Ojamaa made the difference.
-
Get Ojamaa starting Tuesday, boy made all the difference. Much better 2nd half, deserved point.
-
Ross McCormack was here for 2 years and gave us a good 6 months. Faddy was a far better player than him IMO. For me it's not even close. I remember Faddy's final full season where he scored the winner against both halves of the Old Firm, scoring a double in a 6-1 demolition of Hearts and that Hat Trick against Livi. He also won the SPL young player of the year award that season and scored 19 goals in a poor team that finished bottom of the SPL. He's the best player I've seen play for Motherwell in the 15 odd years I've been going. Now it's hard to tell where Faddy is and if he'll ever be the same where as McCormack seems to be on the up. However if both were fit I would take Faddy everytime. I'd also take Skippy back before McCormack as well.

And your idea to solve this is to get rid of Humphrey, Murphy & Higdon and sign.. Good one.
-
Randolph Hateley Hutchinson Craigan Hammell Humphrey Lasley Jennings Law Murphy Higdon Back to basics for me. First choice back five which has been pretty solid for large spells this season. Hateley back to right back where he's at his best. Get Las and Jennings back together in the middle, a good performance from them will be the foundation for another victory at Tannadice. I would Punt Law back to the left and get him on the ball in space where he can do damage. He has to stop coming inside so much to look for the ball when he's supposed to be outwide. Like on Saturday where he kept tucking in and left us with no natural width on the right and left Clancy with the almost impossible task of trying to be Dani Alves by forcing him to try and be right winger and right back with little support. Actually felt a bit sorry for Clancy on Saturday as I felt he was doing his best in an uncomfortable role he wasn't used to. And finally unleash the Humph! He's been poor this season but he had a good cameo against QP and looked sharp in the bounce match against Fleetwood setting up another goal. A long spell on the bench hopefully has him fired up and he should have space to do some damage in what should be an open match. I would go 442 as above and I actually think McCall will go with my 11 but will start with Murphy on the left, Humphrey on the right and Law in a midfield three with Jennings and Lasley. Try and make us a bit more solid and not conceed an early goal type thing and try and grow into the game. Maybe not a bad idea given our recent form. United will probably come at us and it will give us a chance to play the counter attacking game that suits us. Hopefully we get more support to Higdon, think the first goal will be crucial so hopefully we'll get it. A draw wouldn't be a bad result but I fancy us to suprise a few people with a good performance and a win.

Motherwell Vs Fleetwood Town (Closed Doors Game)
Well 4 Europe replied to postiejim's topic in Club Chat
Motherwell: Bradley, Carswell, Halsman, Pollock, Page, McKinnon, Humphrey, Jennings (Smith – 70mins), McHugh, Ojamaa (Howarth – 78mins), Forbes Good to see Jenno get 70 mins, hoefully fit for Saturday. -
I'd love Clarky back, his movement and workrate would be the ideal foil for Higdon. Sadly as alluded to above, unless he fancies playing for free there's little chance of it happening. I'm surprised McCall hasn't looked to move a few of the fringe players on. Let's face Forbes & Page have barely got a look in this season and will more than likely be let go in the summer. Why not try and offload them now, they both need games they won't get here and they're taking up a wage for doing a job which if we're being honest could easily be done by one of the U'19s. Of course they might not want to leave but if they have any ambition then the lure of regular first team football elsewhere might tempt them. Or someone like Jamie Pollock, when was the last time he was even on the bench let alone getting a game? Getting rid of a few fringe players wouldn't free up the money for a David Clarkson but it might free up some money to help pay towards a contribution of a loan player's wage. We badly need another striker and quite frankly guys like Page, Forbes & Pollock are never going to get a game for McCall and aren't contributing much for the wages they're getting. Just an idea, though McCall seems to be fairly happy with his squad.
-
Ojamma, Murphy, Humphrey & Daley are all forwards. We don't need another forward, we need another striker. Just now we only have Higdon and McHugh but McCall seems reluctant to play him unless it's a lower league team. Sadly you can't get a good striker with no money left in the budget. So unless we lose someone we can't bring anyone else in.

Last twenty. He looked decent, showed a bit of urgency and desire to make things happen which was lacking in others. One or two good runs, one good pull back from the byline which was begging for a midfield runner to latch onto and stick it in the net. Looks to have plenty of potential. Maybe worth a start at home to Dunfermline if he gets a bit longer of the bench at Tannadice next week.

I love big Randolph, that fan can go fuck himself.

We were the better team in the first half and created two great chances. All Daley had to do was pick his spot from the edge of the box having got himself into a good positon but blazed wildly over. Then Murphy was in 1 on 1 with Esson and took too long before trying to round him and when he realised he'd made a mess of it he threw hiimself to the floor. Should have been booked. 2nd halff, just piss poor. ICT weren't great but This. Tade ain't a great player but he had a go and he scored. One goal was always going to be enough. McCall's tactics were baffiling. We had no right winger as Law was constantly wondering into traffic leaving Clancy having to do his best Cafu impression. Lasley and Hateley didn't work, although in fairness to Hateley he wasn't any worse than Lasley. Folk can slate Higdon all they want but until he gets a partner or some support he'll get no abuse from me. Today again he won countless header's and flick ons and there was no one fucking there. Then as everyone could see ICT getting on top and the goal coming and changes needed McCall waits until after they score to do anything. By this point ICT had the lead, were happy to sit back and soak up the pressure and leftt little space for Humphrey or Ojamaa. Why Daley went off when he was having a better game than Murphy I'll never know. At least Ojamaa showed a bit of urgency. Then came the coup de grace, bringing on a clearly unfit Jennings for the last 5 minutes. I mean come on to fuck, McHugh must have been scratching his head along with the rest of the stadium. McCall still has my support and I won't overeact by calling for his head etc. However if after this he seriously can't see it isn't working for home he'll quickly lose it. Another game like this against Dunfermline next week and I might cry. As for our support, I'm not suprised Randolph wanting to kick that twat's head in at the end. I heard some fucking shocking shouts today from some clueless fuckwits. Piss off you c***s.

I actually thought Omar Daley looked good today. Wee bit surprised to see him taken off as early.

It's going to be a tough game, we would have counted ourselves lucky to get a point at their place the fact we left with all three was robbery. Even the first game of the season, I know we played well and won 3-0 but they hit the post twice, Randolph pulled of a great one handed save & Richie blasted over the bar from about 12 yards out. Better finishing and a bit more luck and they could have stolen a point. We don't score many at home(lowest in the SPL with 7) but we don't conceed many either(4th best in the SPL only lost 9) so I imagine it will be another tight game won by the odd goal. Big four home games coming up, three in the league and one in the cup. Will have a big impact on the rest of our season. Hopefully we can steal the points again and give us a much needed boost in the league. Motherwell (Murphy) 1 - 0 ICT

Riordan can get to fuck. The worst kind of player, a talented waster. Has enough ability to be playing at a higher level and be a Scotland regular. Instead he's scrapping about at the age of 28 looking for a SPL club to take a punt on him. On talent alone it's a no brainer. Sadly that talent comes attached to a jakey wee baw bawbag. Wouldn't touch him, he's made enough money, would have no motivation to work and would disrupt the dressing room cause he's a twat.

McHugh's contract runs till the end of next season. Not sure about Smith.
-
Be good enough for a place in our team? Which our manager clearly feels they are not and given he sees them day in day out I'll trust his judgement. At Motherwell if your're a young player and good enough you'll get your chance. Hell plenty of young players who were not good enough for the first team still got their chance. Could someone please give me an example of player who 'never got their chance' at Motherwell and went on to have a successful career elsewhere?
-
Murphy. First was a belter of a strike. Took his second well enough, set up Lawless with a great chance, was unlucky not to get a hat-trick with a deflected shot wide of the post and was just generally involved in everything good going forward. Special mention to Clancy the 'Irish Cafu' who I thought had a decent enough game at wing back, especially good for winning some diagonal balls in the air. Daley took his goal well and was full of running. Wee Ojamaa as I said in the match thread looked good and the much maligned Humphrey had a good cameo and was involved in both goals late on. In saying that the space the forwards had to work with was ridiculous at times but fair play to Queens for having a go.
-
Never really got out of 2nd gear, got a few players rested and got through. Good day all round. Not a great performance but the differnece of quality in the final 3rd told. Queens deserved a goal fo their efforts I felt and the scoreline was a bit flattering. Another goal for Omar. Jamie's first was a belter. His third was a good move involving Ojamaa and great play from Humphrey to beat his man and pick out a pass and well finished by Jamie. More of the same in the SPL please Humph. As for wee Ojamaa I like the look of him already. A greedy wee shite at times but showed good feet, some good tricks and a wonderful pass over the top for Murphy with the outside of his boot. His goal was a cracker to round off a good cameo. Though there's obviously a step up from playing against a tiring lower league side to playing an SPL team but I like the look of him. Reminded me of Skippy a bit and although he looks raw he looks to have potential. One to keep an eye on. Can't complain key players rested, few cracking goasl and a wee confidence booster to boot as well as being in the next round of the cup. Hopefully we get Jennings, Hutch & Lasley back for next week and up our performance for the ICT game.
-
I agree about Sutton, he improved a lot in his second season.
-
Some people on here must have short memories, I remember Sutton got the exact same level of abuse Higdon got when he joined. He's slow, can't jump, can't win headers, lazy etc. were all levelled at him. I remember one thread not long after Gannon took over were folk were wanting rid. It was only really in his second season where he started to win the fans over. I would say give Higdon a chance but I think that ship has sailed.
-
That's how he went against Clyde, think he might go for the same again. Then hopefully if they both do well he might consider pairing them together in the league game against ICT the following week cause I think we're all a bit tired of Higdon being isolated up front by himself.
-
McCall said on MFC TV that Page, Forbes & McHugh will all come in, Ojamaa to be on the bench. Carswell and Jennings out but Jenno should be back for next week.
-
--------------------Randolph Hateley Page Hutchinson Hammell -------------Jennings Forbes -------- Murphy------------------- Law ------------Higdon------- McHugh I would go with something like this. We've a lot of games coming up in a short space of time and I don't think there's any real need to play Craigan & Lasley two players in their 30's in a game such as this one. Rest them for the matches to come. Would also give McHugh a chance up front as he never really got another chance after his goal against Aberdeen due to him picking up an unfortunate injury. Could also take off a few players after the hour and give a few more players a run out. Still confident, Motherwell 4 -0 Queens Park.
