Given that he couldn't get a game for Walsall for most of last season he's likely another Mandron.

    Not encouraging.

Tom Aldred wasn't wanted at Bury. Scott McDonald had one foot on the boat back to Australia. Kipre was second choice of the trialists. We've got the best out of any number of players that didn't fit in anywhere else. Is he a sure thing? Nope, but I'm struggling to remember the last 'sure thing' we signed..

Time to move on and get someone else in. Unless the plan is to develop Lennon Miller, but thats a huge gamble on the young man, and we would probably need another body in their as back up given we have lost Goss and Cornelius.

I tend to agree. I would like to see a lot of Miller this season but we don't want to be relying upon him. Paton is another body in midfield, but I'd like to see another. Maybe see more of Tierney but that would mean Spittal playing slightly further back which sounds like a bad idea given how well he's been playing further forward under Kettlewell...

Yeah I certainly wouldn’t trust any Motherwell team to get a result against Airdrie. The same goes for games against Accies. We always go into games like that as though getting a result isn’t as important to us as it is to them.

I think what Dave was referring to was the 'men vs boys' aspect. In the literal not the metaphorical sense...

Spittal 6 Goals 7 assists Goss 1 Goal 4 assists

Furlong and Johnston played half a season and got 3 assists each

Not saying he can't pass but its what you should expect from a Premiership player (i know that earleir no one could string two passes together but that must have been training/confidence under Hammell)

On these stats he is not making as many key passes as you may think

Paul Scholes' assist numbers weren't fantastic. I think it's only one way of measuring it. You have to ask who is playing Johnston, Furlong and Spittal into the positions where they can cut it back to the strikers..?

I take it that Goss isn’t resigning.

out of interest are Motherwell taking any players that are on trial to Netherlands?

Not sure about Goss. I wondered if the fact he has been away with Northern Ireland might have delayed any announcement one way or another...

Just on Wellfans point, it does seem a bit underwhelming to be linked with the likes of Preston North End and various League One clubs to then land at Harrogate.

I think (and this applies to Max Johnston as well) wherever he ends up, if he wants to develop then he needs to be playing regular football. Could be that he'd develop more playing for Harrogate Town 30 times next season than sitting on Preston North End's bench (or in their stand) and making 7 sub appearances...

For first half of the season we had a very poor defence in front  of Kelly gifting goals every week .

as soon as butcher and Casey arrived we tightened up and Kelly got back to normal form .

best keeper we’ve had since likes of Randolph

That last statement is nonsense. Carson and Gillespie were both better...

Danzaki has came from a totally different country and needs time to adjust though that isn't a gimme with a lot of our fans. Give him 6 months and see how it works

Given so far his contributions are only better than Ross McCormack Mk II and Holm Kraska, we'd need to see a LOT more.. But we know that in a choice between Paton and him, Kettlewell will go for Paton so hard to see how Danzaki even gets a chance to make an impact...

I think he'll be away in this transfer window...

What goalscorer are we going to atract? weve already got 8 contracted attacking players for next season in

    Van Veen who's off, Efford,Shields,Atchinson,Tierney,Spittal,Danzaki,Morris

Pretty sure Aitchison and Efford are out of contract. So when we sell Van Veen, we will only have one striker on the books and he's been on loan at Queens Park...

appreciate its frustrating when things don’t go well but I’ve no issue with any of our recent gaffers .

Please tell me that Mark McGhee is an exception here...

Hearts binned Snodgrass when Naismith came in as interim manager.

That I did not know. Cheers. Then Arfield to Hearts makes sense. Although as Dave pointed out in another post, it has that feeling of a signing Dundee would blow a large chunk of their budget on...

I would give him a two year deal looking at his record keeps himself fit played 40-50 times each season he was at Rangers also good for a goal.

Would improve our midfield greatly but i suspect bigger clubs with more wedge will be sniffing about him.

The obvious clubs would be Hearts, but they already have Snodgrass, or Dundee United if they stay up, but they already have an unsustainable wage bill. Hibs? Maybe.. Aberdeen, I suspect are going younger.

Would I sign him? Not sure. Spittal has been doing well as the most advanced of our midfield three so Arfield might seem like an expensive luxury. But I don't think he'll be outwith our price range...

I think the amount offered was due to the fact it was during our season and the purchasing club needed it to go through before the Chinese window shut. The fact we refused it would be more down to our precarious league position rather than assuming the bid was too low.

Like it or not, our Premier League status is precarious at the start of every season. Therefore our main attacking threat should always have a reasonably large price tag...

  14. I find it hard to see Van Veen ending up at another Scottish club. If the rumours are true that we turned down around £700k for him not long ago, you have to figure that's the kind of figure we're looking for in the summer. Who in Scotland can pay that? Neither Rangers nor Celtic will be interested. Hearts? May have the money after European football and may have the need if the rumours are true that they're ready to cash in on Shankland? But if you're Hearts and you're going to be spending that kind of money, I highly doubt it'll be on a 32 year old with little chance of recouping any of it. Aberdeen? Aye, very good. Similar story to Hearts other than the fact that I'm not sure they have the cash...
