    Aberdeen

Aberdeen aren't that bad. If they won today, and who wouldn't be surprised at that considering our recent record at Fir Park against them, they would be 1 point behind us and would have won the same number of matches. Yet again the McGhee Factor makes people believe what they want to and not the actual facts. The Alex Miller Aberdeen, the Paul Hegarty Aberdeen, the Ebbe Skovdahl Aberdeen were all much worse than the current one. Anyway here is our recent record at Fir Park against Aberdeen Draw 1-1 Lost 0-1 Won 3-0 Won 2-1 Lost 0-2 Lost 0-2
  3. I'm afraid I think he has a point. On paper our record is good but I've not seen much entertaining football at Fir Park this season and that's the sad truth. In fact most of the performances I've seen this season have been plain dull. Die hards might be happy with points but we aren't going to attract new supporters because frankly its a bore. We had a good half against Kilmarnock and we did OK, but no more, against Hearts but Falkirk, Hibs, Rangers? You could probably count serious attempts on goal from those matches on one hand. Most teams in the league are playing what is essentially 4-5-1 and its not good for supporters to watch but its not really a Motherwell problem, more a football problem in general. Basically unless clubs change their tactical set ups then they are going to drive football out of business.
  4. Aberdeen are completely shagged financially. They have big debts and probably couldn't afford to bring in O'Brien unless one of their big earners moves on in January. I have no doubts O'Brien will move on at the end of his contract though.
  5. Non League teams still in the draw. Threave Rovers Inverurie Loco Works Deveronvale Auchinleck Talbot Irvine Meadow Edinburgh City Keith Wick Academy Cove Rangers Spartans There is two all non league ties so at least two of them well go through - Threave/Inverurie and Keith/Edinburgh City. Auchinleck have the hardest task away to Stirling Albion and Cove Rangers are away to Stenhousemuir but most of the rest of them look like they have a decent chance with home ties.
  6. The second round of matches was obviously mixed up by the postponements following Phil O'Donnell's death but out of the 10 matches that were played in sequence we won 6 out of 10 and scored 3 against Inverness, Gretna and Aberdeen and obviously the 5 against Dundee United; 19 in 10 matches overall.
  7. Managers always say they don't read the papers but maybe they should. Tony Mowbray made exactly the same blunder just days before...
  8. You need people from outside the club to ask the tough questions.
  9. When news stories like this are circulating the manager should at least stay around and answer questions. Not really good enough from Gannon.
  10. Ya Bezzer!

    Team Name

    Could have been McLeans Weans!
  11. Cannae blame Craigan this week.
  12. According to Radio Scotland... Ruddy.....OUT Moutaouakil....OUT Hutchinson....OUT
  13. Also the 4-3 semi final defeat to Rangers. With Faddy on fire I really thought we were going to win it that year. We completely outplayed Rangers that day, I think Rangers scored every chance they had including a 25 yard balloon from Bert Konterman that somehow went in. Jammy bastards. Life is so unfair.
  14. Or getting thumped off Ayr United. Another one that springs to mind was up at Tannadice. Dundee United scored a couple of minutes in while we were still waiting in line at the turn stiles. I'd just paid in and was going up the stairs when there was a big roar and Dundee United had scored again. 2 down before I was even in my seat. We ended up getting gubbed about 4 or 5 nil.
  15. These would be two of mine. Also Brian Welsh putting us out the cup after the last minute Big Softy game up at Tannadice. I also remember us losing our long undefeated run against Celtic with Pat McGinlay scoring at Parkhead to give them a 1-0 win. The thing about that match was it was actually the coldest night of the year and the temperature went down to about -15 or something! It was absolutely fucking baltic! You had to eat a constant stream of pies and bovril just to survive on the terrace. Then there was the 4-0 humping by Hearts at Tynecastle on the open end behind the goals in monsoon conditions. The definition of misery. I still say though that the Llanelli match was the worst performance I've ever seen. I was utterly ashamed after that one, I felt like I'd turned inside out.
  16. I'd be surprised if McGarry and Fitzpatrick are on big wages and when you add in things like signing on fee and appearance and win bonuses from playing regular football it might well be worth them moving on rather than sitting out their contracts. Even if its a small step down in wages it might be worth it for the security of a new longer term contract and getting the minutes on the park.
  17. Yeah, that was it, I checked it out. Getting confused in my old age!
  18. Well Hibs are 2nd in the league and were undefeated last month. Even just watching Motherwell matches, never mind the rest of the league, I'd have picked Steven Saunders over Jutkiewicz.
  19. It's obvious McGarry and Fitzpatrick are on the way out. To be fair to both those players, they aren't Top 6 quality and probably not SPL quality. Time to find their level. It also looks like Gannon doesn't fancy Lasley much. It's hard to tell though as Forbes and Coke have both played virtually ever match they have been available. Personally I think it would be a mistake to let Lasley go, as far as I can see an on form Coke is no better a player than an on form Lasley, and I don't mean that as an insult! I'd definitely want both at the club in case of loss of form or injury. One I think might be away in January is Steve Jennings. He's only on a one year contract and he hasn't settled in at all. He's not been injured recently, hasn't been selected and he's not even been coming off the bench lately. The fact that Lasley came on before him against Hearts maybe tells you all is not well.
  20. Strange. Hamilton Accies have only won two games this season, against Hibs and St.Mirren - the only teams we've lost to! Even stranger, they won at home to Hibs and away to St.Mirren!
  21. I think there is some kind of psychology behind it in that it draws the eyes and therefore makes it more likely the attacker will shoot closer to the goalkeeper.
  22. Mios at Hibs Kinniburgh's header that put us 4-3 up against Celtic McDonalds brace against Celtic Dougies winner at Ibrox Fitzpatricks last minute of extra goal v Hearts Coyle winner against Rangers after Andy Goram had saved everything we throw at them for most of the match.
