  1. Deserved win with a much better second half performance. Was noticeable that we actually kept the ball on the ground in the second half and Turnbull coming on gave us much more composure on the ball. Frear gave us a ball down the left hand side and Campbell looked more like himself. Accies didn't trouble us much in the second half but I'll still slightly concerned about us defensively. Overall though a win and a decent performance to end the first half of the season. We should not forget though that we have a lot of improvement work to do. Hopefully the squad will get freshened up a bit and we get a some more quality in.
  2. Good finish from Aldred. We've had a lot of corners but i think Accies have looked more dangerous coming forward. Defensively we've not been very good and Accies are cutting through us too easily. Midfield no real quality and the two strikers aren't really in the match. Similar to the last match, we've played worse but there is so much that needs to improve.
  3. With all the serious head injuries recently I'm amazed I've not seen anything about wearing rugby style caps. And with the research into brain injury from heading a ball I think it's only a matter of time before some kind of head protection comes in.
  4. He's played in 4 out of the last 6, mostly as a sub. There are loads of players in Celtic's inflated squad that get much less game time - Hendry, Scott Allan, Benyu, Compper, Gamboa, Kouassi, Mulumbu - so I don't see that happening.
  5. Dundee are releasing players left, right and centre so they are obviously going to strengthen during the break. St. Mirren will do also, as a lot of the Stubbs duds drift away. So the Dundee and St. Mirren teams could be radically different on the other side of the break. Will also be worth looking at our performance against Ross County in the Scottish Cup, as it looks like its going to be 2 from 3 in the Championship of which they are one of the challengers. A win today keeps Robinson safe for another 3 or 4 week spell of fixtures but if we lose the pressure is going to be on again. We started with 1 win in 8, form improved a bit with 3 wins but since then we are 1 win in 7 so if we fail to win today we've ended the first half of the season in as appalling form as we started it and Robinson can't really point to any improvement. The lack of goals or even goal scoring chances created lately against fairly modest teams is worrying.
  6. I think Hartley will be wheeled out over Maguire. If Turnbull doesn't make it exchange with Bigirimana. Other than that, pretty much.
  7. Like I pointed out we have failed to score in 5 out of 7. I think we can take the risk at this point and find out. Maybe 2 or 3 months from now we won't be able to, or, if we are forced to, it's a bigger risk.
  8. I'm not into scapegoating Sammon but let the facts speak for themselves. Last season Sammon scored 7 league goals for Partick and 3 of them were penalties. So while he may have scored more than Main I still don't think Sammon is the answer to our problems.
  9. I said about a week ago, half in jest, that when he signed Sammon it was based on height stats rather than anything else. But he's completely unsuitable for the type of football we play under Robinson. He wants the ball on the ground, he's not a guy that wants to go into aerial battles, he needs the ball played in to him, not launched at him. Unless we radically change our style of football Sammon is a non starter. And if we want to change our style we need a completely different set up and at least a couple of new players.
  10. Scott should have been given the last two games before the split to show what he could do. Main can't score, Sammon's on loan, Bowman is clearly leaving....it's common sense but our manager consistently makes these 'safe' decisions to the detriment of the team. As it stands we've failed to score in 5 out of the last 7. We could have a player in Scott but you'll never know unless you give him a chance.
  11. So if a pay in fan comes in and asks where to sit. Do you tell them to wait until every person with a ticket is in the stadium and in their correct seat?
  12. Well apparently there are going to be pay gates at the Hamilton which means it will probably be the same again. Neither pay in fans or stewards can have an encyclopedic knowledge of who is sitting in what seat. Confusion could easily be solved by printing tickets without a seat number. Why they don't do that you'll have to ask someone else but it's not the stewards fault. Under those circumstances they have an impossible job.
  13. He's an absolute bog standard Bottom 6, fringe level wide player but he IS a wide player. Playing him at least gives you an option we don't normally have. Not that I think Frear is a great player, see above, but I have said at various times I think we play better as a team with him starting matches. If we can bring in more/better wide players during the window, great, but at present, if you want to give us some width he's really the only option.
  14. Kilmarnock could have scored 3, 4, 5 today while our first meaningful effort on goal was in the 87th minute. Was far from our worst performance recently but Kilmarnock showed us how far we are behind teams with good coaching and organisation. Curtis Main - we cannot continue to have players behave like that. Manager needs to get serious with these players who, it looks to me, are just chucking it.
  15. Perhaps telling that while we've been comprehensively outplayed by Kilmarnock and barely had an effort on goal we've not been as bad as most of the recent matches. I think Frear has given a little bit of something but Kilmarnock are dominating possession. Bit unlucky with the goal (surely it was meant as a cross) and the injuries. If Kilmarnock get the next goal we can all go home but at 0-1 you are always still in the match.
  16. Tried to get a formation out of that line up and then gave up.
  17. True but we probably have a few more options at centre half than most other areas.
  18. Going with the whole counter intuitive thing since I really don't like the look of that line up I'm going to say we are going to get something out of this match. And I'll keep thinking that while I walk up to Fir Park and try and convince myself!
  19. Kilmarnock has probably been the best performance from an opposition team I've seen this season. I'm having disastrous premonitions about our upcoming visit to NDP so I think we really need to take at least something from this match. Kilmarnock tend not to lose these sort of games but they have drawn a few. Forget about results 6 out of the last 8 performances have been no where near good enough and about half of those have been completely unacceptable. We need to up our performances big time.
  20. Really slow, injury prone and not really been in good form.
  21. Stewards aren't great but probably about half the support turns up with 5 - 10 minutes to kick off.
  22. James Scott is sitting there. Put him in for two matches. See how he does. We have wide players - give Hastie a shot, give Watson a shot. Or just go out and spend more money on more players and then justify failure on having a small budget.
  23. I'll play. Carson----Poorish this season after last seasons excellent performances. May have been down to his medical condition. Gillespie---Performed relatively well so far Aldred-----He's surrounded by poor players so it's difficult to judge him. Starting to have my doubts. Mc Hugh---If any player represents the current side it's him. Occasional decent performances but more likely stupid decisions, mistakes, daft bookings, poor technical ability, slow as fuck etc... Hartley----Growls a lot to cover up the fact he's injured/slow/done Grimmy-----Gives you maybe 4 good performances a year. Just not good enough. Campbell----Well down on last year when he was our best outfield player. Like Aldred he is surrounded by poor players. Burn out or is it a morale issue? Bigi------One of the better ball players but he flatters to deceive, consistently doesn't track back. Like McHugh someone that never seems to learn from repeated mistakes. Turnbull---By miles our most gifted player and yet was ignored by the manager up until recently. Out of contract, if he gets an offer from elsewhere he'd be mad not to take it. Tait---Another player that's hard to judge due to him being played in the wrong position. Have witnessed him being ripped apart on a few occasions recently. Main----Very frustrating player. Does some things well but as a striker he couldn't hit the side of a barn. His shooting is terrible, like guy on the street in a pair of oxfords terrible. Johnson---Has proved he will score goals if you create chances. Maybe doesn't give you much else though. Ferguson---All I know is Airdrie fans didn't rate him. Maguire----I rate him. Maybe too much football in him to get a game in our team. Mbulu---Has been a bit shaky to be honest but he's learning the game. No blame can be put on guys like Mbulu, they should be getting mentored by more experienced players. Gorrin----Sportscene star. Hasn't had many chances but if you take someone like Turnbull he came in and made an impression. Gorrin hasn't done that for me. Rose----Was never very good but has got worse and worse. Be gone! Bowman---Hard worker but I'm afraid he just isn't good enough for this level of football. Sammon---Has been a scapegoat for some. The signing was baffling as his game is not suited to the style of football we play. Do we bring players in on height stats? Dunne---Was poor at first, came on to a bit of a game but I think he's been atrocious since he came back from his injury. His distribution is shocking - a big problem with the team in general. Frear---When Frear played well the team played much better with the width he gave us. However I think his confidence has been shattered under Robinson. Time to move on. Cadden-----Like so many a player who has gone backwards. Lots of goodwill towards him but does anyone know what to do with him? Needs to find a position and add goals to his game. Tanner----I like him a lot, for a spell last season he was one of the few positives. However with the extent of his injury it's going to be tough for him to get back to that any time soon. Donnelly/ATS------Poor and injury prone. Newall---See above. Hastie---Would give us some width. From what I've seen he's not as consistent as Turnbull but I think it's worth giving him a shot. Maclean---A player we failed to develop when he had excellent potential. Will leave soon. Under 20`s ---- James Scott should be stepping up. Adam Livingstone has been excellent, one difficult appearance against Celtic shouldn't rule him out. Would like to see guys like Broque Watson given a chance off the bench (under the right circumstances) to see if they are ready for first team football. A few others, say, Akeal Rehman, look like they have a basic level of ability that many of our first team players don't.
