He was never training with us so to speak, he was using our facilities gym etc.. during the summer but he has never actually trained with us. McCall said on sportsound when asked about it that he had never met McFadden and am sure he said that he was gone before we came back for pre season.

Fair enough, would love to see it, guess I'm just getting a bit cynical in my old age of 21...

I admire your positivity and was going to argue but I know it's not going to change your mind so all I will say is this... He's a legend for us, we love him, he loves the club and hopefully he will be back one day but there's not a hope in hell that he will be back anytime soon. Would love it to happen and wouldn't care how much of a tit I would look for saying all this but simply it just ain't going to happen.

Me or MJC? There's nothing wrong with hoping he comes back, just find it hard to understand folk discussing it as a geniune possibility. As I said he's probably hoping an EPL manager will take a chance on him, if not he will then find a championship club. Now you mention it champions league football could sway him.....
  6. I agree with these. I would love to see highlights of the game, not seen them in years..

I agree with MJC this talk of Faddy coming back is ludicrous. Yes I read the article last year where he definitely did say he would "like" to end his career at Motherwell, so if and it's a big if he does come back it will be at least another 5 odd years when he's 32/33 ish certainly not now when he's entering his prime. I would love hm to come back as he' still my all time favourtie Motherwell player and I would be straight down the club shop getting FADDY on my strip if he did ever comeback one day but that will be a day far into the future if it does(and hopefully it does) happen. He's 28, a 5 million pound Premiership player, with 20k plus a week wage demands with aspirations to get back in the Scotland squad. Yes he's unemployed but don't full yourelf that he's very short of options. He would walk into any championship team and many would want to have him, he's clearly holding out to see if a Premiership club will take a chance on him before commiting elsewhere. If they don't he will go to the championship before us, don't kid yourself on that one either. I would love to see him back at Fir Park but IF that day ever comes It WILL be in at least 4 or 5 years time not now, so can we please stop all this and re open this thread in about 4 years time when it might be more appropriate.
  8. I think 2 goals against Celtic and 1 against Rangers in roughly 12 odd games.
  9. Yeh Higdon does alot that seems to go unnoticed. Four of our best chances on Saturday came through Higdon, two he set up and two chances of his own and only a wonder save from Samson denied him a goal. Some fans(certainly some of the idiots sitting near me on Saturday) seem to think because he isn't scoring and doesn't run around like a headless chicken that he's guff and were shouting things like he should fuck off back to St.Mirren. He creates alot of chances for others and himself and I firmly believe when scores one he will go on to get a few more, his general play is very good but he gets stick because he won't charge around like an idiot chasing lost causes etc. which we knew wasn't his style. I like him and if anybody doubts his importance to the team the one time he didn't play this season is the only game we didn't score in and the only game we didn't win...
  10. -------------------------------Randolph Hateley---------Hutchinson--------Craigan------------Hammell ------------------------------Forbes------------- -----------------Jennings-----------Lasley---------- ---------Law--------------------------------------Murphy --------------------------------Higdon------------ I know Humphrey has his fans on here and I'm a big fan too but I wouldn't start him in this game. Goalie and defence picks itself. I would keep Forbes in as not only did he have a good game last week but I like having a solid midfield 3 in games against the old firm as I feel it gives us more saftey. We played three in midfield in the CIS cup semi and were terrific, we played a 442 against them at Fir Park towards the end of last season and were far too open and pumped 5 zip. These 3 were terrific in the win over Celtic and will need to produce a similar performance on Sunday if we want to get anything. Also the defence will have to produce another top class performance to keep out Jelavic who is a class player.... Nasimith and Davis also seem to love playing against us, glad that prick Laffertey isn't fit as he always seems to fucking score against us as well. Humphrey wasn't great on Saturday and looked like he was struggling with an injury, he barely touched the ball all match. He also seemed to struggle against Rangers last season. Out of him Law and Murphy he was the most droppable imo but also the most capable of making an impact from the bench. This system would rely on Law and Murphy obviously, taking turns to drop in the hole between the defence and midfield and running at the Rangers back line(which can be got at) and trying to link up with Higdon. Then if we are still in it with half an hour to go throw on Humphrey. Surely there can't be a worse sight after a midweek game and with them begining to tire seeing us throwing on an absolute flying machine. Get in about them from the start, don't stand off them and let them play which we have been guilty of in their last few visits to Fir Park. Try and keep a decent tempo, don't gift the ball back to them at every oppurtunity and take your chances!! All things we failed to do against them last season. Do these things and we can get something from this.....Easier said than done right enough.
  11. Seems longer than 9 years ago.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huSXi99g2HY But I remember it well. What a game from Dubourdeau. Faddy.
  12. Limited our oppenents to next to no chances, cretaed all the best chances, forced their keeper into 5 good saves and coming home with a clean sheet and a win..... Works for me. Given the run around  How they created FUCK ALL!!!!!!!!!! They had lots of the ball and done nothing we had the ball and created chances. How on earth did they give us the run around. That is one of the biggest pieces of shite I've ever had the misfortune to read on here. When they put three past us in the Scottish cup the day Charlie Adam tore us a new one they gave us the run around. When they papped us out the CIS cup there 3-0 a few years ago they gave us the run around. Yesterday they did not, far from it. Humphrey was poor for most of this season not just today, Murphy wasn't at his best I agree at wide left but he had to do that job for the team. Which he did effictively as he stopped their full back from getting forward and causing us problems, he stuck to his task well and selflessly for the good of the team. Or maybe the fact we hadn't won an away game since I think we beat Aberdeen about Feburary is the reason for the change of tactics away from home? You couldn't have helped but notice away to Killie we were alot less open than we were against ICT at home. However you are clearly right, lets go away from home play 442 and get more pumpings like we did from Killie, ICT and Dundee United last season.... Second thoughts no thanks, I'll take being a wee bit more cautious if it means more results like today and less gubbings thank you very much. Oh and just a thought, if he wanted to go 442 and didn't trust Forbes to be able to do that why not play Carswell or move Hateley in there. Or is that just a "lack of faith"? And that's the crux of it, you think Saints are pish and we are what? So good we should stroll up and put 3 or 4 past them? We aren't a million miles away from them and we don't have the devine right to beat anyone. The numerous pumping's they have given us down their way over the last few years proves this. Get a grip.
  13. People having a go at McCall's tactics need to have a look at St.Mirren's first half performance at Tannadice last week before Hasslebaink was sent off, they tore United apart and could and probably would have done the same to us today if we had gone with an open 442 with Jennings and Forbes in the middle. They would have had 3 CM's and would have swamped Jennings and Forbes and thus rendering Murphy and Law useless as we would struggle to get the ball to them as Saints would have dominated possesion. We droppped Law in the their and went 433 to match up to them. For all this talk of them dominating us....pish. We sat back and were happy to let them play the ball in front of us and let them try and break us down which they couldn't as they struggled to create a clear cut chance all match and Randy could have been sitting next to me for all he had to do. We on the other hand even though some people thought we were poor still created all the best chances and forced Samson into 4 or 5 good saves and one in particular from Higdon was a fantastic save. We were by no means brilliant but all this guff about Saints good football and dominating us is rubbish, it's about creating chances and taking them and only one team looked like doing that. Yes a times it was a bit gritty but we're not world beaters, people seem to expect us to try and win every game like the ICT match going full out attack and winning 3-0.... but if people remember ICT created 4 or 5 good chances that day due to our expansive game and we can't afford to play like that all the time especially away from home were we can be exposed and it could cost us. I thought we were good today, not great but the tactics IMO were correct and the end justified the means. We tried to play football without over commiting and created several great scoring opportunities which St.Mirren did not. Higdon wasn't great but he did create a good chance for Murphy and for himself. He also won several flick ons but not one midfielder went past him to get on the end of it bar once when Murphy did and nearly scored. Murph was decent first half quiet second. Law was decent as was Hutch. Humphrey must have had the fewest touches I've ever seen him have in game, looks lacking in confidence and Jenno wasn't at his best. Forbes had a really good game but Craggs was MOTM for me, brilliant at the back and led the team through a few tricky spells. Special mention to Hateley as his free kick was a peach. All in all another win, another clean sheet, still top of the league.... dunno why folk are complaining, enjoy it it doesn't happen very often.
  14. Sorry but you're talking pish. We let Saints have the ball and sat off them to let them try and break us down, which they didn't as they didn't create one decent chance all match. We on the the other hand created all the chances and forced Samson into 5 good saves despite and I quote you that "our midfield was horrible". Forbes and Law both had good games. It's not a lack of faith, he chose to play Forbes as he was the best option available to him. As for the formation I think it was used to counter the fact that Saints had 3 central midfield players. We went like for like. As for the tactics they weren't pretty but they worked and as posted above using the players available for you to the best of their abilities is good management and shock horror it worked as we won.
  15. The much maligned Forbes put in a great performance and showed what he's capable of despite some people's opinions on here. I know he needs to do it more consistently but he won't get the chance as he will most likely be dropped for Lasley next week which will no doubt dent his confidence. Then again McCall might play a midfield three against Rangers next week... MOTM for me just edging Forbes was Craigan, outstanding today led by example. Retiring from International football might be the best thing for him cause he's started this season in fantastic form and long may it continue.
  16. That's terrible news, could be out for at least 4-5 months. Hopefully he gets back sooner than expected.
  17. The original thread title might have been apt. Apparently he went to control the ball with nobody near him and his knee just buckled. Could be a pretty bad one, did an Accies player not do something similar a last season and was out for months? Hopefuly it's not as serious as first feared for his sake and ours.
  18. Really don't understand why people are wanting to tamper with the team and move Law and Murphy. Law has been outstanding so far this season and plays well down the left why switch him to the middle? That means sticking Murphy wide left where he is largely wasted, surely the way he has started this season as a striker folk would be desperate to keep him up top. He wasn't great against Killie but both times he's played with Higdon he's scored, we've won and may I also add Law set up both Murphy's goals from wide where he should stay in my opinion. For me I'm not one of Forbes major critics and feel he deserves a run in the team I can't help but feel a midfield of Him and Jennings would be a bit immobile. For me I would keep things as is stick young Carswell in(I've only seen him play once at Tyncastle and he didn't put a foot wrong and he's more mobile than Forbes) and Hutch if fit but apart from that keep as is. Don't mess with a winning formula unless necessary.
  19. Looks like Mr T.Rialist that was scoring in those bounce games was going to be McCall's answer to our lack of striking options. Oh well back to square one.
  20. What becuase we weren't willing to spunk silly money on a slightly above average player who probably wouldn't get in our first team at present. Much like losing Sutton to Hearts the club is doing the right thing by not throwing money at these decent enough players who in all honesty are replaceable. The days of us giving high wages to average players is over after what happened the last time. Gunning was decent but nothing special and not worth trying to compete for, let United have him.
  21. It was just a suggestion... I would just like to see us go for a striker with a bit more experience. At the minute we have a very young strikeforce with only Higdon being the only one over 22. We already have young strikers like McHugh and Smith and I don't think necessarily think signing another young striker from an English team would help. Sure we have been fortunate the last few seasons to land Jutkiewicz and Blackman but we have also had the likes of Lewis Grabban, Semih Aydilek in recent times who failed to make an impact and looking further back we had shite like Andy Smith, Neil Tarrant and Steven Ferguson. I think although we have had success in recent years in this market it can be hit and miss and with the young inexperienced strikers we already have I would like to see someone with a bit more experience, maybe a hardened league 1 type striker who could put himself about a bit and chip in with 10 or so goals a season. Essentially someone in a John Sutton mould as although I like Higdon and think he will really be a good signing for us he really is a different player to Sutton. Also not to forget we've lost the experience of Franny Jeffers from last season. Then again if we were to find another Jutkiewicz type I obviously wouldn't complain.
  22. I know he's one of those players mentioned almost every transfer window but could we be one of the clubs in Scotland looking at him? Looking at other teams in Scotland who could be in for him the only other ones I can think of would be Hibs and Dundee United. No real link but we are in need of another striker onboard. Will we go down the route of this sort of player or look for another loanee from a Premiership club?
  23. Fuck sake, he said he was leaving, he didn't, he rightly got a bit of stick for it now can we please move on.
  24. Said shortly before your team bottled a 3 goal lead at home to us overachievers last season.
