  1. How is this ballot shite going to work though? If you have to get a ticket via a draw then you'll likely not be sitting next to your mates etc.

What's wrong with general sale after the season ticket sales?

  2. Totally understand where you are coming from, but playing devils advocate I can see where the other argument comes from too and to be honest part of me says that surely football fans who make a genuine financial contribution to Scottish Fitba should be catered for before the 'day trippers' who wouldnt know the difference between the Main Stand and the Cooper Stand, Stevie Kirk fae Joe McLeod or the Scottish Cup fae the League Cup.

Wouldn't we be hoping that a percentage of these "day trippers" who come to the final maybe end up coming to Fir Park next season on the back of a cup win? Espceially the younger members of the crowd?

The fact is, anyone who comes through those gates at Hampden to support Motherwell should be given the same respect as the fan who sits through the games on a cold, wet Wednesday night in Inverness.

We need to encourage more fans to get involved, not label them day trippers and tourists.

  3. Missed my point I think, Dave.

I was meaning that I can undesrtand the (cellic) argument behind us getting an allocation that correlates to our regular support rather than our regular support + maws + burds.

Nah, it's the national cup final, so it should be split 50/50 regardless of who get's to the final.

We shouldn't be penalised for our lack of sectarian marketability.

  4. what? Cellic season-ticket holders not getting tickets because my motherwell season ticket holding mate is taking his maw and burd with him?

The Celtic season ticket holder has nothing to do with where the Motherwell allocation goes though, does he?

  5. I've said it before, I have a degree of sympathy with a season ticket holder of any club who cant get a ticket for a national final because of umpteen thousand day trippers.

Has anyone actually known this to ever happen though?

  6. in my book anyone that forks out the cash to get in the motherwell end in claret and amber and singing their hearts out are all REAL FANS and I couldnt label any single one of them a glory hunter as i have no knowledge or interest in how many games the've been to how many strips they have or how many posts they have made on a supporters forum!!

Seeing as you've made just 163 posts in over two years on this forum I'd say that you should be right at the back of the line for a cup final ticket ;)

  7. If we get allocated 18,000 tickets, I want to see 18,000 'Well fans there regardless of how many ticket stubs they have in their collection.

It's the showcase final of the season and we're in it, so that's all that matters

  8. that's what I thought but the Motherwell site still has it as TBC, tv once more moving the kick off time? I fecking hope not!!

Nah, the Scottish cup final is the like the final frontier when it comes to television changing the kick off time.

    3pm all the way hopefully!

  9. Let's be realistic here, we're not going to win the Cup because we will not be able to get the better of Celtic at Hampden with a trophy at stake, not a prayer.

Can I just ask, in all seriousness, why the fuck do you even bother? Why not pack in supporting (and I use that term in the loosest possible sense) Motherwell and go do something you'll actually enjoy?

Or are you just one of those negative, sad sack characters in general?

  10. Hopefully hear something on tuesday. Loads of the malloys supporters I have spoken to seem to be certain we are getting a 50/50 spilt, wonder where they get there updates as we havent heard as much as a mouse fart on the issue. I'm positive it will be 15,000 with an additional 2 or 3 thousand which should be more than ample, altought I don't see why they should be getting more.

According to the media, such as Keevins etc, it'll be a 50/50 split, with any tickets we don't take up being shifted over to Celtic shortly before the final.

What kind of prices are we talking here? Anyone got an idea?

  11. With Mr Boyle due to call it a day at the end of this season I thought a thread to remember some of the positive stuff (although I'm sure there'll be those who wish to concentrate on the negative) he has done for the club over the past 14 years or so.

First of all, no one will ever forget the turbulent spell from 1997 until the early 2000's, when we saw a managerial roll call that included Billy Davies, Eric Black & Terry Butcher. We were close to going to the wall, and managed to avoid relegation on a technicality.

Whilst no one will ever forget or try to downplay that period, it's worth remembering that Boyle steered the ship out of those waters, making some unpopular & difficult decisions, but doing what had to be done to get us back on track, including reducing our yearly losses to one of the lowest in the SPL at the time.

Excluding a short stint with Malpas as manager it can be said that most of Boyle's managerial appointments have been sound. We've seen the likes of Butcher, Mark McGhee, Craig Brown (boo, hiss etc) and finally Stuart McCall.

We've also seen the likes of Faddy, Don Goodman, Andy Goram, John Spencer, Dirk Lehmann, Scott McDonald, Jim Hamilton, Phil, Ross McCormack, the Juke & big Klimpl to mention but a few pass through the door of Fir Park.

Couple all of that with various European excursions through the years, I think it's safe to say that Boyle has given us more ups than downs.

Let's hope he finishes his stint at Fir Park on a high come May 21st.
