  1. I would bite there hand off tbh

if a £250k bid came in for Porter I'd be very interested in MM's reaction, as I said in an earlier post if Ports was funded from Boyle's pocket then MM isn't sure to get this money both fee and wages to then boost the squad. It may be better to hold on to him till the summer as it would only be Boyle out of pocket if he went for nowt!

  2. Heard a few rumours tonight ....

Porter to sign pre-contract with Wolves

Hughes to sign pre-contract with Nott Forest

As usual treat these with pinch of salt.. but if they are true we could have big problems as these guys will not want to risk injury before they move and we won't get cash for them. Also if stories are true that Boyle covered these contracts outwith the budget MM won't get all the salary back into the budget.

If they are to sign pre-contracts I would really like to see us get pre-contracts in place with Black & Cowie from ICT.

Bump Klimp and use his salary to get a decent centre-half in for rest of season.

  3. I think it is a very big IF to say a fully fit squad as I can't see Craggs or Clarky being available.

But I'll ask santa to give us a fit squad and I'd pick

    Smith

    Quinn - Craggs - Reynolds - Hammy

    Malcolm

    Lasley - Hughes - Fizzy

    Clarky - Porter

Having watched the highlights of ICTvDons from the weekend I think they might come and shut up shop and play 1 up front, they will hope to keep it tight get the fans on the home team's back and sneak a goal. With the time I would pick we need to get Quin and Hammy push up wide as much as possible.

  4. Agree with some of the sentiments...

however for me the players also have a massive part to play if the showed fight, heart, pride, passion then the fans would back them, sadly all of these have been missing from our team on too consisitent a basis recently

you have to remember that these guys are well paid professional footballers and have to learn to take criticism. they are not a youth team that need encouragement all the time, they need to get stuck in and get on with it!

  5. Thought the young boy did well last night for his first game. He showed a willing to get forward in first half but felt he got nervous in second half and wanted to pass inside too often.

To me it was obvious he hadn't played with Kimpl before as in the first half he got dragged in a lot and seemed unable to communicate, but that will come through time. Don't think our shape helped him as there was no real right mid in front of him so when he went forward there was no cover.

For me I still see Quinn as the first choice RB for this season at least. The young boy is only 17 and needs time but is a very good prospect - more good work from the youth system!

  6. So who would you play up front? Our strikers had enough clear cut, even must score chances to hammer Killie last night.

Hughes should be no where near the First Team on current form.

Having watched the game back again I noticed a few things....

Our short passing is good to a point, we have now width in the team we try to play everything either long ball back to front or tight into feet. Thinking back to last season when we played a front 3 we always had width and players inter-changing. Look at Porter's shot last night where he cut in from the right and shot left foot that forced a good save from Combe.. My point is with Sutton and Porter up front Ports cannot move about as much as Sutton is not comfortable wide he cannot cross. I think Sutton's confidence has gone, he did well when he came in as he got goals but without them he struggles. Not sure I have the solution but if Clarkson is not fit for Sat I would play a front 3 with Porter, Murphy and either DL Smith or McHugh. That way we get back to a 3 that can all inter-change and send in a decent ball if out wide.

As for Hughes, while I agree that he was nowhere near a MOTM I still think he has the ability to link the play through midfield better than anyone else we have, if he wasn't there we would be even more back to front!

  7. not really a rumour, McGhee was on the radio before the game explaining what happened!

Maybe you could expand / share - not all of us have the chance to hear the radio on way to the game.

    What is the explanation?

  8. Rumour last night was a hand injury picked up in training and could miss 2 - 3 weeks.

Anybody any word on the inury as not seen any mention in press. Any chance we strap him up and get him on park against Accies as we really need his effort up front.

  9. Whoring for every job that has come up....

Scotland - I would tell Motherwell goodbye, although I may not have cost me the job by demanding a full season at Fir Park and I'm a Motherwell fan

    Hibernian - No word

    Hearts - Rejected the job

    Sunderland - No word

    Newcastle - No word

    West Ham - No word

    Watford - No Word

There are many more jobs that have come up in the last 15-18 months. Please tell me which ones he whored himself to?

Forgive me for having an opinion! I hadn't realised the role of a mod was to defend the manager full stop.

Every man and his dog knows that in almost every interview McGhee gives he mentions how he has ambitions to manage at a higher level. I can take that from players but this guy was out of football for some time before we gave him a chance. IMO his attitude towards M/Well as a club stinks. But then it is only IMO!

  10. Football is a results driven business it doesn't matter

what you have done in the past or what you say you will do in the future its the here

and now that count .On current form McGhee is under pressure for the first time at Firpark.

And he has brought a lot of that pressure on himself. How many fans would be willing to back him for longer if he hadn't been tarting himself about for every job that comes up. One good season doesn't make you a good manager. It's how you deal with a poor one and right now he isn't dealing with it at all!

  11. Personally I will judge MM on his january activity. We need players - and have done for ages now - more injuries will come.

There wont be a lot of money available (which isnt surprising what with boyles stake in zoom costing him a fortune) and we cant affort a ross mccormack (million pound player)

Sorry but personally I wouldn't trust him wit any money that we may have come Jan. He ain't interested!!

And from what I remember McCormack never cost us £1m nor anyone else for that! If a manager tries hard enough good players can be found.

    McGhee OUT!

  12. Why do you always need to besarcastic when people post their opinion?

We will be better because to me his heart isn't in it at the moment. If a another manager came he would come in and see that the players are not pulling their weight. The new manager would boot arses and make changes, something mcGhee will not do.

Agree 100% we need a manager to come in and kick some serious ass.

How do we expect the players to try when the manager is already making excuses about the lack of signings come Jan

  13. Now that it looks like another Euro jaunt is out of the question then these guys will be working their ticket and we really will be in deep shit.

Surely if they were working their ticket we would get a better performance out of them!!!

  14. There wasn't a single positive to take out of that tonight.

Young boy did ok but wasn't what I would call positive.. Kimpl made far too many mistakes how many times did he go to challenge and be nowhere near the ball.

Serious questions have to be asked as to what is going on at training - there is no shape to the team at all. We played 4 in midfield yet had no width!!! A blind man can see that Porter and Sutton can't play together.

    McGhee OUT!!!

  15. Heard interview on Clyde at lunchtime with McGhee talking of his interest in Charlie Adam. He said he was the type of player we needed and would do all he could to get him in, he did also mention that his wages may be above our scale.

    Any views??

Gers fans at work do not rate Adam apart from the odd set piece - could we afford to carry Adam and Boab in the hope we get a free kick?

Also on the story in today's Sun re goalie Cammy Bell from Kilmarnock. Seems to be getting good reviews on loan at QoS and his deal is up in the summer. I would defo prefer a young keeper on a perm deal as back up to Buzz rather than an un-tried loan guy only here for short term.

  16. Pat Clarke it was

Heres the thread on P&B - clicky

Out of all the players in the lower leagues, what about Liam Buchanan? I remember he used to bang the goals in for Cowdenbeath and has carried that on since joining the jags. The players that have joined Dundee Utd, Caley and Killie have done well since making the step up.

I'm sure I read somewhere on P&B a jags fan suggesting that the boy Buchanan was on his way to us come January. If Ports was going what about the big lad Caroll from Newcastle on loan - were we not linked with hime before also.

Thinking again about a right back, Celtic look heavy with Hinkel, Wilson & Caddis. I know Wilson has been playing at left back, but maybe if they sign a left footer (no pun meant!!) we could get a hold of Caddis on loan??

  17. aye that was mcpake that signed with coventry.he wouldve been a good signing for us but dave mckay would be nothing more than a squad player

Given the recent form of Quinn I'm tempted to think that a squad player would be an improvement.

  18. Granted we may have little money available - or even none if we do get fined for the Hearts game being off!!

But who do you think we should try and make a move for?

Who could be a realistic target?

For me - I'd like to see us try and get Black from ICT either in Jan or on a pre-contract for te summer. What about a possible loan move for Pearo?? I know this may not be totally popular but I think his box to box play could be an asset to us at the moment. I think we need a right back, but none come to mind at the moment.
