  1. Your right, unfortunately there will be many at the game on Thursday that are a little "brain washed" which will create and interesting atmosphere. Hopefully plenty of banter will ensue without any trouble. Certainly the police will be out in force. To be fair to you, its is more the Hungarians that have the issue, Nemzeti front etc, they need to look forward not backwards Anyway, I'll second nethrtonwellfans sentiments, you'll be able to share a drink with us, hopefully I can do the same with yourself in Bucharest.
  2. Thursday is going to be an interesting day, how many do you think you will bring up to Budapest? I know we hate the English, but not with the passion you guys have with Hungary. I'll be at the game, but unfortunately will be working before hand. Enjoy your trip.
  3. Its an outside chance, but you might get your trip to see Ujpest sooner than you think. Got to agree fully with everything you say, great trip and great people and a great set of Well fans. Mind if either we or Ujpest don't get through, keep in touch and we'll arrange the Ujpest/Ferencvaros derby for you. Cheers Greig
  4. A few picks from the game
  5. To be honest the club will have the same problems of logistics as Albania. Too short notice to get things organised, especially if it is in Bucharest. However, for the fans it will be much easier to arrange. I think the Europa League set up is a bit of a farce.
  6. Not really, they just like a good fight, hence the avitar, which was from the 2006 riots in Budapest (the police retaking a stolen tank in the city centre). To be honest the Hungarians aren't really anti Russia, there big hatred is with Romania due to the first World War. Hence the reason that although Steaua should win easily, there will be that much fire in the game, I wouldn't write Ujpest off.
  7. Well, it was a "home" game for us as will the next round if we make it. If the club had four or five weeks to make "firm" plans it would be just about do-able, but not over three working days.
  8. Called it right Daver, got back at 1am this morning. I drive back to Scotland via the Channel tunnel and it took 21 hours, and Bucharest would be another 10. Add what you want for a bus rather than a car. Not impossible but you wouldn't smeel nice at the end. The road network from Scotland down to the Romanian border is motorway all the way. Through Romania, its not motorway but the road is good, apart form crossing the Carpathians. There will be a few options though by plane and train. I'll keep you posted, anyone needa anything (if we get through) let me know.
  9. Yeah, Its me, I used to post as Ujpest Ultra. Keeping quite as I'm just back form Albania. Delighted with the draw. Obvioulsy would be great if we draw Ujpest as its 10 minutes form my flat. But am also delighted with Bucharest, which is also a great place and the Romanians are great people as well. Bucharest should win comfortably, however the game in Budapest next week will be highly charged (Hungarians hate Romanians), so turning it around is not impossible, esbecially with the McStay scenario as well. I'll be at the Ujpest/Steaua game on Thursday, should be a laugh, I'll let you guys know how it goes. To be honest we could beat Ujpest, but think we will get beat with Steaua. Hertha Berlin played in Budapest this week in a friendly against Ferencvaros and there was a lot of trouble, 15 Hungarians arrested by all accounts.
  10. The wife and I got home at 1am this morning after a 17 hour drive. Absolutely fantastic trip. It was great meeting the other 8 idiots that made the trip. Thanks to all at the club who were extremely helpfull (Both Leeanne's, Jade, et all) and thanks to the Albania TA and Alb_Ctr for their great advise. And massive thanks to all the Albanians we met, I don't think I've ever met nicer people. Although the club may have not got everything 100% right, based on the knowledge they had and the short notice, I think they did make the right call. No matter how great the Albanians were, getting a large numbers of fans, through Tirana and down to Vlore would be weeks and weeks of organisation and would have een very expensive and problematic.
  11. Flumetntari don't have floodlights, hence the reason for the early kick off. The club probably didn't get everything 100% right, but under the circumnstances; in and straight back out was probably the right option.

Absolutely no idea how to post pictures, but some from thr ground yesterday. Looks like its going to be very hot today http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy179/g...pg?t=1247729320 http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy179/g...pg?t=1247729283 http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy179/g...pg?t=1247729194 http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy179/g...pg?t=1247729346
  13. Spoke to the club yesterday about tickets and including my 2 and decorators 4, they had moved 6 in total. So think 10 would more realistic. Had an overnight in Macedonia and will be in Albania in a couple of hours.

As long as I don't take the wrong turning at Nis, I don't have a blue tin hat or Kevlar.

All set now. Slight change of plan, leaving first thing tomorrow, driving down through Serbia to Macedonia. Overnight in Tetovo, then finish the journey on Wednesday. Don't imagine they'll be a lot of people making the journey, but hope to meet those who do.

Will be using my on car. The green card has expired, so that's my first job tomorrow morning.
  17. Got to be honest, alb_ctr has sent me over a great deal of information about Albania and gone out of his way to make the trip as easy as possible (as has Albania_TA). I can't get why you should think he is a nutter, I would say it is very harsh.

Hope you get a chance to come down. Meant to ask, what is the system on the roads, are they toll, vignette or free?

I did consider the flight but at £500 quid a chuck I binned that idea pretty smartly. Pretty used to driving out here (Bosnia, Ukraine, Serbia, etc), but was aware that Albania was possibly worse. Coming down the Adriatic Highway as I understand the last two tunnels were opened in May, thus avoiding the 3 hour wait at the border from Hungary to Serbia. Are you planning on going to the game yourself? PS: did try and PM you, but it was blocked. Cheers G

Hi, a couple of questions for you. Will be travelling down from Budapest on Tuesday, staying over night in Podgricia and finishing the drive on Wednesday. What sort of driving time should I allow from the border to Vlore and how's the state of the roads? I'll take care of tickets once I get there, I assume it should be straight forward. Cheers G
  21. The perms not what it used to be
  22. Thats a fair point, I suppose it depends how hard we play (at the negotiating table), but if these guys aren't paraded at the suggested new clubs on Monday morning, I would reckon they'll be playing on Thursday.
  23. The clubs that have been suggested as buying our assets have no participation in Europe and the start of the domestic seasons is still a long way off. Could it be feasible that any agreed transfer would not happen until after the first and possibly even the second round of the Europe League?
  24. I'll stand corrected, but I've never seen any of these quotes or references. But its not me he has to convince its prospective employers and he's been over looked a few times and for all the alleged plaudits, his managerial track record speaks for itself. But that sounds too much like Luc bashing, he is a legend and if he is a future manager of Motherwell, I hope I'm wrong.
