  1. OK, so yesterday was a bad result and we dont seem to be gelling as a team right now. TBH, the result wasnt unexpected in my book as we have been poor recently and been fortunate that other teams are worse than us. In saying that we should really be able to beat a team 2nd bottom in the lowest tier. We have been spoiled the past few seasons and have lost the guts of an entire team in one ago, Randolph, Hateley, Humphrey, Law, Higdon and Ojamma with Murphy off in January. Its a big change and so far, the performances and standards we have been used to havent been there and the players just dont appear to be "a team". The same thing happened under Tommy McLeans tenure, we won the Scottish Cup then struggled for the next couple of seasons, with people wanting McLean out when we finished down towards the bottom of the league. He was given time and in his last season, he managed to get the players to play well and we finished 3rd, before McLeish took the same players to 2nd before he dismantled the team and brought in his own players (nuff said about that).
  2. Back at the end of Feb, Lennon challenged his players to win their last 10 league games and they blew it in the first game when we beat them 2-1. Of the 7 they have played so far, they have won only 3 and that included a lucky 4-3 victory over Aberdeen. Since that day we beat them 2-1, we haven't lost a match, won 6 and drew 2 with 19 goals scored. We have played some very consistent football for most of the season and deservedly sit where we are in the league and the plaudits the team get, and player of the year nominee Higgy, are more then merited. Just wish we had another 7 or 8 games left rather than 3 as we are the form team at the moment and I would have fancied our chances of taking top spot in the SPL. As for Lennon, go wipe your eyes and stop acting like a spoilt brat. You don't deserve to win everything and accept that there have been better performances from players out with your own team.
  3. Best of luck Jamie at Sheffield and thanks for the past 11 years. Hope it all works out "well" for you.
  4. Fuckin' yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssss
  5. Thought game yesterday was ok, plenty of end to end stuff and played at a good pace. Thought Humphrey had his best game for a while and it was good to see him backtracking into defence when required and pushing their forwards away from goal, nice to see him adding some more team play to his work. We were fortunate at Aluko penalty incident, although in saying that, Aluko kicked the ball to far in front of him and even when Randolph connected with his shin, he went down too easily. He knew he had overcooked it and was looking for the penalty. For their winner, Clancy was pushed akin to what happened at the Aberdeen cup game and I'm sure if it was Higdon that pushed Whittaker before Ojamma struck an 89th minute winner, the Ref would have whistled for a foul. But overall, we played some good football and if we can bring that to the next Hibs, United, Hearts and St J games, we should be sorted.
  6. Agree that the ref had a decent game overall, tried to play advantage when he could to keep the play flowing, but thought he chickened out of giving Considine a second yellow. After he got booked he committed a few too many fouls, jersey pulling etc and I'm sure if that was Jennings or Lasley they would have got a 2nd yellow. But passmarks to the officials and well done to the team for breaking Aberdeen's 13 game unbeaten run.

  8. Watched the highlights again and the ref could have given us a free kick when Considine headed the ball back in front of the goal when they scored as he kind of pushed Clancy out of the way so Clancy couldn't get his header in, but saying that Clancy should have maybe been a little stronger and been prepared for somebody coming into attack the ball. Wasnt sure about Lasleys tackle at the time, but the highlights show ref was right to issue a red card. Lasley just getting that wee bit slow now and once has has committed himself there is no way to stop. If Fyvie still had the ball at his feet it would have been a well timed tackle to win the ball rather than taking his ankle out. Cant blame the ref for the corner. He went by what his assistant said assuming he had the better angle. Assistant still a cock though. As for the penalty, next time let Randolph take them. :-)
  9. Don't think he is over rated, no one has said he is the next Messi or Ronaldo. What he has brought is a new dimension to the team, trying to create space and opportunities for others. He's still young and he will have many off games, but he just needs one good chance in a game to make a difference. As for today's game, its over, forget about the Scottish Cup and concentrate on securing 3rd or 2nd place in the league.
  10. If Rangers are not able to fulfil their remaining fixtures as is a scenario by the administrators today, the main losers would be Kilmarnock who would loose 6 points and Hearts and St Mirren would would loose 4 points. St J would loose just the 1 point and United would remain the same. But we would be in 2nd place
  11. Hibs giving the offers appear good and is an interesting idea, but looking at their website, their cheapest adult season book is £355, £75 more than a 'Well East stand ticket for this season and they cant guarantee SPL football next season either.
  12. Just 1-0 against a team of highly paid players who are worth many several million more than us, so cant complain too much. Dissapointed that we didnt have more chances though. However, goal difference didnt take a bashing and top 6 confirmed (unless we loose all games and Inverness win all theirs till the split). Roll on Dunfermline and hopefully another 3 points towards 2nd place :-)
  13. At the start of the season, I would have been happy with getting into the top 6. Where we are sitting now in the table, with the 12 point advantage over Hearts, it has to be the immediate aim to consolidate 3rd place. Looking at Hearts/St J/Dundee U performance over the past 26/27 games, I reckon 6 points from the remaining 11 games would be enough to secure 3rd place. But, 2nd place will feel so much better

    Vs Hearts

Just watched the highlights. Good to see Law getting into spaces for a crack at goal. On another day and with a little luck he could have easily had 5 . Ojamaa has certainly made a huge difference, he creates space, draws defenders and allows others to get into positions to have a go at goal. The number of goals we have scored at home in the past few matches is testament to his ability to create opportunities, and the 3rd goal yesterday when he went past several players, then turned and teased a few more before getting the ball to Murph then Law was just superb. As for Lasley, his first tackle was a nothing in my eyes. It looks as if both players boots just touch each other and Black goes down as if Ojamaa has just shot him. Black also made a meal of the 2nd challenge, rolling about. He knew what he was doing and played to get Lasley sent off. Ref Muir didnt help, mayeb he doesnt like our older players, with both Laz and Craggs sent off in 2 recent games.
  15. Think we should take a punt on Ojamaa and get him on a longer contract in January before some other club comes in and signs him at the end of the season.
  16. Better 2nd half, since Ojamaa came on. Win on Tuesday would take us back to 3rd (if results stay as is), but, Dunfermline have scored 3 today. Think they will pose a huge problem considering our home form. Just as I write, at last Higgy has scored after missing several good opportunities.
  17. From the SPL website, looks like Lennon's rants about refs being too hard on Celtic are working. They are the only team with less than 20 yellow cards to their name. Team Yellow Cards Celtic - 11 Dundee Utd - 20 Motherwell - 20 Rangers - 20 Dunfermline - 21 Aberdeen - 24 Kilmarnock - 24 St Mirren - 24 Inverness CT - 26 St Johnstone - 26 Hearts - 27 Hibernian - 29
  18. For me, the tackle from Lasley that lead to Celtics winner was a perfectly good challenge. Just highlights what the ref gave us today, very little.
  19. Casagolda to hit 5 goals in the last 15 minutes !!! He is the legend after all
  20. ever the optomist, we scored 4 goals past hibs in 25 mins last season, still 30 mins left
  21. Yaaaaaaasssssssss!!!! Top 6 confirmed.
  22. Lets face the facts. Rangers and Celtic should be beating the likes of us, Hamilton, St Johnstone etc EVERY game by several goals, when they have a team thats worth, what 25-30 Million plus, compared to us. Its not good viewing when the Well get gubbed, but like many others here, I can recall many games in the last 30 odd years, when Celtic put 7 past us, Aberdeen scored 8, even teams like St Mirren , Ayr United and Queens Park getting 4 or 5 goals against us, but for all that, many, many people still go year in year out. As Kmcalpin said, lets back the Well and give them our full support. One day we WILL beat the Gers. And when that day comes it will be worth it and all the 4-1, 6-0 defeats etc will be forgotten. At the end of the day the 6-0 is now history and we cant change it. What we can do, is alter the future, give the team our backing and support, encouragement and stay off their backs.
  23. time for a change. Murphy is a lot quiter this period, so get Sutts on for a more physical presence. C'mon the well
