favourably on all the fans who have purchased a kit that is supposed to have a 2 year shelf life, with a favourable price on the new kit to make up for it. In response to not giving into kids, yes I do agree, but kids are only young once and they want to look and act like their idol, hence why they want the kit their current fav player wears. Last comment, can they issue new kits BEFORE the school holidays start. I'm sure they will get a good number of sales with families going on holiday and they can wear the new kit proudly down the beach!

Since the start of 2009, we have only lost 1 game of nine. In the process we have only conceded 4 goals, whereas in the last 9 games of 2008, we lost 15 goals, so we are pretty tight at the back and not letting in too many goals. Far too often we allow the old squirm to score early, so I think if we can get to half time 0-0 or 1 goal up, then we have a good chance of sneaking a wee win. Its been long overdue a home win against Celtic, so fingers crossed for tomorrow.DC to pop up and score the winner 4 minutes into injury time.

I could, if tickets go on sale during school holidays, weekends etc. Or just take the missus along. The point I was making though, is that not everybody can queue with family or friends to get tickets at the same time, so there is the possibility of letting someone down.
-
There will never been an "ideal" way of distributing tickets, so the club will never win. People want to go with their friends and family, so they want to buy X tickets at the same time. If there was no limit, the tickets could get sold out quickly which means less chances for anybody way down the line in the queue. Since the limit has been set at 2, this does put people in a difficult position. Myself and my 2 sons are ST holders, so if we wanted to go, I would want 3 tickets, but will only get 2. What son do I favour and which one do I let down? Whoever gives me most of their pocket money back gets to go? The other has to stay and help his mum dust and hoover? Its like life, there will always be winners and loosers.
