  1. I also thought Moult looked lost when he came on against Derby. The return to England was never going to be straightforward given his lack of pace and strength. One thing we know though is that’s he’s a determined character and if he gets a run, he’ll more than likely score goals. I hope he sticks it out at Preston but Rangers has always looked the perfect move for him.
  2. I wouldn’t be averse go giving Maguire, Turnbull and Scott some game time in the coming weeks, most likely from the bench. Surely however Bigi and Grimshaw have to play on Saturday as they’ve barely kicked a ball and at least one will be starting at Hampden.
  3. We all have our own opinions of player ability and formations but there are some ridiculous shouts here.
  4. Fingers crossed Campbell was taken off as a precaution. I don’t like the idea of going to Hampden without McHugh, Tanner, Rose and Campbell. Putting preparation for the semi to one side, I don’t understand why we went with the strongest team available tonight. It’s been proven numerous times this season that a high intensity performance can’t be replicated 3/4 days later. Having said that, we do have a severe lack of options. As Steelboy suggests, we only have 1 fit striker on our books that is of adequate quality. Hence why we win so few games.
  5. Maybe I’m too obsessed with the semi but I can’t understand why we aren’t starting Bigi or Grimshaw tonight. Fingers crossed Campbell stays clear of injury or we’ll be going to Hampden with no midfield.
  6. Is it not the case that half the West is yet to open? Aberdeen fans I work with think anything above 12k would exceed expectations.
  7. We’re going to have between 6-8000 in a stadium that is almost 2/3s empty. No need for the club to bang on about ticket sales. Having said that, I don’t quite get the sense of apathy/complacency suggested by one or two. I’ve not put so much thought into a Motherwell game since the playoff at Ibrox.
  8. Full focus on Hampden. I’d be inclined to rest the likes of Campbell and anyone else carrying a knock. Given that at least one of Bigi and Grimshaw will surely start the semi, both need to play on Tuesday. I wouldn’t be averse to keeping Main under wraps either with a view to playing our semi team at Perth on Saturday.
  9. Outstanding performance from Curtis Main.
  10. Craig Moore nets a late winner for Ayr, 25th of season.
  11. Really enjoyed that today, just a shame we seemingly drafted in Stuart McCall for the ht teamtalk. As disappointing as the 1st 15 mins of the 2nd half were however, credit to the players for digging in and regaining our composure. In preparation for the semi I was hoping we could put in two competitive performances against Celtic and Rangers and we’ve more then done that. Therefore we don’t need to be afraid of anyone. The one niggling concern however is that we have absolutely nobody in midfield that is capable of putting their foot on the ball and taking the sting out the game. We could really do with such a player for Hampden. Special mention for Curtis Main, he really is a machine and I fancy him to score a screamer or two before the season concludes. Credit to Jamie Murphy too, textbook goal that we’ve witnessed numerous times.
  12. Good result today after a sticky spell. Anyone know how Shea Gordon is getting on?
  13. If Campbell fails to make it, personally I wouldn’t take any unnecesary risks, then it will be interesting to see whether Bigi or Grimshaw come nto the midfield. The way things are going with injury and suspension, young Turnbull might be in line for some game time come the semi.
  14. Hendry, Souttar and Hanley will likely be the options for right centre half. We could be doing with some experience though to talk the young ones through the game, particularly if we go for 3 at the back. While Cadden hasn’t developed as much as we’d have liked this season, I think he could play his way into the Peru/Mexico trip with some good performances in the upcoming high profile games. While Budapest showcased some of the talent we have at our disposal, right wing back is one of the few areas we lack any genuine depth in quality.
  15. IIRC, the seating arrangements are very similar to the St Johnstone semi final. I’d expect the majority of our support to be split between the North (towards the centre circle) and the North East corner where the singing section will be with a sprinkling of fans and family members in the South.
  16. Pleased for Murphy. Hopefully gets some more game time in Budapest.
  17. Turned off during the 1st half. Utterly grim tactics.
  18. Cadden and Campbell both starting in Andorra.
  19. Unless he has picked up a knock, it I’d looking increasingly likely his future lies elsewhere. Having said that, the injuries in midfield are piling up a little so hopefully he gets another shot. From memory, he was starting to feature as a right wing back for the u20s, which is never his position.
  20. Robinson mentioned pre-match that Rose has picked up an injury in training and we’ll know more this week.
  21. Carson, Aldred, Tait and Main excellent but Campbell is just a notch above.
  22. Well done Motherwell. Plenty heart and determination to see us through in relatively comfortable fashion. I’m convinced that if we can get to the final with a close to full strength team, Celtic will be there for the taking as they look set for their holidays already.
  23. Very naive from Kipre but Brown will be embarrassed by his reaction. Shame, we were very dominant for much of the first half against a lacklustre Celtic.
  24. Celtic have been under par for much of this season but have some of their best players returning from injury. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Armstrong (who loves playing against us) and Roberts make their first start in a while. As much as I don’t enjoy our hoof ball this is the type of game it can pay dividends. The less time the ball spends in midfield the better and as Steelboy suggests, their defence is to be got at. Boyata and Ajer shouldn’t enjoy playing against Main and Bowman. With the semi on the horizon, it’s important to get a couple of confidence building results beforehand. Point here would be excellent. Maybe more if Celtic show any hint of complacency after the Ibrox win.
  25. Wasn’t overly fussed about the outcome of tonight but our shitfesting approach is better suited to taking on Aberdeen. Lets see who turns up on the day. Interesting to see which team can cope better without their captain.
