  1. Wasn't sure to believe him. Taking a photo of 'Someone (half way)famous' and then saying, "cheers, who the fuck are you?" doesn't always tend to bring the best answers. probably a bit like the stale farts that were getting released on the drive home on Friday morning.
  2. Think he said he was filming a Coronation Street Special, personally I think he was looking for a pint of flat guiness and a lap dance. Is that yon new Adidas SL-Pizza Sauce, been trying to get a pair for ages now Good to see the wee dug making an appearance, 2 Euro games under her belt (but disane wear colours - shame on her)
  3. PM your mobi and I'll give you a shout if I'm anywhere interesting. More than happy to rip you right off with the carriage back to the UK. Or you could just wait until your out here in February. (Season doesn't kick off again until March, so no watching Celtic reserves). Anyway, back on topic, when they came to Ujpest two weeks ago they were protecting a two goal lead and let Ujpest dictate the game. Ujpest pressured them a few times in the first half without scoring, but you always felt that they (Steaua) could score at anytime, which they did, winning 2-1. I would expect much the same on Thursday. As for the hearding of the fans before and after the game, Steaua have been threatened with a 3 year ban after the last round, probably won't happen but the club and fans were probably just being careful as to not have any further problems
  4. Its waaaay too hot for trainers Nupmty Bro bought another pair on the way to the airport
  5. thats for sure, never knew that everyone had been directed to the ground until your text. It must be my Eastern European suntan. Ach its back to normality now, back at work, 36c, clear blue sky, its a hard life
  6. Got back yesterday, another cracking trip. Drinking sessions and late nights with Decorator, Big Tache, Infamous Wee Grafter, et al (all top guys), what the fuck is up with ordering Brandy and getting Pernod/Ricard? The dug making it's second Euro trip. Getting the tram to the game and quite possibly being the only 3 Well fans that weren't shepherded into the ground and sitting in a boozer round the corner with the Steaua fans. Leaving after the game and getting the bus back to the city with the Gypsys and Skinheads. Beat by a much better team which is no shame, roll the next Euro trip.
  7. There's tonnes of cash machines and in general no issues with taking money out. There's even a Boots the Chemist FFS
  8. Theres an bar, just down the road from the Intercontinental, next to one of the casinos. As its outdoor, it would be easy to spot everyone. By the link the person posted above, IIRC its just about there. Oh and there is no problem in using your cards in Romania, use both a Hungarian Visa electron and my HBOS debit card all the time.
  9. Seems UEFA have threatend both Ujpest and Steaua with 3 year Euro bans after the last round. Probably come to nothing. All this for creating an atmosphere.
  10. So what your saying is don't wear my Ujpest top next week? Looking forward to it next week. Have a great weekend.
  11. €50k for the banner, mind you it was funny, you did piss a nation off It took the Hungarians a bit of time to find their range with the flairs last night, however some throws were of olympic standard. Were not used to that sort of thing in the UK, hope you'll put a show on next week.
  12. Wouldn't be the best move. It'll take me 11-12 hours from Budapest and its 21 hours from Budapest to sunny Larkhall via the tunnel. if you fancy driving, why not fly to Bratislava or Budapest and hire a car from there. The roads are pretty good in Romania (no motorways though) and it is a lovely country.
  13. yir mental What did your banner say last night?
  14. Shouldn't be a problem. The flairs and banners are par for the course out here and last nights game did have a bit of added spice with it being Hungary/Romania.
  15. Hard to tell from last nights game as it was all but over from the first leg, however they did look pretty good. It wouldn't be impossible to beat them, but we would have to play extremely well in both ties. Speaking to Willie McStay after the game and he reckoned that Steaua would be serious contenders for the trophy. I'm not sure I buy into that, but the level of oppostion will be a much sterner test than the last two. At least its an adventure and a hell of a pre-season.
  16. It was a good night out, the game wasn't up to much, you were comfortable winners. But it was a good atmosphere. What happened with the buses, was there an accident with the police? Looking forward to next week now, couldn't believe our result, 8-1 brilliant.
  17. Not much of a game last night in a footballing sense, Steaua sat back protecting their lead at the start and opened out in the second half to win comfortably 2-1. Their keeper was flapping a bit in the first 20 minutes, but then did pull off a few good saves. All in all they look a pretty decent team. Its not impossible to beat them, but we would have to be on top of our game to do so. Then again after last nights 8-1, you never know. Certainly that result is making some big news in the Romanian press. So pics below from the game, the players had to be taken from the field just after half time for 20 minutes while the fans tried to set fire to each other. 18. Theers not too much around the Parliament area, its mostly local government buildings and is about 4km's from the stadium.
  19. Ryanair/Wizzair, I think they are some Italian low costs airlines as well. The club charter would obvioulsy be the easiest.
  20. Just in from the game. Classic evening. Wd minute delay at half time for crown trouble And manged to gate crash the post match press conference posing as the Motherwell times.. Any Romanians pick it up, post the link. Not many options for flying into Bucharest. Certainly no direct flights. Via Italy for those with time and little money.
  21. I spend quote a lot of time in Romania (working) usually Oradea, Timisoara, Arad and Cluj. Have been down in Bucharest several times and even got as far as Constanta. I think a draw or an Ujpest win tonight, but not enough to overturn the 2-0. I just hope that Motherwell can beat Flamuntari so we get set up a good game for the next round. I work in Ujpest and I understand the "Bulldogs" are planning something special for tonight in retaliation for last weeks banner. Could be interesting for sure.
  22. Much depends, if Ujpest win through (unlikely) you'll need more for hotels in Budapest as it is a major city break destination, about a €100 per night min, plus beer money. Prices of food and drink vary, but will always be cheaper than the UK. Bucharest will be much cheaper, you'll get decent accomodation for around the €60 mark and food and drink will be cheaper, but again it would depend where you go. Like all places, if you hit the tourist haunts you'll get ripped off. Travel wise is anyones guess, getting to Budapest would be very easy, Bucharest a little more challenging. Both Bucharest and Budapest have two airports with a mix of scheduled and low cost airlines. If flights are proving a challenge for Bucharest and cost is more important than time, you could look at going through Italy (or Spain) as Romanian language is a latin based language and is therefore hugely popular with the Italians and Spaniards. Both places are safe by western standards, Hungarians can be a little grumpy, Romanians are really friendly. Hope this helps
  23. I have vague recollections of that? Jesus, can't rememeber. Apple of ground, ma dug telt me. Think I need to lay off the booze, brush up on my acting skills and not wear ill fitting clothes. Ultras, I saw the banner on the TV the other day, your right it could give you a lot of trouble, but it was highly funny! You probably could have seen it from space. Good luck tonight.
  24. Never a truer word spoken. Are you guys heading out this way, if we get a result tomorrow? Don't think Pete was too sure.
  25. Was down at Ujpest's ground earlier getting my tickets for the game tomorrow and got interviewed by Romanian TV (Pro2). They wanted to know about Willie McStay and how bad the Ujpest fans were? When they found out that I supported Motherwell, they wanted to know how much trouble the Motherwell fans would be in Bucharest Allegedly at the last round in Bucharest the Steaua fans had a large banner stating: "How long can a Hungarian women hold a shite in? Nine Months" Any of the Romanians on the forum will have a laugh tonight, I'm not cut out for TV.
