  1. The Nadir news gets the juices flowing but hopefully we won’t be teased by a drawn out saga.
  2. That was fairly comfortable tonight. I’m not a fan of McLeish, Mackay or Gemmill but I feel Scottish football is in a decent position at present. We seem to be producing more good players and I’d suggest a higher proportion of the top talent tends to be model professionals these days. From Robertson and Tierney to our own Cadden and Campbell, these players are all dedicated to making the most of their ability.
  3. Scotland u21s far more pleasing on the eye tonight. Campbell certainly playing as the most advanced midfielder. I like what I’ve seen so far from Celtic’s Michael Johnston in this tournament. Good to see young Gilmour get a chance too.
  4. I didn’t renew my ST last season as I knew I was missing 4/5 games before Christmas due to holidays. Thought I’d still patg on a regular basis but in truth, I’ve been to Hampden more than Fir Park in the last year. Frightening how little you miss it.
  5. I’m not sure McHugh has the attributes Robinson likes in his back 3. Regarding the rumoured interest in Rangers players, it would be great to get a permanent deal for O’Halloran over the line.
  6. We’ve obviously had a very good season with some great highlights courtesy of a very focused and committed squad and management team. I really hope though that the upcoming transfer activity reflects a willingness to expand our style of play. Our budget should stretch to a few ‘footballers’ that can see us evolve. While our principles shouldn’t change, we must get better at managing the flow of the game with the ball and creating goal scoring opportunities.
  7. Think there is little doubt that Carson and Kipre will move on. Suspect there may be interest in Dunne too. As for our rebuild, I hope we can find a way to incorporate a Bigirimana style player.
  8. Fine day out spoiled by a horrible first half. For all the positive prematch chat we were keen to embrace, this was no better than a McCall/Butcher effort. I’m not one to normally slate McHugh but he was horrendous today. While I appreciate hoofball has got us to two finals, the Bigi cameo was far more pleasing on the eye. Credit to Celtic, they make scoring exquisite goals look incredibly easy and have cruised to a double treble.
  9. I asked while in the shop today. Shirts seemingly in stock but all hinges on sponsorship deal being signed and sealed.
  10. Hammell podcast was a wonderful listen.
  11. Tait unwell. Grimshaw injured. Good luck to Davie Turnbull tonight.
  12. Ah but there’s serious investment imminent... The one downside to the Stevie Gerrard appointment is that Gary Mac will get his name tarnished when it inevitably blows up.
  13. One of the upsides of finishing bottom 6 was that we’d avoid any 2011 style hammerings in the run-up to the final. Och well, not overly fussed.
  14. I’d expect us to play a strong team both Saturday’s to maintain a rhythm and go with a 2nd string at Firhill. Shame to hear Scott is injured but I wonder if Alfie could make the bench.
  15. First day of general sale and there was no lunchtime queue. I think the initial 12,700 may prove sufficient.
  16. Has the top tier of the South been on sale? That’s where I’m hoping to end up.
  17. Given the season Millwall have had exceeding all expectations, that’s a helluva award. One of my all time favourites is Hutchy.
  18. After seemingly thrown it away last week, Craig Moore’s 27th of the season sets Ayr on their way to promotion. Delighted for Moore.
  19. Strongly fancied Hibs today. Perfect example of how you can beat Celtic via a style of play we are very familiar with. If we can avoid injuries between now and 19 May and Celtic are slightly off it, we are in with a right good chance here.
  20. I’d be very surprised to see Kipre here by the end of August. Given the market in England and the sought after attributes Kipre offers, if he were to hit the ground running at a Championship club, he’d become a £7/8mil player overnight. For that reason, we should be looking for a fee in the same ballpark as the O'Donnell record.
  21. If we are to surpass the achievement of 91, then it’s by beating the champions. Attacking options are a worry though. For those of you that watch the u20s, is Alfie ready to step up? If not, we might need to explore the possibility of MacLean playing as a 2nd striker should something happen to Main or Bowman. As good as Celtic tend to be on the big occasion, there defence remains a weakness and they don’t like getting pressed. Hopefully we maintain a clean bill of health.
  22. So £30-40 a head after expenses? At £27 a ticket, we must be doing very well with hospitality.
