TBH, I'm not sure why people get so worked up about players leaving a club like ours. Our public business model is to bring in players - especially those with a point to prove and/or a career to resurrect - and move them on.

If Watt does move in Jan, we still got a bargain by signing him for free and getting some top performances from him. The fact that he bought into our club and its community philosophy is a credit to him and our club's signing strategy.

Despite his good showing, I think it's more of a risk for TW to leave for a club like Utd. than it is for us to lose him (just ask John Sutton), but I certainly won't bear any grudges when he go. At the end of the day, it's a job, and most of us consider better wages when they are offered, even if we don't always take them.

And, as always, we can hold him up an example of how beneficial our club can be to a career when we are looking to recruit.

and he did a good job. Unlike so may others we have signed.

  2. I was there and never seen it since.  Funny how the memories of every goal has gone.

Got to laugh at the third goal celebration, like to see MR Van Veen reading this doing the celebration in reminder of the great POD.

    Gone but never forgotten.

  3. As I've always said pay attention to OnTheFringes posts, there usually bang on - and feel closer to the inner confines.

From my perspective things are relatively simple from a fans perspective

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/motherwell-fc/alletransfers/verein/987

Outlines our outbound transfers - note the heroes and villians about inter divisional transfers. I don't think there's any bad blood with anyone moving down south.

Tony Watt therefore feels the wrath. Has he been good in the dressing room, my gut says yes and helps a positive spirit and that will be missed. It was a hard spell for us facing relegation and Tony helped us in times where we faced kilmarnock-esque oblivion. Thank you Tony - do I hope you do well, not really. Do I thank you for your performances in a well shirt....yes, and well done.

Worst one was selling Owen Coyle pre cup quarter final v Inverness......that was unforgivable....

    We move on.

  4. The only way I would be playing O'Donnell in terms of giving the guy a chance would be to change formation to a 3-5-2 (0r 5-3-2) dependant on attack/defence.

    Kelly

    Sondre, Ojala, Mugabi

    O'Donnell, Slattery, Goss, Donnelly, Carroll,

    Watt, Van Veen

Accomodating this make us more solid in midfield - but completely lacks width. Would be dull and not much fun, but may get results.

  5. Mcginley is an easy target.
The imposter is on the other side.
Again I repeat how many goals is this guy going to / has cost us this season.
Didn’t put in a tackle all day and allowed cross after cross unchallenged.
He’s a bottom six player if that. I’ve had enough of the easy target brigade. O’Donnell out.

I used to play football with Bobby Madden and he was a decent player but he spoke to everyone on the pitch. Like him or loathe him but he tries to let the game flow because he does understand.

In regards to the game, maybe I'm getting old - but no disloyalty - I was disappointed but I thought the game itself was quite good and kept me entertained on a Saturday afternoon.

I found that such an infuriating afternoon - Hearts we’re nothing special (Baningime and Boyce aside), but they didn’t have to be. Maybe they could have upped it a gear if they’d had to? And in spite of the two self-inflicted wounds, if we’d got one back with the chances we had, I still felt we might have got something from the game. KVV looked like he was carrying an injury, and should have been taken off long before he was.

I also really hate refereeing like that… any contact = foul, and when the tone is set both sets of players look to buy fouls. I don’t mean by diving, but putting themselves deliberately in a position where the opposition player makes contact, they fall over, foul. I always think if the early ones get waved away, then it’s a lot less likely that the players start looking for it at every opportunity, and the game is better for it. It’s like that pretty much every week now I think. One of the root causes is refs that have never played the game at any kind of level.

I used to play football with Bobby Madden and he was a decent player but he spoke to everyone on the pitch. Like him or loathe him but he tries to let the game flow because he does understand.

  8. Disregarding all opinions as I like to do when I jump in this forum I thought barring Aberdeen first booking John Beaton had an excellent game. If he was Willie Collum bye bye Van Veen. He was always up against a natural free flowing game as every single player that went down caught the ball on their hands giving him little other in modern day refereeing to give the foul in the direction of that play.

other than that! Loved the new Norwegian and if I were I boy Tony Watt would be my hero.

I thought Lamie and Mugabi were fine. The latter was causing havoc in their box at set pieces as well. The problem with them is that they're both going to cost us with absolute howlers a couple of times a season, but overall they're steady enough.

The way we play exposes our full backs. There's no protection from the midfield and we also expect both to be an attacking threat.  I don't think odonnell or Carroll are nearly as bad as being made out. The latter assisted both of our goals last week.  There's no way we're signing replacements, so get used to who we have.

I have to disagree sorry! The issue with both full backs comparatively to watching the Dundee United game is that both full backs ALLOW crosses into the box.

I would love to think Moult could be a great signing but two words of caution

    Ross McCormack!!

Two completely different personalities in my opinion and I don't think can be directly compared.

For any player moving on - good luck to them. Wish them all the best for the future and our thanks for 1-2-3-4-5 years of service dependant on who they are.

In terms of remaining games we should play our best/hungriest players.

If there's any player that GA isn't sure on , fringe players (Hastie/Dunne etc ) be good to see them being given a run out for remainder of the season.

Hastie plays for Rangers. So um no.

Not been impressed with Gallacher this season on or off the field, but if he is getting a decent move at this time in his career then fair play to him and hope he does OK.

I hope the Aberdeen contract is a longish one as I can't see Glass being in that job for long, he's my bet for first managerial casualty of next season.

Irrespective of if he has played well this season. He's by far our best defender when he is on the pitch. How many goals can you blame Gallagher for? Mugabi, Lamie, Magloire have all losts us goals that in no way Gallagher could have prevented. I think he's been alright in a crap squad.

He struggles to look good as does Campbell because of too many players that are not of standard.

As I said in a previous post people are blinkered in what they say because of the way he went about his business but how can anyone say he's not our best defender? Therefore he will be missed.

I don't know anything about Maurice Ross as a coach but because he's not one of us - he's no good? I'm sure onthefringes could cast some light.
