  1. Hook, line and sinker..just won £10 with first bite!!
  2. Perhaps thats why Melly let Coutts go, so he can try and resurrect his own career!!
  3. As above but McAuliffe was not there.
  4. All great hopes for the future. If everyone gives them time to develop and not put early pressure on them then they can do well for the Club. McHugh is a fantastic forward who leads the line well and can hold up the ball for support. Meechan is strong in the midfield and has scored some great long range goals. Slane and Lawlesss. I am just glad I am not a defender having to face them. They have ran a few ragged this Season. Important thing is that pressure is not put on them and they given the occasional appearance in the first team until they can handle the pressure.
  5. Good luck to them both. Have seen the majority of 19's games this Season and they are both good players. Both wear their hearts on their sleeves. Will be monitoring their progress with interest
  6. Thats not his gripe. Its about not being told about his future at the earlier stage when he asked about it. He did not wish to reach this stage of Season without a Club. The Manager wanted an experienced keeper, thats his choice and he has to decide in this financial cliimate how he selects his Squad. if he had not asked about hios future, fair enough, but he did. Just an area that needs looked at in future years thats all.
  7. Coutts would have died for the shirt, that is how much he would have loved to have stayed at the 'well. He has appreciated the support he has had from the fans on here and disappointed he cannot be a part of their team in the future.
  8. Your right he has had a great season and that is his reward..All he asked for was honesty when he frequently asked about his future in January and then in March. There was no dummy out of the pram, he only wanted to be told so clubs could come and watch him. That is the sour taste. Well and truly shafted and unemployed at the worst possible time. Calum Hendrie and Nikki Gallagher also shown the door.
  9. MMG speaks with forked tongue and no longer trust him. He told Coutts he was being released because he wanted an experienced goalkeeper despite Coutts asking about his future in January and assured he was doing well and had been recommended by both Melly and Youngie to get a contract. Coutts told he was being released after last 19's game!!!. Now left at end of Season with no games left to put himself on show and looks like another player could be lost to the game thoroughly disallusioned by it all. Had his best season ever for the 'Well, worked hard and all team mates thought it guaranteed he would get a contract. Knock on effect is at least one has knocked back a year contract as the quote was 'if he has played that well and cant get a contract what chance for me in a year'. Yes MMG reserves the right to select the team, but the sour taste is not telling players sooner so that they have a chance to put themselves in the shop window. So MMG dont give me the bullshit about playing young players, you are just using them to cover your back should next season go horribly wrong!!!
  10. Coutts is out of contract and NO contract offer on the table despite being recommended for one. Is reading between the lines that season is almost finished, contract not offered and given permission to talk to other Clubs that he is not wanted. Several others in the 19's in the same boat but unfortunately as Motherwell are leaving it to the very last minute to tell them one way or another. This will leave them at a disadvantage when trying to find other Clubs. Other players the same age at other Clubs have been told about their futures and have managed to use their remaining games to put themselves in the shop window. This is 'wells last 19's game today and they have not been told. Feel sorry for all the boys in this position. It sucks!!
  11. MM said at the start of this year that he intended having 2 full time goalkeepers only, which would mean that only back up next year to them would be an under 19's goalie
  12. Saw this in the Eveningtimes "HIBS have made a move to land Motherwell keeper Graeme Smith on a pre-contract with a view to signing the 25-year-old on a three-year deal. Smith has been attracting interest from several Championship sides, with Nottingham Forest and Cardiff understood to have been monitoring his situation But Hibs have faxed Fir Park with a letter of intent, and Easter Road officials will speak to the player and his agent. Well have tabled an offer of a new deal to their keeper, but he seems certain to leave after three years at the Lanarkshire side."
  13. We have all had a go at some time in our supporter lives at the loyalty shown by players and our annoyance when they move to other clubs but have we ever thought how the under 23 ruling affects younger players. At the end of this season it is anticipated that the Reserve league may go and that up to 400 players in the Scottish game alone will be looking for new Clubs. It therefore makes sense and fairness to under 23 players that if they are not getting contracts renewed etc that they be told at the earliest opportunity so that they can put themselves in the shop window for the remaining games of their contracts. Nothing is in place to protect these young players and the benefits are all for the Clubs as opposed to what happens to players over 23. We have the interesting part with Hughes and Buzz having the hold over the Club, but the Club has the hold over younger players. If you look at the under 23 ruling I think we would agree it was really aimed at bigger Clubs poaching our young players, however for those that are not the Rooneys and Flecks of the world it works against them. In addition some Clubs will obviously wait until they see if they are finishing in the top 6 etc to see what their finances are, which makes economic sense. If you look at our current 19’s, the league is due to finish at the end of March, although I see there are still a couple of postponed games to be played in April. If no contracts are renewed they are left fighting it out with other players for trials at Clubs in July onwards. So I ask this question, bearing in mind several of our young lads are at the end of their contracts, can any players under 23 be criticised, by us the supporters, if the players get an agent to start generating interest from elsewhere just in case they do not get a contract??
  14. Smacks of desperation by some people on here to sign someone just for the sake of it. Yes we would like to see a signing but surely for the benefit of the team and at a price we can afford.
  15. I totally agree with what you say but it is the afforable part for the Club. MM has said he can only afford two full time keepers. Both the young lads would also be on full time wages. Can we afford that bearing in mind most new signings we take in are loan signings. I personally agree with the idea of sending them and other 19/20s out on loan so that hopefully they can go out and prove themselves, so that the Club are screamimg to get them back again.
  16. Both will be too old to play 19's and it is well reported that Clubs are hoping to do away with Reserve football. This is going to be a problem for players in these age brackets at all Clubs if Reserve team football is done away with.
  17. I see this quote from MM on BBC Site "We're going to run with two full-time goalkeepers next season, if Graeme Smith re-signs," said the manager. "If he doesn't, Michael Fraser will step in and we will then look for cover. "But we are still very hopeful that Graeme will decide he should be here a bit longer and then we will have two really good goalkeepers instead of looking for a loan." Interesting time next week when Coutts and Seb return from Cyprus then. Sounds like the door has opened for them to go with no future at the Club next Season. Hopefully they will tell them so they can put themsleves in the shop window.
  18. He is meantime in Cyprus with the under 19's. Quite sure his future will be sorted one way or the other on his return. It would be only right for him to find out where this signing leaves him.
  19. Port Vale star Joe Anyon could be set for a move to Scotland after a couple of SPL clubs were strongly linked, skysports.com understands. The highly-rated 22-year-old goalkeeper could move north of the border for nothing at the end of the season, should he opt to leave Vale Park. A number of Premier League and Championship clubs also continue to scout Anyon - who has already played nearly 100 first-team games for Vale. Vale, now in League Two, know they will find it hard to keep hold of one of their prized assets and could cash in on him this month instead of risking losing him for nothing at the end of the season. Dundee United and Motherwell are now believed to be heading the chase for Anyon and the fact they could land him for nothing in the summer is sure to be a big appeal to the Scottish sides.
  20. I see from the Motherwell site that Kenny Connelly has come to the end of his contract and decided to leave to find first teal football. All the best to him and hope he finds a new Club shortly. He leaves in good terms with the Club which is always nice to see.
  21. Apologies for doubting your opinion way back on the 6th. I see in News of the World today there is a piece about Krysiak being on loan and challenging Buzz and Mcghee quoted as follows "We cant afford two goalkeepers of that quality permanently. So we get someone in who can put Buzz under pressure, as Artur is likely to do, at a cost we can afford"
  22. Guys just as well the game is off today. It is howling an absolute gale up here in Inverurie and we all know how poor conditions can be a great leveller. Having seen Locos play in the past I am quite sure their game plan in this wind would be to lump high balls up the park towards our defence with cavalry charge from their attack and midfield. Would not have been a pretty game to watch, but would have been a hell of a squeeky bum time!!
  23. Was replying to the quote that Motherwell would never have a second permanent keeper again. Was not commenting ona bility!!!
  24. 'Good to see us getting a goalie in for cover and I'd agree with the comments made earlier that it looks like we'll only ever have one permanent keeper. It makes sense I guess though, it's cheaper to get someone on loan than have a full-timer on the books who never plays.' Hope Coutts and Kosiorowski are reading this and see that they have no future at the Club. Must inspire them for their last Season at Under 19's!!!
