  1. The late point at Tannadice in January. To that moment we had been going downhill from a great start. From that moment we never really looked back. But for a phenomenal end to the season by Utd we would have had 3rd place in the bag long ago. If Utd had taken 3 points that day the end of the season would have been even more squeaky.
  2. We should have won that about 11-1!
  3. I remember him going on an incredible run in a game, I think against Rangers where he did three or four Ronaldo type stepovers in a row. Very out of character. Might be wrong about the opposition...
  4. £1m + is totally viable. Every season ticket holder at the entry level is £1.1m. Of course, not everyone can do that, but some can and will buy the higher priced options. Chuck in just a few 1886 members and it's easy to see how this works. You don't have to do it by March, do it when you can or spread the cost as descibed above. If we all get together and participate at the level or in the way we can afford, this works.
  5. I can't really contribute as I have only seen the games at home.
  6. A couple of guys who were on the brink of the Scotland squad before leaving Fir Park to "advance their careers" - Fraser Wishart and Scott Howie (really).
  7. Well done to the Club for this. Maybe this is a wee experiment for us as well - if the gate is much bigger than usual I'm sure the reduced gate prices will be a large reason for it, which might send a message about the high gate prices commonly seen.
  8. A bit surprised McMillan isn't getting more of a mention. A cracking player who was getting better and better before he went to Wigan and then had to retire because of injury. If Lee McCulloch (who went with him) became a Premiership player then Studs would certainly have made it.
  9. I agree we should keep the bears but get them to do more. Sammy the Tammy is/was a crap looking mascot but he was usually entertaining. If you want to focus on a Matchday experience for kids:- 1. Kids snackboxes in the pie stall, (or alternatively don't run out of hotdogs as the first half ends); 2. Kids matchday magazine. Why I buy an 8 year old the programme I have no idea; 3. The opportunity to get on the park by way of competitions, lucky dips, etc 4. Promote the Clart & Amber club more. I've 2 kids who go to just about every home game on their Season Tickets. Never heard from the Claret & Amber Club. Kids just want to feel part of it.

    Mark Reynolds

It's amazing how many on here not only are not surprised that Reynolds is apparently struggling at Sheff Wed but were telling us all for the last three years that he was pish. I must have missed the "Reynolds must go" campaign.

    Lost Coat/keys

At the end of the Burns Supper in the Centenary on Friday night I went to get my coat to find someone had taken it, I'm sure by mistake. It's a grey overcoat and there was a similar one left at the end of the night. Problem is my keys were in the pocket. If anyone lifted it by mistake could you please contact Wendy or Diane at FP. Thanks.
  12. I don't think it particularly matters who contacted who first. If it was Brown (and remember he absolutely denied this last week), then Aberdeen still induced the breach of contract by discussing the prospect of a job with them. What they should have done is say, ok we want to talk to you Mr Brown, but we need to speak to Motherwell first. Clearly they didn't do that.
  13. I had posted this elsewhere, but I think it is relevant to this thread: This is the SPL Rule on tapping up: Employees Contracts H3 No Club shall directly or indirectly induce or attempt to induce any employee of another Club to terminate a contract of employment with that other Club (whether or not by breach of that contract) or directly or indirectly approach any such employee with a view to offering employment without the consent of that other Club. For the purpose of this Rule H3, "Club" means a member club of the SFA. £10 to whoever can find the word "written" in there. Is there really any argument that Brown and Knox were employees? We paid them, they turned up for work, on his pension forms Brown would put MFC under "employer" and they resigned. You can't resign if you are not employed. Either the press are deliberately misunderstanding this or are genuinely thick. The argument here is not about compensation. It is about tapping up.

  15. Brown is off his head if he thinks this is a good move. It's easy to forget that before we gave him the job he was hardly the respected elder statesman of Scottish football than he seemed to become. We gave him a chance to regain some respect, he did that, and then has gone and made a total arse of himself.

    Club Statement

The lack of a contract means nothing. They were still employees of MFC and Aberdeen are well out of order. The Club are right to kick up about this. No doubt the SPL will do sod all about it but how hard would it have been for Stewart Milne or Willie Miller to have had the manners to phone Motherwell before poaching our manager. A real low point for Aberdeen and for Brown. Glad the club statement rises above the level set by them.
  17. Much as Lasley always gives you 100%, there is no way anyone is buying the Lasley for Scotland line. Reynolds should be in the squad. Scotland are desperately short of pace and he is quicker than any of the defenders currently in the squad. He is also one for the future, whcih you cant say about Lasley.

    Odense 2nd Leg

Saunders for me. The boy has come on a ton recently and is looking more and more like the real deal. I don't get all this criticism of other players. We played well last night and the goal just wouldn't go in. Seen plenty of games like that over the years, just a pity it happened in a game as huge as last night's.

The game being on TV would obviously affect the Hibs support, maybe the home support less so. We have been on the telly far too often recently.
  20. The idea of the first kid free is a good one. Perhaps it should be all kids free when with a paying adult or season ticket holder. When I go on my own I don't buy a programme, don't go to the pie stall at half time and, if I do go in to the Club shop, rarely buy anything. When I take my six year old the programme and visit to the pie stall are a certainty and, more than likely, I'm putting my hand in my pocket in the Club shop. The Club makes money off kids even when they get in for nothing and they also, hopefully, get another fan for life.
  21. For two years under McGhee, and even before that, we were suspect at corners and free kicks into the box. It was clear then and it's clear now that the problem was that we had neither a big dominant centre half nor a big dominant goalie. This season we have had at least one of those in Ruddy and (potentially) the other in Hutchison. Last night we had neither and it showed. We can't necessarily afford another keeper as good as Ruddy and if we are going to go with Fraser or another keeper like him (decent but not big enough) then we need a big dominant centre half.
  22. Stevie Kirk to make it 4-2 in the Semi 1991. Psycho's goal was a better goal but it was Kirky's that meant we were in the final.
  23. He's fearless. Doesn't care if he upsets experienced pro's; will play youngsters to see if they sink or swim; speaks his mind without fear or favour. Most managers get worn down by the need to succeed and lose the enthusiasm and fun of football which is what it should be all about (as do most players). Can't accuse Jim of that. Hope that's still the case when we lose a few on the spin (which we will).
  24. The reason I asked is because I am curious and I don't know the answer. My memory tells me that Craigan seems to score more og's than most and I was wondering if I am right or whether my mind is playing tricks. Every og is unlucky. An og, or even several, doesn't make Stephen Craigan a bad player.
  25. Aye, very good. I'm not disputing that he does all those things, but as a point of interest, I pose the question.
