  1. I’m not sure why we’ve had the appearance at NDP if it’s not close to a done deal. If McCormack is set of returning to Scotland for the rest of the season, there are far more enticing options than Motherwell. The way the league is shaping up, we are one of the few clubs with little to play for. If plastic pitches aren’t a concern for his recent injury, I’d be recommending Killie all day long. Opportunity to work under a top manager that has a knack of turning careers around and have a right good go at winning the league.
  2. I feel like we are missing out, particularly when you consider all the midweek games pre and post winter break.
  3. One of my all time favourite nights following Motherwell. That goal was different class.
  4. A few weeks ago, I’d have expected Frear and ATS to move on but maybe they’ve earned a reprieve to the end of the season. While Rose is a loss, albeit a manageable loss, getting Bowman out the door is great news. I suspect the underperforming Main and Bigi are both keen on a move south. Fingers crossed something materialises. With regards new arrivals, has QoS forward Lyndon Dykes been mentioned on here? No idea if there is any truth in the rumour but there is some decent content on P&B.
  5. Who knows what’s driving this McCormack move but presumably the deal is just about done for us to go public and therefore not risk alerting the likes of Aberdeen and Killie to Ross’ availability. Hopefully it’s all signed and sealed as a trip to NDP isn’t exactly the easiest way to sell a return to Scottish football.
  6. He’s not exactly covered himself in glory in recent years and Robinson is all about ‘characters’ and good professionals. Having said that, I admire him hugely as a player - one of the most gifted footballers I’ve seen play for Motherwell - and I enjoyed watching him do so well with Leeds and Cardiff. Would be amazing to see him back at Fir Park if he’s fit.
  7. If the McCormack rumour comes to fruition, I struggle to imagine him and Robinson seeing eye to eye.
  8. Yeah, I have no doubt Turnbull has been laid low with a virus and the inclusion of Frear in the no.10 position was a late call. If Turnbull is well enough to return, I’d be inclined to play him off just one of our misfiring strikers - I don’t know why we always play two when they are so ineffective. Behind Turnbull, we could have two banks of four with Tait and Grimshaw down the right, ATS and Frear down the left.
  9. Shame Turnbull is missing but having watched utter dross on Saturday, I’m liking the changes. For the first time in a while, we may see a Motherwell lineup that potentially offers a bit of balance. Here’s hoping ATS and Frear can hit the ground round and neither are thrown under the bus with a half time withdrawal.
  10. There will be plenty of teams expressing interest in Turnbull. He’ll have been monitored closely since breaking into our under 20s at 15/16 and quickly becoming a standout performer. I think a move to the likes of Hibs or Aberdeen would serve him well ala McGinn and Ferguson but if a team like Southampton make an offer, who have an excellent reputation for youth development, it would be hard to turn down. Shame there is next to no chance of him staying at Fir Park. Under the current 1st team regime, Motherwell isn’t the place to be for a technically gifted youngster.
  11. Looking forward to seeing Kilmarnock play some decent football. Hopefully we can make a game of it. If not, the manager will be under real pressure heading to Hamilton. Please play with Tait on the right and a left footer on the left.
  12. Having being pulled off at half time at Celtic and criticised indirectly by the manager post match, I struggle to understand why Bigi was our first substitution today. A move that cost us a point. I also don’t fathom why we play Bigi relatively deep when you consider his attributes.
  13. Today’s performance wasn’t too different from umpteen games under Robinson. The context of the game was slightly different however. When you opt to throw a game at Parkhead by resting 5 players, there is no hiding place for the manager when we produce a subsequent performance that lacks energy, creativity and tactical awareness. I wonder how the Board and Burrows view the current situation. While the signed up to eye bleeding football when they offered him a long term contract, surely an inflated squad of journeymen doesn’t sit well with our supposed self-sufficient model.
  14. The biggest positive at the club in recent years has been the quality and commitment of the u20s team. Craigan is clearly a very talented coach and presumably has a new coaching opportunity lined up. Wish him all the best but he’ll be very difficult to replace.
  15. Young Celtic players breaking through have a habit of scoring against us. Two more added to a list that includes Hay, Beattie, Watt, Forrest etc. Really disappointed in Robinson’s approach tonight. I understand the need to rotate but we’ve effectively written off the points against a fragile Celtic under a rare bit of pressure. Shame, as one of Robinson’s refreshing characteristics at the outset was to fear nobody.
  16. Brilliant result. I strangely fancied us today despite going 5 years without a win in Perth. Credit to Robinson and the team, we tend to dig out a result when we really need it. Was pleased to see Mbulu and Dunne both start today, having a bit of pace either side of Alfred makes all the difference,
  17. We don’t play the style of football I like to see but given the circumstances, it was a relatively good performance imo.
  18. Delighted. We dug in to snatch a much needed point. A fine achievent after losing two centre halves early on. Thats good performances at home to Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen. Players need to start producing on a more regular basis in order to keep an improving St Mirren and Dundee at arms length.
  19. Johnson will rightly grab the headlines but Grimshaw was the best player on the park. He’s been instrumental in our improved form.
  20. I fancied us going into today but my confidence drifted when I saw us lining up with a back three. There was no need to worry though as we were right on it today, with Main getting back to his best and Campbell looking to have benefited from the rest. Delighted to see Johnson, an obvious natural goalscorer, take his chances. Special mention to Grimshaw who is at the top of his game. When he plays well, the team tends to play well. I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat Celtic on 5 Dec.
  21. In recent years, we’ve kept McCall, Baraclough and McGhee longer than we should have, leading to more embarrassing defeats than necessary. Same is happening with Robinson. I’m somewhat conflicted on the issue as I don’t think a manager should be sacked on the back of yesterday due to the pivotal nature of the questionable red card. However, the writing has been on the wall for some time, he’s barely got a tune out the players since the league cup final 12 months ago and in my eyes, his signing policy in the summer eliminated any ‘goodwill’. Unfortunately, Burrows and the Board are now in a horrible predicament as any new manager is going to get a baptism of fire with the run of games in December.
  22. At 1-1 I actually thought we were in with a decent shout of getting a result. Will need to see the pen back but the red card killed the game. Difficult to draw too many conclusions given the circumstances.
  23. Think I’m going to get a ticket for this. i hope we don’t stray too far from last week’s team but I’d be inclined to bring in Campbell at the expense of one of our misfiring strikers. 2-1 Motherwell. McHugh and Sammon.
  24. Like most Motherwell fans of my generation, I absolutely adore Lasley. However, I’d be surprised and disappointed if he’s in the running. He’s been too involved in a setup that has seen us churn out some of the worst football we’ll ever see. The only man in Fir Park who potentially has the credentials to take over the reins at present, is Craigan. And unless he is willing to take the plunge, it’s time to look left field. Burrows and the Board need to be on the lookout for someone that values quality over quantity and places faith in youth.
  25. Not surprised Tait dropped, he’s looked off the pace this season. Hopefully ATS is ready to make a positive contribution as the lack of balance has hindered us for a long time. Good luck to young Turnbull.
