The responsibility for letting off flares is on those that let of flares. No one else. Can we just stop making excuses? -

If there are 4,500 fans at a home match there are probably a 100 or less that are causing all these problems, pyro and other wise. Just ban them. Get rid of them. They are costing the club it's reputation and possible fines, so just take a hard line and get them to fuck. Problem solved. Why should we pander to a tiny minority in our fan base and let them cost the club money and potentially harm themselves or others? They have been warned time and time again and they don't give a damn so just stop fucking around and deal with it. -
Obviously we've been shite lately but we are still 5 points ahead of last season. Nothing against criticising the team and manager as long as there is a wider perspective on where we are. But you'd think it was -5 points for a loss sometimes with some of the comments. We've won 6 and lost 7 this season. Yet the criticism seems to vastly outweigh the praise.

1 clean sheet in the league since 24 Feb. That's 27 matches. We've only had 4 in the last 53 league matches.

I wouldn't write him off just yet but I'll say this. There have been quite a few players come to Scotland from Australia in recent years. Very few of them have been any good.
-
To be honest while they aren't great they aren't really any worse than the other teams around us.

Not sure what is more embarrassing the Motherwell 0 bit or the Hibs 3 bit. Abject performance. It was apparent from about 10 minutes we were going to do absolutely nothing in that game. Most of it is on the players, it's not the managers fault when a goalkeeper waves at a cross, but the manager also has to accept some blame when he's unable to alter the course of the game. That level of performance is unacceptable. Defenders looking at each other instead of defending, goalkeeper flapping, Hibs roughing us up and no one doing anything about it. Midfield basically absent with Lennon Miller trying to do a 4 man job himself. Up front it's all wrong. For me it's gone south since we introduced different players into the team. Stam, sorry, but he's been completely ineffective. Wilson moving into midfield, not happening. Seddon and Balmer coming in has put us backwards and turned us into a throw in freak show. Davor is a dead shirt, Halliday had improved but he was stinking today. Watt came on at HT and had zero impact. Upfront, I said it back then and I'll say it again. With Robinson up front we were much better than now. Maswanhise needs to be playing on the touch line instead of playing half the match as a centre forward. OK, McGinn is injured and that forces a change but there has just been too much tinkering around when we had a system that worked earlier in the season.

Don't think anyone is saying Miller is a first pick but you could have him in the squad and maybe give him some minutes of the bench. If you look at the three emerging young Scottish players this season, Barron, McCowan and Miller, none of them will get a look in under Clarke.

Of all the players who have started a league match in the Scottish Premiership this season 70% are non Scots.

Noticed that we've not taken league points three fixtures in a row at any point this season and we've won our last two.... Ross County have also only lost at home to Celtic and Aberdeen this season. Although on the other hand they have only scored 1 goal from open play in their last 6 matches (plus a pen and an OG). With 6 draws in 13 matches this season for County it might be a tight affair.

Had literally completely forgotten about Craig Clay. I will never forget Joe Chalmers performance at Greenock though. Jesus. 🤣

He move his hand in an upward motion. If you move your hand towards the ball it's always going to be a penalty. Well maybe not against Rangers and Celtic but almost always!

A lot of the current top level referees are pretty inexperienced. It's the same as inexperienced players they are going to make mistakes. In a way you can accept it from Hardie but Beaton is a different story.

I'm giving it to the man with the smallest shin pads in the world - Kaleta.

Motherwell love to make a 2-0 lead hard work! It's never been any other way! 🤣 First half there were times when it looked like we could rack up our highest win of the season. St Johnstone were so slack in their passing and we looked dangerous going forward. Thought Kaleta and Maswanhise caused them a lot of problems and gave us the out ball we've lacked when they've not been selected. Second half we just turn off a bit and St Johnstone got better. Unfortunate penalty, one of those ones where it's pretty soft but it's always going to be given when the player brings his hand towards the ball, or at least that's how I saw it in real time. After that it was the standard nervy last 20 minutes that we've all seen a thousand times before. Finally VAR did us a favour. Good 3 points, could have been better in the second half. And Davor missing that sitter at the end, yikes. Good to see Paton back. For me he's a McGinn-esque player. Decent, gives you 100% every week.

The whole striker thing is amazing. We are living in the 21st century when football as a whole has moved away from strikers. It's a legitimate tactic now not to play with a traditional striker. If you even take a look around Europe at the highest level the best strikers are guys like Lewandowski and Kane who, football wise, are from a disappearing era. I know Motherwell isn't a town that is on the cutting edge of modern development but surely fans have noticed football isn't like the 1980s any more.

It will be anathema to most Motherwell supporters to give any praise to Rangers but I thought Rangers were actually pretty good off the ball. Their press was good and they won every aerial duel. They made it difficult to get any flow going and they took Miller out the game. On the ball they are still way below where you'd expect a team with Rangers resources to be but the ugly side of the game they did well. However a lot of Motherwell fans simply won't accept that the oppositions performance had something to do with our performance. -
The last manager to actually take us forward was Graham Alexander so maybe you shouldn't be that surprised. A lot of our fans are living in cloud cuckoo land and a lot of them use supporting the club as an excuse to target individuals. The analysis on here in a lot of cases comes down to faces fitting.

St Johnstone have been better recently but they are still vulnerable defensively. You'd imagine the first thing they will do in the next window is get a goalkeeper cos the ones they have are probably the poorest in the league. Upfront Kimpioka and Sidibe are big dangers. It's almost like a bizarro St Johnstone, for so long successful with a tight defence without offering much up front, now the total opposite.

Kaleta was our best player.

Well the manager achieved our first semi final in a while and only the 11th League Cup semi final in our existence. We've rarely ever beaten the Old Firm in our post war history and the only two times we've beaten Rangers or Celtic in a semi final in 40 plus years was a historically bad Celtic team that didn't finished top 2 over a run of about 5 seasons, and a Rangers team managed by Pedro Caixinha that was even worse than this Rangers team. We've over achieved getting to the semi final. Slating the players and manager seems a bit unseemly to me. The odds before this match were Rangers 1.3 Motherwell 8.5. The bookies don't get it wrong very often. -

Poor performance. Never really got into the game at all. Looking for a decent start but we hardly had a touch for the first 10-15 minutes. Rangers weren't great but our goal came against the run of play. Midfield was never in the match, not even for a spell did we have any control and I don't think we've won a header in Rangers half all match. Even Lennon Miller was subdued today. You need big game players for matches like that and we don't have them. When Rangers scored 4 minutes into the 2nd half the writing was on the wall. We didn't get it right tactically but lets be honest most of the players froze as players at our level usually do. Just need to put it behind us and try and keep our decent league form going. -
Even if that was the case surely exits have to be kept clear? I'll take a look at the thread.

Rangers will always be favourites in these ties but this is a great opportunity to beat them in a semi final. Clement is under huge pressure and failure will see Rangers implode. Missing O'Donnell and McGinn with their experience is a bit of a blow though. Fingers crossed though, it would be a nice boost personally since I have a pretty shitty week coming up! -
Was anything made about the massive overcrowding in the South Stand during this game? Not for the first time when hosting Celtic. You'd think this kind of very serious safety issue would be a topic for discussion but I've not seen anything, although to be fair I've not been online much recently.
