We all get upset and disappointed at the performances and I know I was after leaving FP on Saturday but after a couple of beers and calming myself down I realised I was more disappointed at falling at the final hurdle than us not actually making the top 6. Who seriously thought in December that we'd have been so close to getting there though? Back then I hoped we'd avoid relegation, McGhee's words proved right though that with a fully fit squad we could turn things around. We did that and probably had 3 good chances over the last 4 games to have secured a top 6 place but it wasn't to be. A win against Killie, Aberdeen or St Mirren would've been enough with the way the results had gone those weekends but we couldn't take advantage so maybe the bottom 6 is where we deserve to be this season.

Yeah but rumours of Hearts had been doing the rounds quite a bit at that point. There have been no such rumours (so far!!) this time. I honestly believe that he'll be here next season, more to rebuild damage done to his and the clubs reputation this season than anything else. At the start of the season we thought he'd be offered the Celtic job if Strachan left at the end of it. That is now unlikely, their fans won't be happy taken on someone that at so many clubs has had a good first season and then a poor second. Mark needs to show that he can turn this season around and show that at the very least we can be knocking on the top 6 door again, if not better. I know I am happy for him to stay and although there are decisions that we all wonder why to, they are many more that have turned out well for us. The only thing I ask is that we don't re-sign Bob Malcolm.

News of the World today has him saying he isn't going anywhere this Summer and is preparing for next season. Also carries the bit about players showing thbey want to be here in the next 5 games as well. Good on you Mark. It's good to hear positive remarks from you about next season.

Sorry but I can't see how McGhee can go from being one of the best managers we've had last season to one that we want to resign just because we didn't make the top 6. If McGhee stays I am sure that we will be better prepared next season and hopefully have a few more players to help us out if we hit an injury\suspension crisis like we did in December. I'd back McGhee to have us challenging for the top 6 again next year, hopefully we'll have a couple of players in that won't allow their bottle to break when it comes to the big games.

Well what can I really say about that today? Probably not a lot that hasn't been said but I suppose one thing we can say is that Hammell ain't a midfielder. Having said that I now also have my doubts about the rest of the so called midfield. How many times was Clarky surrounded by 3 or 4 St Mirren players before one of ours got close to him. It was the same with Jim O'Brien at times as well. Too many folk out on that pitch didn't seem to want to put in a shift today.
-
What we've also got to factor in is that if Celtic drew today thenSmith would be more than happy to settle for a 1-0 win. We have to do this ourselves today by beating St Mirren and then hoping that Rangers don't decide that tomorrow is their day to implode, like they've been threaten to do for ages now.

This comes from one of those long winded I know someone that knows someone who's pal with someone who knows DC. Anyway the gist is that McCormack has been on the phone telling him to get his arse down South. Nothing concrete but if that is an option he is willing to look at then his agent may try plugging him over the close season. Bearing in mind that MM has also said he's surprised no-one had made a move for him yet. We could hear more about this over the coming months. Although I'd be gutted to lose him, I think he deserves a shot to prove himself elsewhere and will wish him good luck when he does eventually move on, whether that's this year, next year of the year after remains to be seen. Bye Bob, thanks for the goals but I hope the door doesn't hit your arse on the way out. Would hate to see the club left with a repair bill for that as well as one for the bench you've been sitting your wages on.

There was indeed a game where we had to share the Cooper with Celtic fans. The Celtic fans had one half (nearest the East Stand) and we had the other half (mostly family section). So we not only had to put up with them being in the same stand but the kids had to be put through their own unique "songs of support". I made the decision not to take my lads that game, as did others.

Absolutely delighted to hear this news. Lets hope it's never handed over again.

Are You Planing To Renew Your Season Ticket ?
Well-Made replied to East_Stand_Al's topic in Club Chat
Having been out of work for 2 months and still no clearer about the job front at the end of the month I have voted No to renewing. Whether we make the top 6 or not the price should be frozen. I could see a case for a slight rise if we make Europe. -
I thought it was for the guys on the helicopter that went down earlier in the week. Most of them were from Aberdeen.

Can't really blame him for the subs today. I think he was ready to bring Sheridan on for McGarry\Sutton when it became clear that DC had an injury. I think that's why they left Sheridan standing stripped for 5 minutes to see if DC would run it off. As for McGarry, Sutton had the chance to play him in and decided to go for goal instead.

It's definitely 2 points dropped and with the draw against Killie last time out I think we have blown our chance for the top 6. If we'd won both those games we'd be breathing down the necks of Heart and in good position for 4th place. I don't see us taking anything from Ibrox next week and I'm hoping that Hibs won't get anything when they face Rangers. This puts the St Mirren game as being the deciding factor. We are already 2 goals worse off than Hibs so we have to mke them up against St Mirren as well. The Rangers game could make that goal difference worse (hopefully better) and we'd be hoping for Rangers to hammer Hibs. It's been a good effort since Xmas but I think we're going to come up short of the line. The dropped points at Killie have come back to haunt us already I fear and today's has just compounded that result. If we'd been 2 points ahead of Hibs today then we'd have been in pole position and I'd be positive of making the cut. I am going by my head here and have put down my true thoughts. Believe me though that I really hope we pull something out of the hat and take at least a point next week.

I done a scan at the game today using the bluetooth on my phone and picked up a couple that were clearly Aberdeen fans phones. So I imagine Bluetooth would cope in the stadium.

Just been looking at the official site and have seen that Northern Ireland, Scotland U21's and the ROI U21's all won their games. The common denominator? All had a player playing in C&A in their team. Maybe Burley should've started Clarky against Holland Crags go his 40th Cap in the 3-2 win over Poland Sheridan created the 2nd goal in the ROI's win over Spain. Jamie Murphy started the game against Albania. As an aside the U21's take Albania on at the Falkirk Stadium at 5.30pm for anyone that's interested. Well done to all the players above.

Something tells me that this has been put into the media to unsettle us before next weeks game. (The sheepy fans must be crapping themselves that they won't make the top 6.) I would hate to see this come to fruition before then.

I know what you mean. However I am pretty sure that the SFA put some funding in place for these teams as well so if they were to threaten to cut that or take it away completely I am sure they'd feel obliged to make the move. Once again having the SFA fully in control off Domestic football would be a good thing. None of this SFJL crap!!

Unfortunately it's not just the SPL that need to do something. We need one body to look after Scottish Football and that should be the SFA (with new faces in charge) The SPL and SFL should combine to look after the football leagues as previous but the SFA in overall charge. Next the Leagues need to be revamped completely. We should have a top league of 16 clubs. (Ideally 18) No criteria to get into it either. A second tier of 18 Clubs (20 Max) So that gives us some clubs to get rid off. This could be accomplished by a couple of clubs going bust Clyde and Livingston. The rest drop into a restructured Highland\Junior League to give us a pyramid system so that we can lose clubs at the bottom of the second tier and keep things fresh. Relegation from the top would be 3 down with the first 2 automatically promoted with a play off place for the next 4 sides up for grabs.

I have a feeling we blew the top 6 on Saturday. With the current Top 6 playing each other that was a massive 2 points to lose. If we'd won we'd be sitting a couple of points clear of Hibs and they'd be the ones doing the chasing. As it stands now in the last 3 games before the split we have to match or better their result in each game. Not only that we have to score more goals than them and at the same time concede less. On the basis of the last few weeks we are creating chances but not taking them and that worries me that we might not get the goals we need. That's just my thoughts and maybe that's why I ain't a football manager. What I will say though is that even if we don't make the top 6 is that the lads deserve the credit for getting us back into the mix.

Have to agree with Gaag, Malcolms arse warms up more of the bench than what Klimpl's will. Also lets remember we need that extra size of arse to help keep the pitch defrosted next season if we get anymore problems with the USH. Get rid of Klimpl, he's gash!!!
-
It isn't all about the view though, it's to do with the facilities on offer in the stand as well. If Killie can argue that this is the case, then they can justify the prices. That was part of the reason that JB gave the Trust when he wanted us to hand over the DC. He couldn't charge the Old Firm fans more for a seat in the South Stand as it's facilities were on a par with the DC. (His decision still wasn't right though )
-
I suppose the hunt goes on then. You know what they say, Try, Try and Try again.
-
Anyone else worried about who'll win this contest today? Klimpl has already picked up a few yellow cards this season but I have a feeling that Brines will send him off today and probably for a soft challenge (well soft in Klimpl's book)

Congrats to Mr McGhee on the award. However I think it's a conspiracy by the SPL to make sure we don't reach Europe this season. Otherwise why award him with this right before a game that could make or break that decision. Thank God the game's on Alba!!
