As it was a Motherwell director that is quoted in the original article and it is described as then I take it that it was Motherwell who sued and having won, the money must have went into motherwells bank account.

Would you say and feel the same if it was someone who would supported rangers and sang their bile? or is your problem that you are a bigot?
-
OK rab, you've got me convinced - sign him up.
-
Would be worth a try but I think his wages might be a problem.
-
Outstanding stuff - nearly jumped off my seat when the 3rd goal went in! Just got to pick the right time to show this to my Rangers supporting boss

I think that cup games are split 50/50 are they not?

That statement should be put up in the training ground changing room this week. Great result lads.

Yes it does cost a lot of money to run a club but my point is that last year we finished 3rd, which I assume is higher than we budgeted for. This would give us a surplus at the start of the season. Now add JP's transfer fee, the money from Everton selling on McFadden, what little we got for McCormack and the Euro money (TV and gate money minus the cost of the away trip)and budget to finish in the top six. This is what I would expect to be used to run the club this season without going into the red. That is unless the cost of running Fir Park is so high that it eats up all this cash - in which case the sooner we move the better as we ain't going to manage to finish 3rd or 4th or win a cup every year!

Thought provoking stuff, "Many football clubs rely on philanthropic support, .........Yet, their financial support for their chosen club does not buy them a lifetime guarantee of immunity from criticism or a place in the hearts of the beneficiaries, the supporters, in perpetuity. Perhaps they understand this when they get involved but I suspect that they would sometimes expect to be cut a bit of slack." - got to agree with this statement, we would be in a worse state if we didn't have JB's backing. "There will be a shortfall in our income this year unless we finish top four or win the Scottish Cup and that has ongoing implications." - can't get my head round this part, we've spent nothing over the last 6 month's, so whats happened to the money we made for finishing 3rd last season? "In Scotland, we must protect our futures by acting now where we have to. As supporters we should try to see the long-term strategy as well as demanding short term success." - Who's been reading this site then? Ye better all watch what your saying

I for one will never give up my dillusions of grandeur and still can't understand why Kaka is even thinking of signing for any other club - the boy must be soft in the head!

100% correct mate, the '91 team are all legends!

Did there not used to be a club store on brandon parade many (many) years ago but it got closed down because it wasn't making money?
-
Did you have this same civic sense of right and wrong as you watched money being poured into Motherwell in the early 70's (new civic centre, new town centre and new road layout) at the expence of Wishaw, Carluke, Shotts etc?

Slightly off topic but.... Got to agree with you regarding the "criminal amount of time to get going" but if my understanding of things are correct then two things contributed to this more than inept councillers or council (although I'm not saying they are entirly blameless). 1. When the 'Craig closed and the land was made available for redevelopment, where as SLC and WLC were developing on farming land, NLC were looking at having to decontaminate the 'craig - something which I believe is still ongoing. This process put us a few years behind the other councils. 2. South lanarkshire council have tried to block most of the proposed uses of the ravenscraig site and have make NLC jump through hoops to get where they are as they tried to protect both Hamilton and EK from people and business locating at ravenscraig. Over the years I've heard many different ideas for the redevelopment of Ravenscraig, including a technology park and campus for both Glasgow and St Andrews Universities - none of which have came to much. We now appear to be at a point where building work is starting and the one thing that I believe the council should insist on no matter who builds what, is that the developers must use local labour, giving the people of the area the chance of employment first.

Great to hear that he is recovering fine but as previously said I'd also hate to see him rushed back before he's fully recovered.

I really hope that the wellboys are looking for more than just to stand up because I think they will just be hit will rules and regulations as to why they are not allowed to stand. Can any of you see the police tearing up procedures? What would happen if at the next Rangers or Celtic game all of the South stand stood and when told to sit down they pointed at the East stand and said "but they're standing so go f*ck youselfs". Personally I'd like to see a standing area reinstated at Fir Park but where? The only two options I can see are: In front of the Main stand - can't see either the Wellboys or the Club liking this option. Where the Wellboys "sit" at the moment - but how can this be done without restricting the view of others further along in the East stand?

looking at this story makes me think that either Smith could be sold during the transfer window and Mannus bought for a nominal fee or this could be part of a ploy by us to make Smith sign a new contract.

got to agree with you on the points you make and although it is correct that MM will (probably) jump at the next decent job that he is offered, while he is here i think that both he and the team should be backed to get us out of the position we are in and back up the table to a position where I believe they are more than able to achieve (given their combined talents) - namely in the top six. As I've said before, heres to a better second half of the season. 'mon the 'well!

Thought he had a decent game considering it was his first start. The thing that annoyed me most was that he tends to set off on a run and then cuts back before a pass could be made to him. It must have been frustrating for the other players not being sure whether to play a long pass and hope he kept running or wait for him to cut back. One things for sure, he can only improve during the second half of the season. All the best Jim.

Thought he played well in front of the defence on saturday, solid and not afraid to put in a tackle - could he be the new Psycho?
-
my thoughts are with his family RIP Phil.
-
Best of luck to him wherever he goes, thanks for the memories Chris.

Voted for Paul Quinn, played well in midfield and also got back to cover the defence - I'd be happy to see him play in midfield and keep Saunders at RB. PS McGarry must be playing well training to get picked - just wish he'd do it on a Saturday!
