  1. I don't think my fellow passengers would allow me to get away with that................as for joining the mile high club....not enough time on a domestic flight Mind you I do get a semi every time it is a clear day and I get to see the hallowed turf/bare patch. Pisses me off when the plane banks left early......easily pleased really
  2. Glad to see us tie up the best of our young talent. That said I like most would be somewhat underwhelmed unless we can either keep or replace Ruddy, Lukas, Coke + Hately with like for like replacements as difficult as that may be. We can expect the younger ones to be another year wiser and experienced and we have Hutchison and Page - so are reasonable well served in defence. Coke I think will be a NO NO. Lukas and Ruddy will depend on interest from potential buyers or they may well end back up here on loan - here's hoping. Hately - as stated previously would have been a must on 1st half season, a maybe on 2nd half and I don't care based on the last few games when he WAS mince. I would not bow to his supposed superior demands. On his day he is a worthwhile addition, but his defending and covering was woeful latterly especially at Ibrox.
  3. I travelled to the last away game v Mypa. Would rather go elsewhere if at all possible. All in the lap of the gods really. Would like to take in at least 1, maybe two trips this year, much like Llanelli and Bucharest last year. If I remember rightly we had a 1 in 5 chance of getting Llanelli last year or it was all pretty much dirka dirka stans. We may not be so lucky this year Ideally Bangor, an Oirish team or Iceland/Nordic, otherwise it will be largely boycotted. Then the same again for the 3rd qualifying round. Chances are we will be landed with 1 if not 2 trips to the back of beyond if we are unlucky...
  4. Not half as much as the ones that will be going to Turin to watch Juve later this year Either that or gettin papped out by dirka dirka stan in round 2. That the thing with Motherwell - you never know......
  5. Paw Broon also stated that he knew other SPL clubs were interested in at least one of the players. From the Fixozy list I would assume that would include the following: Kevin Kyle Andy Dorman Jack Ross (was rumoured we offered him a contract) Colin Samuel James Wesolowski Pedro Moutinho The rest we would not want or would be out our reach. As it is Kyle and Dorman will probably have suitors such as Hearts that could afford greater wages........
  6. Nothing on this topic for a wee while.......... Will we get a sponsor in time for the production of the new tops. If not would we consider doing a Barcelona and putting a charity on the tops rather than leaving blank? Who is dealing with this at the club - one would assume Leanne, although is she no away on holiday? It cannot be easy to get sponsorhsip in this day and age, especially where we are looking at up to £100k per annum. Still the fact we are in Europe should hopefully help seal a deal with a global giant Just a shame that Tennants have jumped on the Old Firm bandwagon as usual. Not a lot of thought on that. They could have sponsored the other 10 SPL teams for probably the same amount they are pouring into there coffers.........
  7. I am really disapointed with your response. Of course my post was to be taken with the utmost respect and treated as very serious in both it's intent and nature......... Why I even hooked the great Flowdo
  8. Sorry to be a bore - but back on topic......... I fly a lot (EDI-LHR) and on a good day and on the left hand side of the plane (window seat) get a good view of the Citadel that is Fir Park. Bearing in mind I am probably about 25-30,000 feet in the air when we pass over the ground. Even I thought I could see what I thought was a large shadow over the centre of the pitch - halfway line, which I then took to be a large brown area and that would suggest to me that the grass is NOT growing as evely in all areas if at all. Anyone seen it up close???? Back to the shiteberry methinks.............
  9. I hope you are right. But I would be interested to see what figure you believe any likely fee would be. I think some might believe around £1m, others £750k. It all depends on how many clubs are interested. If it is only the one - then we are fecked and will be lucky to see £500k. Either way my post was not a slight on Reynolds. Been a good player for us and I hope he gets a good move and kicks on from there.
  10. IMHO Coke started well - faded away in the middle - then came on strong again. Would be very happy if he stayedbut I DO believe he will be offski with many offers on the table. Hately started of well and then gradually faded away - to the point that the last few performances were quite poor. Would not be too concerned if he moved on - though I doubt it as he will not have as many sniffing about as Coke. Reynolds is an interesting one. I think many thought (including himself) that there would be a Q of clubs lining up and that we would make some decent money. I think shipping 14 golas in the last 3 games - even if he only played in two of them - might have lowered both the interest and the likely transfer fee.
  11. I think we will be incredibly lucky to match that deal this time around. Sponsorship money is increasingly hard to come by in these austere times. The Old firm are lucky that Tennants want to sponsor Football - mainly due I believe to the Irish/Celtic connection - Tennants now owned by same firm that sell Magners Cider. The fact we are back in Europe may help add a wee premium, certainly gives us a slightly better bargaining stance.
  12. No great love for Utd, but for me it is ALL about Motherwell. If we needed an Old Firm win today to help us get into Europe then I would have been backing them. Ross County winning the cup would have been a fairytale, but why should I support them over Utd when we would have lost out on another place in Europe. 3 years in a row is excellent and I am hoping for another 1-2 trips abroad to follow the boys in claret and amber. As for whether we make money form these ventures. I know not the exact figures but this season saw a combined home support of approx 14,000, which would have brought in gate money of circa £150,000 + . I also believe we made 90,000 Euros for each round we participated in courtesy of UEFA. So all in all I would be surprised if we made less than £250k NET from this years exploits, which is not to be laughed at in this current climate and could account for 3 decent players annual wages. I am with Finlay on this one - the greater good of Motherwell FC is ALL that matters. YA BEZZER beat me to it
  13. Sporting Fingal - WHO THEY?? Then Juventus Then Man City
  14. I just wish we had won the fair play league - which we would have done if Hearts had not been in the SPL............ Probably will be an anti climax especially if we pull a club from Dirka Dirkastan..... Anyhoo don't see it being an issue as I really believe that Ross Co have a 50-50 chance of winning the Cup on Saturday. Having already knocked out Celtic and Hibs, DDee Utd will hold absolutely NO fears for them...
  15. I also subscribe to the theory that the SPL had a bigger hand to play by giving us 20 away games inc 3 at Parkhead of all places.... It does still stick in the craw that Utd fielded a weaker team. It may be there prerogative but it certainly did not help us 1 iota. I hope it pays dividends this weekend, otherwise I will be on the Arabs message boards calling them what for.... Maybe next year we can repay the compliment and field an under 17's team if they are battling to get into Europe and we are playing one of their rivals.
  16. I agree that it was within their rights to field a weakened team. But it is also within our rights to bitch about it. I was fairly certain that a point would be enough at Ibrox on the basis that DDee Utd would not lose at home to Hibs. The fact they did was almost certainly down to the fact that they played a B team today. I hope I am wrong but I have a strange feeling they may be taking the cup for granted on Saturday with Houston talking about how they may get back to tannadice next Staurday with a full house after the game. Knowing our luck it would not surprise me if Ross Co win next week by the odd goal. Let's be honest and say that were the shoe on the other foot, their fans would be having a go at Motherwell for doing the same thing.
  17. It was reported somewhere that Jennings had signed a 1 year extension. I think it may have been in the evening times? That would be braw. Coke kind of went off form mid season - but the odd mishap apart has been fairly decent and would like him to stay. That said I get the feeling he will get better offers down south and will probably be offski. Ask me 2 months ago and I would have loved to have kept hately, but he of all has been fiarly poor of late and would not be overly upset if he left. I suspect we will be looking to replace 6-7 players and the success or otherwise will be pivotal to our season next year. Wahtever you say about Gannon he did us a turn with Coke, Ruddy, Lukas and Jennings. I suspect Paw Broon will be hoping to use his contacts to bring a few better players (than we could either afford or attract) on loan. Hopefully clubs will look at Ruddy and Lukas and realise if they want to offload their surplus players give them better exposure at Motherwell.
  18. 1st one of the year.........why oh why could i not have taken it when we lost 1-0 to Falkirk or 3-2 to DDee Utd . Still all in all I am delighted for those who were there and those who may come back having taken advantage of the reduced prices.
  19. Great game...great club.....unbelievable On holibags right now and missing the ONLY home game of the season. I should have put a £ on 6-6. Delighted for the team but gutted that I missed such an epic game. As for woman.....my wife is in the huff because I said I was p1ssed off not to be there tonight - "what would you rather not be here with me on holiday".............you couldn't make it up. Still luv her - but honestly - she should know by now F#ckin love this club......off 4 more whisky
  20. Humphrey should come on if we are chasing the game. I would almost be tempted to put Hutchison back in central defence and move Reynolds to midfield, depending on who is fit or not. Forbes is a no no for me. Capable of cracking goals such as v St J but also very capable of disappearing in games and we cannot afford 1 passenger this evening. I would go for Fat Tony's team above, unless Coke is not fit, otherwise I would make the change as suggested in my post above.
  21. Never a truer post................ This is must win for Well + must win for Hibs. Therefore I suspect it will end up a 1-1 draw. Hope I am wrong, but knowing Motherwell as i do I suspect we will go to Ibrox needing something. It is just the way we do things. The Hearts result is also crucial. Worst case is we lose and they win. I do however believe we will not finish lower than 5th. Strange that DDee UTd are playing 3 of our biggest games of the season depending on results v Hearts, Hibs and then possibly Ross Co - depending on where we finish. Sadly I am on a midweek break, but my thoughts will be at Fir Park silently roaring the boys on. Come on Well. Get stuck in............
  22. If it is any consolation I wont be going because I booked a break Mon through Friday to ensure I did not miss a game Missed out on the Aberdeen game a couple of seasons ago due to a business trip. Bottom line is I feel more confident of getting a result because I am not there. So keep the faith.....
  23. Made a last minute decision to go to the game today. Simply because I am missing out on Wednesday and did not want NOT to see the boys again b4 the end of the season. 4-0 definitely flattered Celtic although in saying that, they hardly played that well and still beat us 4 zip. I actually thought the defence played quite well up until the late capitulation. Ruddy looked culpable for the 1st and posters on here are right in that Fraser would have been bollocked had it been him in goals. Forbes and Murphy were largely anonymous and as much as I had hoped Forbes would be the next best thing - that ship has well and truly sailed......he is as slow as running through treacle. Still every cloud has a silver lining and all that. On the way back into Glasgow on the bus I saw a film crew filming the follow up to the movie the Night of the Living Dead. Then I realised it was just hoardes of Celtic fans getting on the bus. Honest to god I have never ever seen such a bunch of UGLY trolls. For a while I felt sorry for Ethopia until I went along the Gallowgate...they may have a decent football team, but the state of the place............. Be thankful for what you have got and 4 being a good looking Well fan
  24. There seems to be a fairly even split between those who rate him and those that think he promises more than he delivers. Me - I think he is a decent player who we will miss. Admittedly ther have been times where he has flattered to deceive, but there also have been times where he has been the sole creative force and he has won us quite a few points this season. I would rather he stayed, but lets be honest, the only reason he is going to Barnsley is for the Wonga. Nothing against Barnsley, sure they get bigger crowds - who doesn't, but he will disappear off the radar fairly quickly - well at least up here where it matters - to me . That said I wish him well and hope he puts in a couple of decent performances b4 he goes.
  25. Very much so. Us Well fans are no stupid - well a few exceptions as always We know we are a stepping stone for any half decent player. All we ask is that players, that more often than not we have picked up from the scrapheap or essentially allowed their careers to kick on - McCormack, Porter, Jim O B etc show us fans a little respect. Lukas is doing just that - chances are he will be away as Everton paid nearly £1m for him and will want to recoup some of that money. A few goals before you go big man
