  1. Purely speculating based on how I’d play it if I were a football club with a rep for being tight as fuck when negotiating with other Scottish clubs. “I know we agreed this last time, but times are hard so how about we give you a bit less now and a bit more later? And if you don’t fancy it, well, we’ll use every trick in the book to influence the media and the agent to get what we want.” Like you say though, none of us know the clauses in the contract but I imagine the price has been set since last year and it would just be a case of agreeing when said amount would be paid.
  2. I’m talking about the reported £2.75m + add ons compared to the £3m + add ons of last time round. I can’t see anything other than the vast bulk of the money being up front.
  3. I could see why we would potentially lower the fee/add instalments given current economic climate and knee fiasco, but a sell-on should be a non-negotiable term. No reason to suspect this won't be the case given our recent transfer dealings.
  4. Nope. Was just going to point out that this is speculation (from Celtic’s side as was pointed out earlier) and to start banging on about neglecting the youth system, releasing players from their contract or not considering our club’s fan’s needs is just a tad premature.
  5. I could be talking utter rubbish here, but I’m sure there was a rule change in the last year or two that allowed players to play for more than one club in Europe in a season. Edit - comes into effect for the rounds after Christmas to allow January transfers to be registered for their new team, wouldn’t be applicable just now.
  6. I wonder if the club will be as publicly transparent when the seemingly imminent bid comes in. I'd also be a bit annoyed if he didn't play on Thursday because Celtic had asked us not to. If he was in negotiations or under offer etc fair enough, but if we put at risk our chances to progress just because Celtic fancied a punt in a few weeks that is different.
  7. I know it's been pretty much odds on to happen for the next year, but I still feel a little sick whenever this surfaces in the rags and I need to imagine DT playing against us for them.
  8. Lasley would fail with these players, so let’s get someone else in to fail first?
  9. The point I was making was that none of that actually matters a jot at this moment in time. Appreciate what you’re saying about luck being on our side though, I doubt any of us would be having this discussion to quite the same lengths if we’d had any sort of comparable luck in the five games this season.
  10. Have it to Turnbull as he was the one looking most likely to make something happen. Campbell was his usual Campbelly self, but wasn’t quite as effective as he has been in recent weeks.
  11. I understand why people are looking at our form since the beginning of 2020, as it hasn’t been great, but I think that’s as relevant as taking into account the cup successes of prior seasons. All that really matters is the five games we have played of this season. We have not played poorly in these games. Predictable, reluctant to change tactically, lacking in urgency when attacking and losing concentration when defending? Yes. But those things can - and should - be fixed. I stand by my feeling that we’ll come good eventually - I’d be far more concerned if we were sitting on 2 points after 5 games had we been playing poorly, but that hasn’t been the case.
  12. I’d love to see Campbell grow into this role.
  13. I thought Hastie had been sussed before he left for Rangers and so was not thrilled about him coming back from a purely footballing point of view. That aside, we certainly should have enough fire power at the top end between Long, Lang, Watt, White, Seedorf & Hylton. I know there are many critics of them on these boards, but they are all decent players in their own right that should be doing better than they currently are. Be it confidence, effort, urgency or something else that is stopping us from performing and scoring goals, I still think we’ll come good eventually.
  14. We’re not playing bad. We’re dominating games. Questions need to be asked just as much of the forwards as they do of the manager.
  15. Accies are sitting so deep. Think the break will come through grinding them down, getting a cutting edge against a team playing so compact is easier said than done.
  16. The ref is killing this with the amount of soft fouls he keeps pulling up.
  17. Commentary is a bit off, sounds like someone needs to give the mic cable a wee shoogle.
  18. What’s the deal with Premier Sports anyway? Can you pay for one-off games or is there a minimum term?
  19. Had initially thought we’d go with an unchanged lineup, but have a sneaky suspicion Watt may start over White. We may need our better footballers on the park to counteract the icki-accie style football that we’re all accustomed to.
  20. Just posted in the former player thread wigg thy out realising this had been revitalised, but I’d definitely prefer an incremental upgrade of Fir Park to a new ground entirely.
  21. 100%. I hate the banality of new stadia. I’d be in support of redeveloping Fir Park on a stand by stand basis, as we certainly have the capacity to function with any 3 from 4 stands open at any time. I think a bit of coherence between the stands would be good as opposed to the current mish-mash (as full of character as that is), and it would also be good to look at redeveloping some of the surrounding land (behind south stand, astros behind east) into some sort of ‘fan zone’ that would massively contribute to match day experience. It would also be a crying shame to have to leave the Cooper, O’Donnell and Hunter stands behind.
  22. There was a similar discussion on P&B on the accruing of prize money. Glentoran have pocketed close to half a million for beating a Faroe team, as the money is paid per round appearance and not just whatever round you get to.
  23. Incorrect. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51639077
  24. Danish international Casper Sloth signs for non-league Notts County.
