  1. theres a guy i know who has no interest in football and never been to a well game before but hes managed to get 4 tickets through the ballot for him his wife and 2 weans and the only reason he wants to go is because he works in motherwell.im no saying i deserve a ticket more than anybody else but ive been to every scottish cup game this season and the thought of missing out in a cup final is depressing especially to folk thatll be no where near fir park next season

I'm assuming that this guy won't be on any database held by the club then? Surprised he got a ticket in that case.

  2. Look, the simple fact is that there are always going to be people getting tickets who don't deserve them no matter what system is used. You can't hold the club responsible for that.

I'm sure they're doing the best they can with the situation.

Look at it this way, at least you're not a Celtic fan trying to get tickets. I know a few who are season ticket holders, travelled in Europe and so forth who have been told they aren't getting anything!

  3. Steve Jones left Northern Ireland as a 12-year-old.

Twenty three years on, the latest stop on his football career offers a chilling reminder of his childhood.

On the night the winger netted his maiden league goal for Motherwell in their 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening, Neil Lennon was suffering the latest in a string of personal attacks that have plunged Scottish football into the headlines for all the wrong reasons once again.

Everything from Lennon’s fiery touchline persona to his Northern Irish Catholic background have been touted as motives for the mindless minority to act, dragging Scotland back to a time when division was rife. It is a familiar situation for Jones.

“I was brought up in Londonderry,” Jones said. “You had to go across Derry to go shopping, you had to look after yourself. I moved across to Manchester when I was 12.

“It was a fresh start for the family. We moved for my father’s job and then my football career started.

“We kept ourselves to ourselves really. My parents didn’t like us wandering about the place, that is just how they were. I was oblivious to what the real threats were out there.

“He [my father] said leaving was for his job but, as I have grown older, I have thought to myself ‘was it a bit of both?’ It is fair credit to him. He has left a fair chunk of his personal life behind to start afresh.”

More than a fair chunk of Neil Lennon’s life has been aired over the course of this season; the touchline attack the culmination of a lengthy assault on the Celtic manager’s safety.

“It is horrendous,” Jones said. “He is a human being and he has got a family. He is just trying to do things to the best of his ability. There are always altercations – that’s the way the people are in Glasgow, it is Catholic or Protestant isn’t it? It is the same in Nothern Ireland, it is something you would think would be derailed in this day and age.”

With the Clydesdale Bank Premier League drawing to a close, the hype around Lennon may hopefully and belatedly cool. Celtic head into their final match against Motherwell in need of three points and a favour from Kilmarnock to end a tumultuous campaign on a positive note. Jones’ former Northern Ireland team-mates Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty and David Healy will take to Rugby Park knowing they are just a win away from three in a row.

“I know them all well,” said Jones. “I speak to them regularly. They are all geared up to win it. It is all in their hands. Steve has texted me saying we have to get a point off them [Celtic]. We roomed together for Nothern Ireland and became good pals, he is a top guy. They are all smashing lads.”

  4. To be fair, although I'm never happy to see my team take their foot off the pedal somewhat, it has to be said that in past seasons the teams who come into the top six split with basically nothing to play for usually drop their performance levels for the last few games.

If we had been challenging for a European spot like we have in the past I'm sure it would have been different.

I'm not excusing the performances though, as there are people who have paid good money to come and watch the team, and they deserve the effort.

  5. If I'd known h**s who have probably only been to Fir Park as an away fan would get contacted ahead of me I'd have been in the Scottish Cup sub forum asking to travel through and stand in the queue with a season ticket holder who wasn't using full allocation

If it was me I'd probably have done that anyway, such was my intent to get hold of a ticket for the game.

Do you have access to the Scottish cup section now?

  6. I'd happily forfeit a victory or draw on Sunday to see Celtic win the title, thus ensuring another European adventure for us next season.

My gameplan would be to let Celtic go two goals up then start kicking hell out of their most influential players

On a serious note, I'd love to see a Motherwell win, as it'll set us up nicely for the final, helping to plant a seed of doubt in their minds.

  7. I was down at the park yesterday and happened to notice that the ticket office was rather chaotic.

People wanting more adult tickets for the family section than they were allowed etc.

    Happy days!

  8. I like the look of the 125 years shirt but like a few others would have preferred something a but different from the norm.

I suspect that if the shirt had seen a clear move away from the recognisable Motherwell colours and/or design we would have seen a lot of people complaining about that fact.

The shirt looks excellent, and all parties involved deserve recognition for the work put in.

  9. It'll be linked to my Cup Final tickets in some way or another -not overly fussed

The lad I went up with also go a season ticket and no reciept but he did notice at the time the lads infront of us never got a reciept for their cash ST purchases so he thought nothing of it at the time.

The only reason I mention it is because I got myself a season ticket for next season at the shop in Brandon Parade, and the woman who served me made a big deal of telling me to keep my receipt as this was the only way I had of proving that I'd actually bought & paid for my ticket.

It may have been different at the ticket office, but I'd still double check that when you get the chance.

  10. So, what's the procedure for those who want tickets for the final now? Are the club ringing those who are successful in the ballot? Or is it a case of queue up tomorrow morning and hope for the best?
