  1. Carswell is good at what he does, polar opposite in Vigurs really in that he isn't a great football player but runs around lots and keeps it simple.

He is not good at what he does. A Lasley/carswell midfield is horrifically bad and the cause of a lot of our problems . Whoever said Marc Fitzpatrick by another name was spot on.

I think he could have been developed into a decent midfielder but I actually think the coaching staff have not tried to adapt him into an up and down midfielder which due to his athleticism he might have stood a chance.

From what i've seen I fancy leitch much more with the signing of a proper midfielder who actuallys breaks up the play and dictates.

  2. Hindsight is awesome

Imagine we had signed Ryan Stevenson and Lee Miller when everyone was going on about it? That would have been good...(Sarcasm)

At least Stevenson is a midfielder unlike Ramsden, Reid, Law, Kerr and every other defender we have on our books that we play in this position.

A midfielder that scores a double to take his team through to the Scottish Cup....?

A midfielder that looks as if he might give a toss and not be as weak as our lot...?

I ain't saying he's great but he's a damn site better than our central midfield options.

  3. 1 - 3 - be delighted if I am wrong though.

    I'd run with

    Twardzik

    Ramsden McManus O'Brien Reid

    Ainsworth Lasley Carswell Vigurs

    Sutton Ojamma

Presuming Hammell is out - the lack of options is horrendous and despite my cries to see Thomas and Erwin - I would say not for Saturday.

Good luck to the team though and hope they prove me wrong.

  4. The initial (over-ambitious) target of raising £1.5m to act as a safety net has been undermined by the fact that we have raised over 500k but the club has lost the best part of £1million in the three years since. So trying to find a solution that provides both safe/community ownership and financial stability for the club has been a lengthy process.

I think that a point raised on many occasions is why we have lost 1million in three years. We know why as it has been explained but I do not believe we should accept this as good business practice. Ultimately it sounds as if we depend on a list of criteria (cup runs/europe/high table finishes) in preparation of our budget. Many accountants will say to base budgets on a worst case scenario. Therefore everything else is a bonus and would lead to profitability.

Also it has been indicated before we need to sell one player a season. This is where budgets come onto a football pitch and it's clear we have not primed any individual footballer as far as I can see that will allow this to happen. We cannot sell and gain any value in Reid, Ramsden, McManus, Hammell, Lasley and Sutton due to age. Ojammaa is not our player. Ainsworth is on a one year deal. So what happens on the park will not allow us to generate extra income in this way.

I notice we quoted Anne Budge regarding confidentiality agreements.

    Interesting quote today

Budge says the financial models run by clubs in the past are not sustainable.

"There is a fundamental business rule that says you shouldn't be spending more than you bring in - it's not rocket science," she added.

  5. I think the quality of our youths is at its worse level in many years. How many times you seen him Stu? All I'm saying is I would rather trust the opinions of those who see them in training every day than those who see his reports on Twitter.

I don't trust the opinions of our management and coaching team this year. Self-evident.

  6. In terms of corporate packages I am really disappointed nothing is available in the Davie cooper stand anymore. This was great for myself and my young family inclusive of one year old to avoid the shite weather, good having the bar inside with my dad and also none of that tie nonsense.

  7. Again like many others best left until today till I posted my words.

The first thing for me was when I heard the team I was disappointed in the announcement for the second week in a row of Carswell, Lawson and Lasley as a midfield trio with Angol. Lawson/Carswell pick one, we don't need two....that in itself is playing not to concede and we don't need to show Aberdeen this level of respect at home. That midfield will never work. There are too many people on this forum who will not slate Carswell because he is young or Lasley as he has been a stalwart of the club, but I thought last night both of them never got to grips with the game and Flood, who will never be my cup of tea as an individual, I would have swapped in a heartbeat last night.

Lawson too many sideways passes, and too slow. This is fine in the right system but with Lasley and Carswell give us peace.

Francis-Angol, I would love to ask Stuart McCall if he is under instruction to not give the ball away in the first half of a game. This may be part of McCall's containment plan but was the same against Kuban where he didn't try and beat a man till second half.

I thought contrary to everyone else Ainsworth was alright when he came on, and Angol was ok second half let's be honest at least they created something.

Next of all Vigurs is a quality player. McFadden is one of the best talents Scotland has produced in a long time. Yet they have been poor at the start of the season. This is down to not incorporating them into the team to utilise their talents in the best way. This is multiplied by the inability to play wing backs who provide support to these guys.

It's a mess simply because we have played circa 15 games and we don't know what we are doing.

There is no quick fix, but simply a suggestion below of how this could be done.

    Hollis/Neilson

Wing Back - (I feel a bit sorry for Ramsden who has actually done ok, but it's a system we need)

    Hutchinson

    McManus

    Wing Back (not Angol)

Def Midfielder - Lawson & Lasley

    Att Midfielder - Vigurs

    McFadden - can drift

    Anier - can drift

    Sutton

For me attacking wing backs could provide the foil, if we have 2 defensive midfielders, I dunno, but it ain't working and some big decisions need made.

I've probably contradicted myself here but it's the system that McCall has that is wrong, and he needs to fix it.

  8. Obviously in league cup ties we will as all SPL teams seem to do make some changes.

    So I'd go for

McFadden for Sutton - To see if McFadden/Anier can work

Lawson for Carswell - Game time

Neilsen for Holiis - Game time

Ainsworth for Vigurs - Game time, plus Vigurs not done much so far.

Thoughts and what changes would you guys make as we know its inevitable!

(Wouldn't be surprised to see McHugh playing tomorrow)

  9. McCourt on trial at Hibs. 40 a day habit and likes the pub as well so not much pace but could skin guys all day long. Worth a look?

If we were starting our summer transfer spree definitely, but not with the players we have signed.

  10. If speculation is anything to go by this could be next years team - what's your thoughts on this?

    NEILSON

    RAMSDEN

    MCMANUS

    HUTCHISON

    HAMMELL

    LAWSON

    VIGURS

    LASLEY

    AITCHISON

    MCFADDEN

    SUTTON

    SUBS

    HOLLIS

    KERR

    CUMMINS

    CARSWELL

    FRANCIS-ANGOL

    MCHUGH

    MOORE

  11. There is no way Aberdeen will be signing Sutton.

McInnes in his interview outlined in his interview on Saturday that he is looking at midfield width, he already has McGinn, Zola, Vernon etc.

If anyone else went in for him I would reckon it would be Dundee United.

  12. someone sent me this about faddy

    My link

I don't think this is much to do with Celtic instead to do with a paper involved in lazy journalism, who don't know our club exist.

Check out their app - Celtic, Rangers, Rangers, Celtic....

Let's keep the faith that McFadden will stay.

  13. I'd take McCourt - if we kept McFadden that would cause SPL defences a lot of panic.

The one thing I will say is that when McCourt comes on a sub against us, I worry a bit - sometimes needlessly, but just one of those guys.

No time for Harkins though best avoided,

Also Tudor Jones I am pleased we missed as well.

  14. I like it - think it is excellent,

You will always get people wanting to change slight elements to it - but on the whole no haters yet, which is a very good thing!

Also I never noticed how tired our crest looked until you posted this topic.

  15. I think he'd create more problems than he'd solve on the park. His behaviour with Scotland, undermining of Le Guen, loathsome behaviour. I take my young son to the football. Wouldn't want him idolising someone like that...

True that, I take your point, forgot about the Scotland thing.

Maybe, and you can only hope, that he has matured a bit now.

  16. Totally disagree with the opinions on kris boyd, although don't doubt I wont be popular in saying this.

One of the top scorers ever in Spl

Higdon was regarded as lazy, similar to Boyd but with the correct supply both know where the goals are.

The only thing is hopefully we will have the supply next season that Higdon benefited from.

I remember him at Ibrox scoring a couple of real good goals against us - he definitely has the quality from distance as well.

Why would you give up your season ticket for a guy with a proven track record?

If it's the Rangers thing - then em Bob Malcolm played for us.

  17. Rangers

    Celtic

    Hearts

    St Mirren

    Dundee United

    Aberdeen

    Motherwell

    Hibs

    Dunfermline

    Inverness

    Kilmarnock

    St Johnstone

Now everybody will think I am mental putting St Mirren up there, but Carey, Thomson, Teale etc are all high quality SPL players imho.

One thing is for sure I am not posting on Pie and Bovril, place would go crazy!!!

  18. So what if Craig Brown knows things we don't.

I bet everybody here knows of at least one thing that happens in their work that shouldn't.

The fact that this happens in a Football club doesn't matter a jot ,unless illegal, but even at that how many health and safety breaches happen at most works!

Bet he is glad he wasn't the Rangers manager - offshore payment to the players, sounds like just the tip of a whole lot of financial misdemeanours
