Not sure whether this belongs in Former Players or here given the article suggests we're also in for him. I half suspect it's lazy journalism to throw our name in there... https://www.sportsboom.co.uk/football/exclusive-aberdeen-chasing-allan-campbell

Fuck no...

Unless there's a free agent that can play left back, I wouldn't be rushing into the free agent market unless there's a player significantly better than what we have. The two mentioned are wingers. Given we have Said, Maswanhise, Just, Charles-Cook and Luca Ross all vying for two wing spots, I don't imagine it's a priority..

I'd argue that the defence hasn't shipped too many howlers this season. Rangers goal - set piece Hearts - first goal was a belter, second goal got caught marginally with a high line, third GK error. Killie - First goal is one I'll give you, second goal GK error... Not many needless goals shipped to my mind. This is not to say Welsh won't be a decent signing. But just feel our centre halfs haven't been that culpable for goals this season...

To be fair, a lot has happened this summer. I forgot about Charles-Cook about two days after we signed him. Someone suggested to me how he might not be fit enough to start vs Killie and I was like "I forgot we signed him"...

Blaney is at Livingston...

I take your point but if someone was to ask me about Nicholson or various others we've had at Fir Park my first instinctive answer would be 'injury prone'. Sometimes it's just that your instinctive answer is right. As in Louis Moult or Rolando Aarons. Sometimes not. As is pointed out in the case of Chris Porter as weeyin pointed out... Just worthwhile having a range of opinions. I'll confess I don't know if he can fill in at left back and with Wilson out on loan, I kind of assumed we'd sign a defender that could play left centre back and also cover Longelo at left back...

I texted a mate of mine who has a season ticket at Parkhead when I saw us linked with him. His short response was "Sick note. Never seen him complete 90 minutes". Obviously an exaggeration but if his first thought is not about his ability but his injury track record, it does suggest it's an issue...

Take it you haven't seen Aberdeen play yet this season?
-
If you're looking at former players and after a goalie with good distribution, I gather Trevor Carson is unhappy being second choice at Dundee...
-
Watt and Fadinger as a combination are fantastic. Real drop off when one of them isn't there...

I don't feel the subs helped us today. I actually think taking Said off was a factor. He was picking up the ball in space between their midfield and defence and while not everything was coming off, it was making things happen...

Goalie? If the manager doesn't feel Oxborough is good enough with the ball at his feet...

I think if Balmer goes, we sign one centre back. Also wouldn't be surprised if we signed a left sided centre back who can also play left back (like Charles Dunne, except good) so making it one defender brought in rather than two.. Might see a midfielder but with the arrival of Priestman and McGhee able to play defensive midfield, thr manager may feel he has Just for attacking midfield and can move Fadinger forward to it if required... I know managers always say this but the manager (and Caldwell the other day) made mention of getting the right players. And we haven't signed many jersey fillers this summer. Wondering if that might mean that JBA would rather go with what he has rather than sign the 'wrong' player...

And was a disaster there..
-
Yep, two points dropped...

Many shite players have scored against us to help us lose to many shite teams led by many shite managers...

Two surprises in one day. I suspect a 3-0 lead at Tynecastle was the first surprise...
-
I think you make a fair point. My expectations are always avoid relegation and see what happens. Invariably I expect us to finish around 8th. But there are different ways to finish 8th in the league. We could grind our way there or we could play the way we're playing just now, win a few and lose a few but entertain along the way. Would I like us to finish as high ip the league as possible? Of course. But I enjoyed watching Butcher's team that finished bottom more than Alexander's team that finished fifth. Basically I want Motherwell to be as successful as possible but don't know if I want that if it means watching dreadful football...
-
If a point in Tynecastle can be described as a bump in the road, we really are raising standards...
-
I know and agree with your point. I was just responding to the person saying that his team were in the lower reaches of the Belgian second tier...
-
His team just got relegated from the top tier...
-
Or Gordon or McGhee being rushed into action...
-
Aye, definitely two points dropped...

Did Rangers fans not also cause a lot of damage to the disabled section at Rugby Park? Like others, I'm inclined to say they're both as bad as each other behaviour wise...
