  1. Falkirk took a deserved beating today and we won comfortably yesterday. All the hallmarks of a straightforward away win If only life was so simple. One thing is for sure - Falkirk WILL not play as bad as that again. Teams generally don't play that badly against us. Still - I will be bold and go for a 2-0 or 2-1 away win.
  2. Actually I could not remember who it was - just remember reading it somewhere. Fact is I have no beef with anyone who wants to save a few shillings at this time of year if transport is involved etc. But if you are a season ticket holder and live in Motherwell then yeah I don't see an excuse not to along and support the team. Living in Edinburgh the urge should be greater for me to stay at home - but I would never miss a home game, unless I am on holiday/at a wedding/ funeral etc. I am not starting this I am a better fan rubbish - I am not and that is not my point. I just feel if me + my chums can come through from Edi every other weekend then so should those who are a little more local I suspect 99% will anyway - but Fatcalf's point is valid. We take the money so can have little complaint. I guess this weekend is slightly different as ESPN is free for all. That will shave at least 750-1000 of the gate. 3000-3500 is my guess.
  3. We will win on Saturday 2-1 or 3-2. It would be refreshing to see a decent gate for the 1st home game in ages BUT with free ESPN I suspect we will be extremely lucky to see 3500. I also predict a very low St Mirren crowd 2-300 at most. Disappointing to see season ticket holders talking about watching the game in the house. This is a critical time in the season for us. We have winnable league games coming up and a wee run now would put us in a strong position for the top 6. Get behind the team......
  4. I think you will find that Mouatouakil is back at Charlton so would be kinda tough for Paw Broon to pick. He will pick who he thinks will be the best team. That may include the youngsters some of the time it may not. But unlike Gannon who seemed to discard some senior players - perhaps not entirely on merit or otherwise. I think Jennings has done ok in the games he has played. I would love to see Hutchison get a run of games but something is not quite right. He is picking up too many niggling injuries for one so young. He starts one game and is then out for 5 or 6. I think he will be an excellent player - just hope he can get a run. Murphy is an enigma - undoubted talent - but too lightweight and easily bossed around. Probably one of these players that is destined to be great 1 game and generally crap the next. Makes it hard under those circumstances for a Manager to choose him consistently in the 1st team.
  5. BINGO and there we have it. Probably as succinct and accurate a summary as is possible.
  6. I think that may well be bollox - just a hunch mind............ But let us assume that they are. Maybe what we should do is ask them who they would like to appoint as Manager. Or we could just bend over......... Perhaps it is time they realised that they are paid by Motherwell FC and should get on with the job of giving 100% for MFC. As I said though I suspect it is bollox and everything is now rosy in the garden
  7. In fact at this rate they will probably go through on Penalties. When we get knocked out of the cup, one of the bigot brothers usually follow straight away - just to make matters worse
  8. Where have I heard that b4 when playing ICT. Takes me back to the cup game when Barry Wilson scored a screamer after about 10 mins and we spent the next 80 running into a brick wall. MFC are an enigma indeed - as seen on Saturday second half we can play like world beaters, but all too often we are easily beaten. We have never had a rock solid defence and likely never will.
  9. Of course it is - we are now a shoe in for 5th place - had we stayed in the cup we would probably have been relegated I am sure the truth lies somewhere in-between.
  10. AGREED. I love the cup but the omens were not good. ICT away on a Monday night after 2 postponements. Of course they would be fresher than us. Just heard from a mate on the road back down. We had approx 150-200 fans - lucky if there were more than 1500 at the match - no atmosphere - sounds like it was a training match. You know our players are used to a red hot atmosphere We would likely have gone to Killie with a big crowd and got papped out anyhoo - this way we have saved £30. OK I am clutching at straws but the league is our bread and butter. We are still in the mix for the top 6 and if two of the top 4 get to the final then 5th will get a place in Europe. We live in hope We now need to kick St Mirren in the goolies - they are LONG overdue a defeat at our hands.
  11. That is the Motherwell way. Most teams only need 1 or 2 shots to score whilst we can have 10 and not get a sniff
  12. Fair point Yir Elder, but you would also hope that we were match sharp. Still who amongst us saw this draw and thought we were in for anything other than a tough time. Call it a feeling but I also believe we would have done better on a Saturday than a Monday night all the way up at to ICT. Sky also said that spanner Imrie was lying flat on the ground with a serious looking injury when the ball broke to him and up he popped took the ball - ran on a scored. Hope your next cr#p is a hedgehog!!!
  13. Nah - you sticking your neck out would involve you actually saying something remotely positive. Something along the lines of at least it was 2 minutes b4 half time and not 2 minutes before the end of the match. That said we do STRUGGLE big time when we go behind to clugger teams who will now sit back and defend in numbers. I'll go for a draw and a replay at Fir Park.
  14. A great result yesterday on the back of a decent performance at Tynecastle. It is plain to see already that the shackles are off the players since Gannon has gone. Brown is the polar opposite from Gannon in terms of man management and that is already starting to show. I am sure both Archie and Craig would love a swansong at this stage in their career - so will put there all into the job. I would be surprised if they were not given the job till the summer. That was probably always going to happen - but not until Boyle was back from his hols. I think that is the sensible option right now. Would suit both parties and if all goes well then towards the end of the season they can go for another year - however if the wheels come off then both parties can part ways amicably and with no contracts to terminate etc.
  15. Ya BEEZER. Forgot what it was like to win a game. It FEELS GOOD................. Good to see O'Brien deliver a couple of goals - he is our most creative player and it always puzzles me why therer are soo many that just don't rate him. LARGE WHISKY TONITE
  16. The guy is only a youngster and IMHO has the making of a major star - that said it is rather worrying that at his age he has had these niggling injuries. I hope it is not a Ledley King scenario. His absence has been felt more keenly than Paul Slane.

    Game Off

I may have missed it - but do we have a re-arranged date for the home game v Accies????
  18. How VERY true. As recently as St Midden in the CIS. Never fail to disappoint! I then will predict we will beat ICT and take 2000 fans to Falkirk or Killie and then normal business will be resumed Think Positively - 1/4s here we come.......
  19. Ditto that............ We have over the years cocked up so many home ties..i guess it does not much matter that we are away. If anything Falkirk and Killie would be slight favourites to win given they are at home. That said we have a difficult enough draw against ICT next week. I think this game will be tougher than had we played the game yesterday - as there will be a fraction of the Well support to cheer on the lads.
  20. What did I say.......................When are we ever going to get a home draw!!!! St Mirren and Hibs with 2 back to back home ties and Hibs with another gimme....
  21. Don't be silly - M'Well don't get home draws.
  22. Disappointing as i cannot now make the replay the following Tuesday. Out of the 6 of us going 4 cannot make the replay for sure. I would imagine the Motherwell crowd will have gone from >1000 to <500 next week. Total crowd of 5000+ down to 2-3000........... Bloody weather
  23. Who the f#ck is Jim Gannon was a new one There was also a decent tuneful ditty re Archie Knox to the tune of the Bond Movie theme. Just seen on the BBC website that we had more possession than hearts and more shots on goal. Nae luck when you need it. Now you know why they are called the Jam(bo)my gits. Funniest thing i saw of the night was a Hearts fan waving a £10 note at the away support at the final whistle. I wonder if he knows what the Hearts bank balance is these days
