I agree with this, we have a better quality of player than last year (although we don't have a working mid like Campbell) but Alexander's dogmatic approach to formation and surrendering of possession and only defending inside the penalty area is sheer madness. Players like KVV , Watt and Roberts will score goals if you deliver them the ball in areas they can score from, not when they get it on the half way line or out on the touchline, that's not where a centre forward should be. Starting every week with a heavily outnumbered midfield is also madness. If Alexander thinks he can mould these players to do what he seems to want to do is fantasy. This is not a reaction to this game, it's more a reaction to the last few, where teams like St Midden have played us off the park. Even the games we won this season, we've been out played for long periods in them and scored one or two on the break.

We don't have the players to play 4-3-3 and that was even exposed in the early part of the season in the league cup games when we were outplayed by lower division opposition. Persisiting with it is madness.

On a side note, heard Alexander interview on the radio before the game and he actually said "The last couple of results didn't go our way but our stats from these games were amazing and gives us positivity to take into the game today". What the actual fuck ??

If you take our goal out of the equation, where we scored with one of what, two or three at the most forays forward, we've just basically let them shit all over us the way we did against St Mirren. Wave after wave of passing all the way through us that always end up in our box. 90% of time we win possession, we've lost it within 2 or 3 passes.

So thats it fucked now then.

Van Veen is a big rough arse centre forward (albiet with slightly more foot skills than some). He's scored two goals from good crosses into the box where he's got on the end of them in the six yard box. He won't score goals when he's receiving the ball out on the wing or on the half way line. No striker will.

I think Alexander has lost the plot (happy to eat my words if required at 1.50 pm). I think the sign of a shit manager is one who tries to shoehorn players into his formation and style rather than try to find the most effective formation that plays to the strengths of his available players.

Correct, outside the few mins around our goals, we were utter crap. Couldn't pass, midfield that neither defended or attacked, pumping balls up into spaces where we had no one, ending breaks trough midfield with backwards passes and even they were inaccurate. Absolute dross. If Alexander finds a way to defend that or keeps going with the same shite formation, we'll drop down the league as time goes on as teams realise they can play right through us.

No he wasn't, he was left one on one with the entire defence at least 10 yds up the park and staring at the linesman. The left back, who's channel the ball was played into was nowhere to be seen.

I'd actually take off Woolery and Shields for oHara and KVV, play 4 in midfield and two up top. They are murdering us in midfield, and our better ball players (Slattery and Goss) are chasing the ball to give it to Grimmy, thats totally the wrong fucking way round !!!!!

Fuck sake Motherwell. Every fucking time we get the ball in space in the midfield area, Grimmy runs forward 10 feet then stops and plays a shit misplaced pass back the way. We are really really pish at anything that involves the ball. Alexander persists with a formation that doesn't work and wastes the talents of the decent players we do have by playing them out of place and shoehorning players into positions beyond their capabilities. That was a pile of absolute shite and we're lucky not to be behind.
