  1. A sore one right enough... but Had we been losing 1-0 and equalised at the death to make it 1-1 then we would have been delirious, yet the score would still be 1-1. Much better than 0-0. Only downer is a draw would have taken us through next week at 1-0. Still we are at home and hopefully the fans can COME OUT in godd number to cheer the boys on.
  2. Got my long sleeved away top this morning. It looks good, plain and simple...but dissapointed with ....wait for it.......the quality. All shirts are 100% polyester but some are smoother and silkier than others. Our last Bukta home top was like pure silk and even last years Canterbury efforts were quite good. The quality of this new top is not so smooooth, seems like fairly cheap material if you ask me. You go to JJB and look at Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal tops and they all seem good quality if expensive tops. Yes they may be ordering in the 10's of 000's, but the price is still the same to buy. Do the shop not get to see a sample of the material before production? I will still be wearing it all the same. But for £50 (inc P&P) I expected better material.
  3. Oh my god. The hooligans have arrived...........
  4. Read the official Well site and you will see the tops are available to buy minus sponsor from Thursday.
  5. I suspect it has more to do with the fact this guy is probably in his teens and has not endured 30+ years of dismal let downs. That said it is refreshing and I for one hope your enthusiasm and confidence is not misplaced!
  6. Just ordered the away top. Not sure re lack of sponsor. My first thoughts are that it would be great to have a MFC top without one. Then again if it is to be an innovative deal like Sports Relief, then it may well be worth having on the top. It seems as if it is a done deal........based on gossip on here. Why then are the club not making an official announcement, unless there is a hitch. It does prove one thing though. There is NO such thing as a secret down MFC way. There is always a leak or two.....wonder when the media will come sniffing?????
  7. That must place you in the minority. I have cried many times watching Motherwell. Sometimes with pride - other times when Stevie woods came out for a cross
  8. This is what is disappointing me the most. I understand the need to take our time to ensure any money we spend is spent wisely. That + many players are holding off to see what other options appear on their radar. but............ We do seem to be far behind a number of other SPL teams when it comes to adding to the squad. We may get through this tie comfortably and then again we may well struggle and lose. Which then begs the Q of whether if we had 2-3 replacements for Lukas and O'Brien would that have made a real difference. I hope we are not having that debate.... I expect the usual SPL is our bread and butter responses. But a tie against the likes of Liverpool or Man City could easily bring in £500k+, which is the equivalent to 2-3 old firm games! or 15-20%+ of our annual t/o. A lot is riding on these 2 games v Aalesund. Of course we could get Metalist Kharkiv of the Ukraine........
  9. Two words or rather one name suggests that will not happen - CRAIG BROWN. That + we looked rather ordinary against the Icelandic team. I hope I am proved wrong, but I suspect the gameplan will be to keep it tight and hoepfully get a goal on the counter attack. I think we will need an away goal to get through this tie. Still the target for us was always the play off round and the hope we get a glamour tie and some real income. If it takes a couple of dour games to do it - I would take that right now.

I am not sure they are mjw. Sure ticket prices have remained fairly high and at some clubs have increased. But most clubs have kept season ticket prices static for the past 2-3 seasons. In addition there are probably many people who HAVE been made redundant at football clubs as crowds and revenue drop. This includes professional footballers. Those at the top are ok, but there is no longer a reserve league for example and more pros are not finding a team and looking to leave the game as they no other option. So to say football clubs are immune is not IMHO strictly true.

Crikey - that is a positive post - 5-1 aggregate score Aalesund will be much better than Breidlablik and will not be so wasteful in front of goal with similar chances. We are the seeded side and are possibly marginal favourites, but I do not see this tie being decided by any more than the odd goal or 2. How will we take to the artificial surface and like the Icelanders Aalesund are a good way into their season. If we can get an away goal and a narrow loss or draw I would hope we can use home advantage in the second leg to go through. Other than that I know little about Aalesund to make claims like pbbruce. I would take the Jambos and other SPL fans comments with a pinch of salt. Easiest thing in the world to make a comment like they are p1sh - should be an easy win for Motherwell. I very much doubt that.

Either that or you could find a secluded spot behind the electronic scoreboard Anyone who supports Motherwell because they got Willie Pettigrew as a panini sticker as a kid is ok by me

I am sure there is a lot of awareness from within the club at the stark financial reality and position many fans find themselves in. I am also sure there would be a lot of sympathy too for fans who once could afford a season ticket but cannot now because they have to prioritise where they spend their money. BUT Motherwell is a business and if we want to play football in the SPL they have to pay the going rate in salaries and related expenses. The majority (myself included) are clamouring for players to be added to the squad, yet the money is not really there and it would be a lot worse if they say halved admission prices. Maybe they could introduce a scheme for recently unemployed - a discount of sorts. Maybe there already is one. In fact they have last season offered discounts for certain games and a reasonable price for the recent Euro games. Here is the rub. If I was unemployed from next week - do you think I would get a sandwich at Greggs for any less, or the petrol to fill my car or the Sunday newspaper. People losing there jobs is a tough thing to go through... but Motherwell cannot respond by introducing wholesale reductions in ticket costs. It is business and a fact of life sadly.
  14. What a cracking trip. A barrel of laughs and a few beers along the way. Special thanks to Iceland Express who were 90 mins delayed in both directions Less drinking time b4 the game and a heart attack running between terminals at Gatwick to ONLY just get on the flight back to Edinburgh. Some heading back to Glasgow on easyjet were not so lucky............ As for the football - can't argue with an away win. I thought the defence were for the most part solid. Like most I worry about the lack of creativity from midfield. Breidablik were a competent team, but most fans their agreed that we will NOT get through the next round if we turn in another 2 similar performances against Aalesund. Concerning we have not added even 1 outfield player to the squad/1st team before the next round exc Angelis. Special mention to the young ladies of Reykjavik It was like a Miss World contest at 12 midnight after the game. Shame I am both married and at least twice their age.....still does not hurt to look....
  15. I am sorry that I cannot travel to Aalesund (should we get through 2moro) as it looks like a cracking place, very picturesque. Going to Reykjavik and cannot afford the time off work so close together. So my message to Aalesund fans is that you are NOT allowed to beat us (if we get through.....) as I will be able to make it the glamour play off round..
  16. DITTO Gaags post. One does wonder however how bad a state the club would be in if we did not finish 5th and qualify for Europe. It appears as if money is very tight, yet we must have taken in at least an extra few hundred 000 over those like Killie near the foot of the table.
  17. I guess we will have this argument for months and possibly years to come....but to say JOB was a fraud is baffling in the extreme. I am one of those saddos that record highlights of the games we win and download onto my Ipod touch. When I am travelling and away from home it is always good to get my fix of claret and amber. Whilst doing so it occurred to me watching last years highlights, is how many times JOB had a major contribution in the build up of our goals. Unless we get a decent replacement - if you think he is not going to be missed - you are sadly deluded. My humble opinion of course....
  18. We will try our best - but I have a wee suspicion it will be down to the players. They will not lack vocal support that is for sure. Does anyone know how far the football ground is from central Reykjavik? How long it would take and best method of transport? Where is Bliki when you need him?
  19. Maybe so in reference to your point re signings, but Gannon was taking us down, down, down all the way to funkytown b4 Paw Broon came in. So far he has replaced Ruddy with Randolph. It looks on the face of it a decent replacement, although too early to say for definite. What worries me is that he is quoted as saying we only have wages for 1 striker Yet we are missing 3-4 players. My suspicion is that the wages have been eaten up by the gang of players that signed new deals such as Hately and Saunders etc. We just got to hoep we get through to the play off round and get Liverpool or Man City. Otherwise we will most definitely have a somewhat weaker squad than last season.
  20. Just seen it reported on toffeeweb. I think he may be on loan to Coventry? Probably could afford to pay more of his wages than we could. Bloody shame if you ask me. Maybe if we could get through a couple of rounds in Europe we would have the funds..... Jutkiewicz set for Coventry spell The Daily Mail report that Lucas Jutkiewicz has joined Coventry City on loan after failing to secure a permanent move to Motherwell where he spent last season. 20 Jul | Source: Daily Mail?
  21. I saw that. Light rain on Thursday. But light rain for nearly 2 hours......... Maybe they will issue us with Pac A Macs.
  22. Crikey - I thought this was a football forum. I have wondered into a minefield.... As for TF - glad to see you have an affection and affinity for all things Motherwell, but you are heading down the wrong path. The reason we had 10 in Albania in no particular order - THE CLUB TOLD US NOT TO TRAVEL - IT WAS ONLY ONE WEEK AFTER 2000 TRAVELLED TO WALES - The equivalent of 35,000 Man U fans if you take 50% of your home support - WE ARE IN A PICKLE ECONOMY WISE I reckon we will take 2-300 to Iceland inc my goodself. Probably comparable with the 30 or so fans that Breidablik took to Scotland.
  23. Utter rubbish............it is quite clear to me that you would have 6000 tickets left if you were playing Man Utd. Whereas the interest is greater as the mighty Motherwell may be coming to town
  24. What I was trying to do with the above post was to state that in fact Breidablik only need to technically score 1 goal. 1-0 AET and we are on to penalties..... That said I think we will score and go through, but I also think they will get a goal. I am going for a 2-1 win or 2-2 draw up in Iceland.
