Aye, serious competition for worst performance today. Hateley, Daley or Ojaama probably vying for that.
-
Thing is, I know you're joking but many's a true word spoken in jest..
-
Humphrey, Jennings and Higdon pass marks. Rest of them, forget it..
-
Personally on Sunday, I'd go with Randolph Hateley Hutchinson Clancy Hammell Humphrey Carswell Jennings Law Higdon McHugh Ojamma's form has shaded and perhaps he could make an impact coming off the bench. The reason I'd go for McHugh ahead of Murphy is simply that McHugh will be more inclined to play closer to Higdon. That and the fact that McHugh has been scoring goals in bounce games so should be confident...

Not saying Ruday was a bad keeper but I can remember a few howlers when he was here. He has developed well since then. Ruddy was good at the spectacular. The triple save at Tannadice springs to mind. But then I remember (also at Tannadice) him losing the ball to the oppostion striker. Kind of, the sublime to the ridiculous.. Randolph doesn't pull off as many spectacular saves but he is consistent and doesn't concede many howlers. Basically with Randolph, you get 7 or 8 out of 10 most weeks, rarely has a stinker. With Ruddy most weeks, you got a 8 or a 9 out of 10 but he could occasionally throw in a 5. Not much in it, but Randolph shades it for me simply because I ike my keepers to be pretty consistent..

No mention of our most sellable asset in all this talk? Randolph, for me, is the player that would command the biggest fee and would have more clubs sniffing around. If John Ruddy can develop into a Premiership goalkeeper in a season away from us, no reason Randolph can't. In my opinion, Randolph is a better keeper than Ruddy was when he was here.

No Halsman listed suggests that Clancy will play at left back. That list illustrates what we all know, that if you take two or three players out (in this case Hammell, Jennings and Craigan) and it starts to look like a very thin squad. I think we can bin any talk of "anything less than a win is unacceptable" on that basis. Any provincial club is going to struggle if they're missing three of their most experienced players. Looking at that squad, I'd rip your arm off for a draw on Sunday...

Can we? Yes, of course. Will we? Not so sure. Honestly, I have no idea how it's going to pan out..

Sadly I saw this coming weeks ago. I said in the pub before the Aberdeen cup game, that I could see us finishing fifth. I was laughed out of court that day. I suspect if I were to say it now, the reaction would be somewhat different. Having said that, I'd still rather have the points in the bank as we do. Dundee United are on a good run but as we know ourselves the wheels can come off a good run very easily. St Johnstone have made the worst signing of the season in Riordan so it's not all doom and gloom...

As Lobey says, could (should?) have been down to nine men. Although having said that Lasley's booking was soft. Randolph and full back four look edgy. Understandable given our record against Rangers maybe...

I'd go with Hollis Devlin Cummins Page Halsman Pollock Carswell Forbes Lawless McHugh Erwin Well, if we're going to lose anyway, we're best trying to avoid any suspensions that will affect us in the run in...

Champions League Qualifiers Or Winning The League Cup?
MelvinBragg replied to David's topic in Club Chat
A cup win, every time... -
Different positions. If you look closely , both lists are a 442. Could only pick one left winger and for me it had to be McFadden. Close call though..

I think there's a distinction to be made between Favourite and Best. With that in mind... Favourites Dykstra Quinn Nijholt Teale Hammell Lasley Russell Valakari McFadden Cusack Clarkson Best Randolph Burley Nijholt Krivokapic McKinnon Kirk Lambert O'Donnell McFadden Coyne Porter I did see McAllister and McClair (first time around) but being honest, I was too young to appreciate them..
-
I tend to agree with Frazzle, that Hateley and Jennings shouldn't be on that list. I'd also question the other four I have in bold. If you mean your favourite 20 players rather then the top 20, then you can have any players you like...
-
I would argue that in Clancy, Hutchinson and Saunders, we already have three centre backs ahead of him in the pecking order and Page would be a perfectly adequate fourth choice. I like Craigan as an individual but offering him a contract would seem dat if we can keep the four I've mentioned. Obviously this depends on Saunders getting back to full fitness..
-
I know, mate. Was being a bit tongue in cheek mentioning Hammell. You're right though and it's something I'd like to see more of. We only had two Scots in our starting eleven yesterday. Obviously that doesn't take into account that Page and Cummins are technically from our youth system..
-
You forgot Stevie Hammell..
-
The Own Goals Coach? Just kidding, but if McCall is having his budget cut this summer, you need to look at what you're getting for each wage. And you have to figure Craigan will be among the higher earners while sitting on the bench. Doesn't make sense really..
-
On today's evidence (and it was only one game, granted), Craigan is a wage we don't need to spend next season..
-
For me, between Page and Jennings. Page probably gets the nod if only because he's been much maligned recently. Carswell and Humphrey both had good games too. Cummins didn't let himself down. Randolph and Hammell were as dependable as always with each having a moment of brilliance. You could make a case for most of the team..
-
Kenny Black on the BBC suggesting Craigan might make it. Part of me hopes not as it's been a while since we've had someone from the U19s break through..
-
Personally I just don't see the point in bringing in someone for one game. The flipside to the two rookies argument would be, for me anyway, that at least the U19 centre back will know Page and therefore might have more of an understanding..
-
Why spend money on a loan signing for one game? Play one of the U19s. It's one game, we may find that one of them has the strength of character to step up. If every time we have a crisis like this, we go for a loan signing, we'll never find out if our U19s have what it takes...

I just don't see it with him, sorry. Decent player but most exciting player since Faddy? He has potential but is making bad decisions. I don't know if he's believing his own press but he needs to stop trying to take on the opposition singlehanded. He should be releasing the ball earlier. And part of the impact he had initially was the fact that Higdon had someone playing close to him. He seems to be playing further and further away from Higdon now. I'm not suggesting he's a bad player but he seems exempt from criticism. Only Humphrey caused Aberdeen any problems today but I knew before I came on here that Ojaama would "have been a handful". Christ, leading the MOTM poll the last I checked. Seems he can do no wrong.
