  1. Strange that we never got a clear explanation about why he didn't sign a new contract (as far as I'm aware). I've no doubt it was for valid personal / footballing reasons so I'm not being critical of the decision at all, it's just that anything that I've read from Tanner has been fairly vague.
  2. For a wee breezeblock stadium there's usually a decent atmosphere with a decent St Mirren turnout. We tend to take quite a few through, so I imagine we'll come close to selling out our allocation. Could've had an easier draw, but at least this ones kinda exciting.
  3. I too couldn't understand why Hartley kept going for the world-cuppy pass last night. Shouldn't be too difficult to manage his strengths and weaknesses. As Stephen Robinson often says, (paraphrasing here) - find what you're good at and do it well. Hartley just needs to be the guy who wins the ball and gets it to the nearest player in claret and amber so that they can then do the fancy stuff. Unlike Gallagher who will stroll past 3 players in his own 6 yard box, if Hartley is under pressure, his team mates needs to make themselves available. It seems like an easy fix.

    2019-20 Rebuild

Would be good to see how he'd fare against Championship opposition.....
  5. The 7:20 kick off on a Saturday night probably helped - our support were on great form last night. Hopefully that came through on the TV. Really good atmosphere despite there only being about 14 home fans. What a massive disappointment of a home crowd from a club Dundees size.
  6. To be fair to Robinson, he's generally aware when mistakes have been made and takes measures to stop it happening again. The very reason we played a game in Tenerife and vs Hibs is to avoid a repeat of last seasons exit to Ross County. No excuses for a poor performance tonight.
  7. Id disagree with that. He's said he was getting coached to play centrally at Celtic, whereas at Motherwell he was out wide which he felt was his strongest position. There's also a massive psychological difference between being part of each club. The standard of player he was competing against to get game time at Celtic was obviously miles from at Motherwell. If you've already got shakey confidence that extreme competitive environment isn't ideal. Not saying he would have been a success for us, but it's two totally different environments for a young player so I guess we'll never know.
  8. In case anyone missed it, there's now an official MFC podcast. No idea how often it will be out, but the first one is almost an hour with Stephen Robinson. Mobile: http://bit.ly/longerlisten Laptop: http://bit.ly/33uEici
  9. Pffft. You can prove anything with facts.
  10. Incredible he's only 21. Can only hope he continues his development as he's got the capacity to go much further in the game. I've seen a different side to him this year which I didn't expect - some of his forward thinking play and finesse can be exceptional considering he was forever being lauded as the tough tackling midfielder. I also get the impression he's generally an excellent player to have in the squad due to his work ethic. An inspiration for many younger players at MFC.

  12. Do you mean where did I read it? It's the buyout clause kicking about in a few articles about his links to the NI job.
  13. £125k compensation for what is undoubtedly one of our most valuable assets. It's fuck all really isn't it? I've never really understood why managerial changes don't involve the same finances as players. If anyone wants to shed some light, go for it.
  14. I see. So when we're next looking for a manager you'll be hoping we land John Hughes, Danny Lennon, Jim McIntyre or Kenny Shiels. Got it.
  15. https://www.viprow.net/rangers-vs-motherwell-1-online-stream Decent stream there.
  16. We all want meaningful games, and it's been a few years since we've had them at the right end of the table. Really looking forward to tomorrow and hoping the international break will mean a decent home and away crowd. I think we're in for a solid season, but a win tomorrow would be a real marker on where we are as a football team. Think it'll be a tight game with us at the very least avoiding defeat. 1-1 or 2-1.
  17. That felt like The Office (UK) vs The Office (US)
