I've already mentioned it but Hibs ceased as an attacking force when Riordan went off. I'm not sure it was a case of us finding our game. And to those that say Hibs are 'pish' they are quite clearly one of the best attacking outfits to come to Fir Park in many a year it's just at the back they are as bad as we are if not worse. The really amazing thing about last night was it could have been, without exaggeration 15-2 to Hibs or 9-6 to us!

They always say 'things even themselves out over the season'. Well it's looking right now like a perfectly good goal disallowed against Rangers could prevent us from finishing 4th and automatically qualifying for Europe. If ever there was a time for the 'things even themselves out' theory to prove it's self then it's at the weekend.

It was the last home game and we could have sealed European qualification. That combined with the price reduction increased the attendance but I'm not so sure if it had been an 'average' match the price reduction would have worked as well. Also Hibs support was poor by their standards but even so they probably brought two or three times as many as the likes of Falkirk and Dundee Utd have recently who probably only brought a couple of hundred each. That should also be taken into consideration when praising the attendance.

First of all recently we've been playing good teams. The Dundee United side is pretty good and going to Celtic Park is never going to be easy. For all Hibs poor form they have some terrific forward players - Riordan and Stokes in particular are a cut above most of the players in this league. You'd probably have them both in an SPL XI. Secondly, if you are being honest Ruddy hasn't been anywhere near as good in the second half of the season than he was in the first. Even during the good run he didn't have a lot to do because the players in front of him were talking care of business. He's conceded poor goals in the last two games and then there was the terrible mistake up at Dundee Utd. Thirdly, I keep saying this over and over but defending does not start at the 18 yard line. Recently we've been missing Lasley and/or Jennings and that has probably been the single biggest factor. Without them our defence is much more exposed than it is with them in the team. Hateley, who for 90% of the season has been brilliant for us has been absolutely garbage in midfield. I can honestly say his performance last night was one of the very worst I've ever seen at Fir Park. Fourthly, Saunders is a young player learning his trade and he is very up and down. Sometimes he is great and sometimes he's far from great. I can't remember him making any sort of important tackle of clearance last night and Riordan raped him. In fact probably the biggest factor in us getting a draw last night was the substitution of Riordan because they would have gone on and scored 7 or 8 if he'd still been on the pitch. I actually thought our worst defender last night was Reynolds. Maybe he was thinking it was his last appearance at Fir Park and the occasion got to him....however if any scouts were watching him last night he won't be going anywhere.

I'm sure the official attendance is about right, in fact I was surprised it was that high. Around me it wasn't much different. If you went five seats either side of me in my row, row in front and the row behind there was probably 7 or 8 empty seats. Really the East Stand has to be completely full for the attendance to be 7,000+.

I think it's somewhere around the £2 - 2.5m mark.

Apparently it's the first 6-6 draw in British football for 50 years.

Forbes hugs Duke like he was his mummy.

I'm guessing a lot of people will go for Jutkiewicz because of the goal but I thought Sutton was outstanding and actually he's had a brilliant season, twice the player he was last season. MotM - John Sutton

I might never recover from that. That's me in a rocking chair now for the rest of my life with a blanket over me, a vacant stare and liquefied food being piped down my neck.

My legs are jelly, I have no voice and I don't know whether to be incredibly angry or incredibly happy, so I'm just wandering around shell shocked and laughing like a lunatic. Simultaneously the worst and best Motherwell performance I've ever seen. This team will put me in an insane asylum and I love it.

This is good news, we might actually win a high ball!

Apparently they offered Goncalves 12K a week to stay. Crazy.

I hope Broon's team talk before the match is "kick fuck out Riordan". Even if the result didn't go for us at least we would have kicked fuck out Riordan.

I just think this whole cut the prices and fans will come flooding back idea is not realistic. It's obvious attendances are down but I've been going to Fir Park since the mid 80's and we've NEVER had a big support. At our very peak support in all those years we maybe had 5,000 - 5,500 fans that would turn up during the boom years of the late 90's/early 00's. But for most of the time it's been between 4,000 - 4,500. Now it's down to about 3,500- 4,000 during a recession. At the very most, there are maybe 1,000 - 1,500 floating supporters that at one time or other have come out to support us and have drifted away but in the age of televised football, getting half of them back would be optimistic. We simply can't afford to slash prices to attract a 1,000 extra fans. Are you going to reduce prices by 50% if the very best you can hope for is a 25% increase in attendance with the likelihood that it would actually be significantly less? That is financial suicide.

I don't want to sound like some kind of crazy Steven Pressley type but you have to be positive. Come on 'Well! Let's do this! Hibs have lost 6 on the trot and haven't beat a top six side since 27th Jan. Their record against Top Six teams in 2010 is P11 W1 D1 L9.
-
We didn't go 12 games without a win, but we only one once between 4th Oct and Broon's first game on the 16th January, which was a run of 12 games. The win was the 1-0 against Hearts at Fir Park. Pretty sure this will be Mark Reynolds last match at Fir Park and possibly for the club if we win, since there will be nothing really to play for in the last game. In the current financial climate we probably have to bring in at least £500K each season from transfers or else we will fall back into serious debt so there is no real option but to say goodbye to our most sell able assets at the end of each season.

Numbers up? The problem is no one wants to come apart from the hardcore fans. We were effectively letting people in for free a couple of weeks ago and we got a crowd that barely crept over 4,000. Season ticket and gate receipts make up more than 40% of our income, slashing season ticket prices means halving our working budget. Fans need to be realistic about price cuts, it means less money invested in the team. So do you want a cheaper season ticket and a poorer squad with no real chance of making the Top 6/Europe and risk relegation or do you want to pay the current rate and more than stay away from the bottom of the league. I've not been able to afford a season ticket this season and probably next season as well so I'd love for prices to come down but being realistic about it but unless there is a huge drop off in season ticket sales then it probably wouldn't be worth it over all for the club.

Don't know about season books but Brondby charge about 130 Kr. for a average Super League match which is roughly £15, so not really that different. Big matches against FC Kobenhavn are double the standard price.

On top of Sky money the Premiership clubs also make huge amounts from selling TV rights outside of the UK and the money is split evenly between all the teams (Man Utd get the same amount as Wigan for example). Each club can expect £23 million a year just from that revenue stream. Sky pays about the same meaning each Premiership club is guaranteed more or less £50 million from television each season. Season ticket money is almost irrelevant in the great scheme of things especially for smaller to medium sized clubs in the premiership, who don't have 50,000 - 60,000 season tickets to sell.

He didn't leave for Dundee, he was on loan at us and then his contract expired. Also Griffiths and Harkins didn't get promoted either so would you say no to them? There a loads of examples of us picking up good players from lowly circumstances and poor sides. I really hope you are being irreverent.
-
I think it's harsh to blame him for anything other than the 2nd goal which he should have done better at. OK, he was off his line at the first but not many players could have made that chip over him. What exactly he was supposed to do for the third and fourth goals, I'm not sure. There is too much finger pointing these days as if perfection is the very least expected.
-
Yeah but he has a 100 players to pick from.
-
Funny how he was a folk hero when he was here but as soon as he's at another club he's 'over rated'! Anyway I wasn't one of these excitable types that thought he was the best thing since sliced bread but surely based on his performances at Fir Park he'd make a decent addition to the squad, if not an automatic pick. He would be good cover for Lasley/Jennings and might suit some types of games.

Jim McAlister is 'definately' leaving Morton under freedom of contract. Was it last season he ripped Hibs a new arsehole in the League Cup? Might be worth a flutter. James Wesolowski and Mickael Antoine-Curier are both finishing up on loan deals at Hamilton - I think both would be welcome additions to our 1st team squad. Also at Accies Tomas Cerny has only one year left on his deal which means he could be approached in the January window on a pre contract. I think he's an excellent goal keeper one of the best in the league. I'd love to see Craig Bryson at Motherwell. He doesn't score the goals like Dorman does but I think he is overall the best midfielder in the bottom three.
