    League Cup 2016/17

    How's the seeding calculated?
  2. Started watching it but then realised I'd rather just lob my money into something I don't fully understand. It feels right because it's to do with Motherwell.

    2016/17 Ins & Outs

Do they still do pay as you play deals? Could be what Faddy is doing. I.e, costing us FA but good to have around, and keeps alive his dream of returning to first team football.
  4. I won't let today's result diminish what has been a great turnaround from the team, however I do hope the sight of them shipping 7 goals getting played all over the world is a wake up call that these games still matter to the fans.

    Bob Mc Hugh

I think the problem is that when he was given a start he was posted missing, making every start a gamble. There were always players similarly on the fringes who were less of a risk than him. McHugh was banging in screamers (wahay etc) every other week for 20's, and will clearly be a big player at a certain level. My fear is he'll come up with Falkirk and find the top flight just a step too far again. I'd love to be proved wrong. I heard he was absolutely dedicated on the training ground and always one of the physically strongest at the club.

    Bob Mc Hugh

Always worked hard for us so I'm glad he's coming onto a game now but no. Aside from the odd goal he was ineffective. He had to go for his own sake.

    2016/17 Ins & Outs

We never really gave McHugh his chance did we?
  8. I'd be interested to see if that's true. My basic understanding of the SPFL rulebook is that in normal circumstances the club needs to have taken all reasonably practical measures to control the crowd and ensure order. For example, rightly or wrongly Rangers and Celtic have been cleared in the past for sectarian singing because they have taken all reasonable measures to control the crowd. The endless "stay off the pitch" propaganda and a heavy security presence should have been seen as reasonable. If someone runs on the pitch after that, the club I'm sure would ask "what more could we do? Literally fence them in?". Well, they chose to do that. In my view, that's an unreasonable measure to take.
  9. In spells, that's as comfortable as we've looked in a long time in terms of passing and movement. It was a joy to watch, however we just lacked that killer final ball. Also, it was great to see the team looking clearly fired up for what is effectively a fight for 3 league placings. I thought every player was excellent. Cadden really impressed - for such a young guy he really bullied their midfield at times and he's turning into a real physical presence. Samson did well in his first competitive game since season 82/83. McDonald, Moult and Johnson continue to develop into a frightening front three and individually they all played their part however at times weren't quite on the same wavelength. Onto Ainsworth, who as Ya Bezzer says just hasn't looked right this season. Despite that, he yet again proved to be effective by scoring the winning goal. Stripping it back to basics, in terms of influence / minutes on the pitch I reckon Ainsworth could still be one of our most effective players. Would be interesting to see the stats on assists / goals and game time on him.
  10. Hopefully we invest top 6 prize money in a set of walkie talkies.
  11. I'll agree about the inept, but disagree that we have regressed because of the players. Poor management has been the reason we've been shite, not the players. Lasley and Hammell in particular have been at the core of some of the most succesful teams in the clubs history, and it's no coincidence that we're now turning the corner with a decent manager in place and both of them in the team. I do think they're not the quite the players that took us to 3rd, 2nd and 2nd and we need to have one eye on alternatives over the next few seasons but I think they still have plenty to offer just now.

    Top Six The Facts

That would still see us in top 6. Partick need the win.
  13. Mcghee stated that the players will be training all week on the assumption that we'll be needing points from the game. I'm hoping his prediction that we'll see the benefits of the international break this week ring true. Fuck it. I'm glad we're going into this game needing something. Its why I go.
  14. The cameras are on and with Aberdeens 'title challenge', interest in the league is probably up so this is the type of game that players who aspire to bigger things need to make the most of. I know they give 100% regardless, but im hoping for some big performances from the likes of marv and moult.
  15. That's working for me. They had problems with it playing on mobiles last night, dont know if the old videos been removed.
  16. After the monumental effort that's taken us from 11th to 4th in 2 months, I'd be surprised if McGhee was willing to take risks with youngsters and end the campaign with a whimper in 6th place. I think we will see a few untested come in here and there from the 20s at comfortable points in games (comfortably winning or comfortably gubbed), but I think he'll still be aiming for a very strong finish to the season.

An unlikely comment for a sports forum.

Damn. I just worked out we're mathematically (or arithmetically for the pedants) safe from the play-offs now. But I'm wrong.
  19. Ainsworth with a goal and assist going by the commentary?
  20. They've now done their homework:- Previews and team news as Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic host Hearts while in-form Motherwell travel to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The board isn't exactly short on skill or experience by the looks of it.
  22. Hate is a stretch. Can't imagine many will see Law on the teamsheet and think "oh fuck".
