  1. ive answered.........

what do i believe? or what would i be happy with? i think you may get some folk struggling on the wording!!

again for the support.........how do i support the team?? or how do i believe the team should be supported?

  2. "heavy hands, empty stands" - i liked the banner!!! and certainly apt here, maybe an idea to enclose a photo of the "United fans" with this banner!!

how about sending Mark B a message on twitter - get his contact details, or send something into the Real Radio phone in - try and raise the profile. Maybe even asking some of the Motherwell players to retweet a message as no doubt they are followed by the media

and show us some of your pictures!!

i have to say though, the steward I dealt with outside the ground, could not have been more helpful!!!!

  3. I dont even think he should have been on his weaker foot though, a better striker would have collected the ball, turned quickly and slotted it past the keeper on his strong side. Higdon took an absolute eternity after his first touch before he even moved and was forced to shoot on his left side because the defender got back goal side. He was lucky the goalie made a hash of it or he would have (and should have) got dogs abuse from his team mates for wasting such a good chance.

Bop - come on. maybe he should have got it on to his stronger side, and maybe it would have allowed him more of the goal to aim at - but who cares! He scored!

Can you not even say - "what a great first touch he took, the GK has just skelped the ball and he has stopped it dead" - how many other players would not have had the chance, as their control woul;d have let them down

stop scrutising the big man and back him

if he was really really really that good - he wouldn't be at Motherwell

  4. Missed the game on Saturday myself, but the Aberdeen game aside I wasn't really impressed with Clancy thus far. Would have no problems putting Hutchinson straight back in at his expense.

    think thats quite harsh Joe!!

Clancy played well - no one in our team is immune to mistakes. Craggs played well on Saturday too........Craigan plays well when he doesnt have to think about it, and when he doesn't have time on the ball - we'll call him a no nonense centre half. Clancy is similar to him, although he is a little more composed on the ball.

I do agree that Saunders and Hutchy are the future - but both make their fair share of mistakes too. It's a difficult one, but thats why McCall is the manager and we aren't!!

  5. I feel his play is better with Jennings playing along side him everyweek. Las has freedom to roam and Jenno will cover the hole. Think his goal spree is giving him the belief to have a pop at goal himself this season rather than assisting others.

down side to that is that Jenno will get the abuse for doing the donkey work!! it happened the other week, when Jenno got the ball deep, and decided to push forward with it - he ended up at the opposing 18 yard box, Aberdeen / Hibs, hit us on the break and we were nearly punished - be cause he was not "in the hole"

Both played well on saturday. Jenno misplaced a pass in the first and last minute, but for the other 88mins - he was outstanding (just like everyone else in the team)

  6. as it says on the tin and do we have to change our formation to suit him? should we?

me personally, I'm really not sure although I have become a little frustrated with his recent performances.

i think his style of play suits a 433 (mcghee style) - he likes to drop off, get the ball and run at defenders. but by still adapting this style of play when we play 4411 then it leaves Higdon isolated and renders us pretty useless in attack

some are calling for him to be dropped or are calling for a partnership of Higdon/McHugh and I can see the benefits there, but it also screams out lack of creativity. Putting more onus on Law and Humphrey.

Higdon isn't going to be a success with us if he plays up top on his own (much like Sutty was not going to be a success as a left midfielder under Paw Broon) and we are not going to get the money we want for Murphy if he is continually plays like he is just now. he undoubtedly has talent - we're just not seeing the best of it just now

what do we change? should we change? Afterall, we are still 3rd in the league!!!!!!!

  7. re the Stephen Craigan incident someone referred to...........this is how i seen it

murphy subbed - some fans took exception, booed and abused

craigan over heard this, looked to the stand and told them by use of his hands to calm down

mchugh then scores and craigan loses it and celebrates hysterically (love it when he does that!) in the direction of said boos/abuse

game finishes and craigan goes "to have a chat" with afore mentioned "fans"

now i have no idea what he said, but im guessing it was along the lines of calm down and support the team, you want to win, we want to win

and they weren't wee guys - im guessing early 40s

  8. For those of you have seen the kids coming through, do Halsman, Pollock, Smith and Lawless have the potential to making it at SPL level? In recent years, boys of their age at Motherwell tend to be well on the way to making an impression by now.

to me, thats the concerning bit. We have always sold our club that we will give youngsters a chance, and to an extent, you can say we have.........Hutchy, Saunders, Murphy(although he cant be classed as a youngster any more)

what must the other guys be thinking? could this have a detrimental affect in the future?

eg : Motherwell/Hibs/Hearts chase a youngster, they two can offer more money than we can - in the past players may well say, "I aint going to get my chance there, i'll take the Motherwell contract on lesser terms as I will get the chance to showcase my ability, and in turn can earn more money down the line"

My concern is that if we dont give the guys a chance, we are shooting oursleves in the foot. We dont have a lot of money, these guys are the future.

What is Bob McHugh's contract situation???? Surely, if he doesn't get game time this season - he will want to walk. I thought going to PTFC last season wouldve been ideal for him - but red tape and injury totally scuppered that. Did he actually ever appear for us after that?!?

  9. time for a change...................boo boys out!!! Higdon haters out!!!

i agree though, I would like to see Carswell getting a chance. For Forbes to play, and play well, we need to change the shape of the team and play 3 men in the middle of the park - is that wise?

  10. We dont become a pants team over night.

generally i'd agree with you.............but we dont play 3 games in a day

11 goals against and none for is quite alarming, even in the games we've won, we've still made plenty of mistakes, its just that the teams we played weren't good enough or were unlucky not to take their chances.

IF we win tonight, then I agree, maybe be slightly forgotten - but i still feel the team need a kick up the backside and some of the fringe players need to be given a chance

  11. can understand why he will go with the same team, but i am a little dissapointed that others are not given a chance............he made wholesale changes for the Clyde game.........but this game is against an SPL team, so we do need a little more experience. I am beginning to feel a little sorry for Forbes and Carswell - both have come in and done well but are out the team as soon as Las and Jenno are available. Problem is - that area is the spine of the team and those two do a very good job (albeit not in the last few weeks!)

if you are in a MJC mood............then for us to lose tonight and on saturday, a fiver will get you £75!!!!!!

  12. not much more i can say that hasnt been said re our last few performances and how changes need to be made

    team to play hibs :

    Randy

    Clancy Page Craggs Hammell

    Carswell Hately Forbes

    Daley Murphy/Law

    Higdon

Lasley / jennings both out - HIbs may be dire just now, but they will out fight us in the middle of the park with Rankin and Osbourne (it may be harsh dropping these two, but others deserve a chance if they aint performing. I also think these two have it in them to come back stronger and prove a point after their kick up the back side)

Defence - we need to players to play in their natural position, O'Connor and Griffiths may be high on everyones list for dogs abuse - but they aint no mugs and can easily bully our light weight defence

Whoever plays in midfield or in a wide position MUST MUST MUST start to offer some assistance to Higdon - get close to him, play to his strenghts and STOP lumping 60 yards passes on to him. Get the ball to his feet or his chest, or get it out wide and fire balls into the box. Stop trying to over work it like Arsenal

    C'mon the well!!!

  13. Regarding the 2 different flags, you can't compare someone bringing a flag to every single Motherwell game home and away regardless of the opposition, which has no other conceivable connotation other than to show support to an extremely popular player from that country,

I cant be arsed reading 15 pages of this, especially after we got beat! But why do we not fly this in support of Stephen Craigan??? Our magnificent captain, who has been a loyal servant to the club, most capped player and probably involved in more (motherwell related) semi final and finals than any other player

    Ulster Craggs!!!

    images.jpg

And if it winds those mhanky bastards up - BONUS!!!!! If I despise Celtic, and most of what they stand for - does that make me a bigot? Or does that just mean i hate Celtic fans?

  14. Goals of the Season DVD

    "MFC TV" subscription

    Membership card

Oh my god, where do I sign up????

Albi - its not often I agree with you! but i do on this case. Someone else mentioned, plan away - but I'd rather just turn up on a saturday and watch the football - I'm with that one too.

£50 every year..........going on SPL prices, thats 2 away games where I could watch my team. I'd rather go to those games that get a membership card and a DVD

Dave - you mentioned Andrew Wilson made a nice touch about the young uns trying to improve the atmosphere at Fir Park and yes its nice to be noticed and acknowledged but...............will any directors or senior mgt be sitting in the away end on Saturday to see how the fans are treated at that Sh1tehole?? no, probably not, probably enjoying a nice meal and some drinks in the plush seats (free of charge with a good view)

    800 @ killie, 1000 @ st midden, 900 @ dunfermline, 100 @ Parkhead....................I wonder why.

Yes, its important we have a club to support in the future, but these issues are important now and have been for many past years. but I havent seen the club do anything to support any fans. If they want our money, its time to start treating the "customers" a little bit better

  15. A player so good Kilmarnock don't even want him.

    Awesome.

i think thats a bit harsh!!! Kilmarnock have spent a fortune on wages this season, and alot of it on their defence. they certainly looked like no mugs when we played them earlier in the season. (hard, fair, strong, composed)

SPL experience, wont break the bank - should be able to provide us with much needed cover. I dont think he will oust anyone from the starting 11 though.

There have been plenty of players at our club that come into the "A player so good ********* don't even want him" category and they have flourished - give him a chance

    "

  16. People are going on about Higdon getting game time so that he can maybe get a goal and improve his confidence..............does Humphrey not deserve the same chance??

The guy seems to divide the fans..........you love him or you hate him. Yes he didnt perform against Rangers, (and at one point I thought Craigan was going to rip his head off!!) but several players didnt perform.

At the Midden - he was posted missing, and at Killie, he tripped over the ball too many times!!!

The killie left back that day was a speed demon......I think the Hump knew this after the first time he took him on and that was why he was reluctant to keep trying. You cant just be a one trick pony.........you need to alter what you do or how you attack a full back.

As someone mentioned earlier.........what is a good ball into the box??? if there is no one in there, taking a chance or going to attack the ball - thats not HIS fault!! How many corners or free kicks does Tom Hately fail to beat the first man or sky over the bar or even on sunday taking a corner and he puts it out the park? Why is no one criticising him?

Higdon - what do we want from him? He isnt Kenny Miller - he isnt going to run around all day and run the channels, we need balls to his feet and his chest - not a 50 yard lump up the park. We need to learn to play off him. Midfielders need to take a gamble and go beyond him if he is going to flick it on - that never happened against St MIrren or Rangers - no one gambled and makes him look as if he is crap. Against Rangers, in the 2nd half, we went 442..........but Murphy never played close to him, ALWAYS dropped deep, never went beyond him??? Why??

We're Motherwell - not Barcelona. We WILL make mistakes, but for god sake support the team and stop lambasting players

  17.

    We'll see.

In fact i'm that confident that i'd be willing to bet Higdon won't score more spl goals than Sutton.

thats not really a fair bet - most players will score more goals with Hearts then they would with Motherwell........better players blah blah blah

anyway, when we had the Higdon / Sutton debate, i was firmly in the Sutton camp........he IS/WAS a better player, and to all those who said, he's far more mobile..............you want to change your tune now?!

but Higdon is our player - and we need to support him. The PLAYERS on the park need to support him. If we are going to throw balls up to him, Murphy, Law, Humphrey need to go beyond him or get close to him. That hasn't happened.

How many good crosses have we put into the box for him? Has the service to him been good?

For the past few seasons, we have been moaning that we try to pass the ball into the net like Barca and Arsenal - everyone is scared to shoot. This is one guy, who if he gets half a chance will try and pull the trigger. And we still moan....................

  18. cant agree more Al

anyone with a football brain should know that...........but unfortunately there are too many numpties in the motherwell support

as one of my mates pointed out today, there was a guy behind us who must have been extremely high up and talented within the SFA coaching staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at no point today did any of our 5 midfielders get beyond Higdon - therefore everytime he flicked the ball on, we lost possession ( thats not his fault!!!!)
