  1. Davie Hay left not long after the 81-82 season finished,he didnt have anything to do with dismantling the squad that was all Mr Wallaces own work.
  2. Would you like to highlight for me exactly were i said i hated anyone?I merely stated 'where Kenny Black came from and when and how long he was here and where he buggered off too at the 1st opportunity after relegation.
  3. With the news that Kenny Black could be Mccalls assistant, got me thinking about Jock Wallaces season in charge at Fir Park, dont know how many are old enough to remember, but me,i have never been able to forgive the guy for totally dismantling the 81-82 record breaking promotion winning squad, when he took over, letting Willie Irvine leave for Hibs where he ended being top scorer in scotland iirc, not giving that squad a chance and bringing in a bunch of has beens to replace them like Alex Forsyth and Johannes Edvaldsson, playing Steve Mclleland as a centre forward when had been one of the best defenders we had, then to top it off once he had finished ruining the squad he pissed off to return to Ibrox at the end of the season.i had better not be the only one who remembers this or im off to put my name down for the next vacancy at the old folks home.
  4. Aye ex-Well player, arrived half way through 83-84 season from Rangers in a swap deal with Derek Lyall for Nicky Walker, then buggered of to tynecastle at the end of the season when we got relegated,so was here for less than half a season.
  5. Its not that the players are coming from abroad thats the concern, its more with 2 weeks to go in the January window,we decide to bring in trialists at all,it shows we are not in a position to get proven players in,think we can all agree killie have made some good foreign signings but how many of killies signings were trialists in january?all but 3 were brought in over the summer. The january window is all about getting the players in to the cub that you have identified beforehand, with Brown leaving when he did and having to get Mccall in mid season, our new manager finds himself in a position of losing 4 players and not being able to afford to replace them like for like, and running out of time to do so.In my book that equals desperation although in no way the managers fault.
  6. Have to agree it does sound desperate, bringing trialists in from abroad is what you do over the close season so you have a good couple of weeks or more to have a look at them, not in the january transfer window,it shows that we dont have the cash to compete for any players that Mccall knows might be available from England, once again Brown leaving is having an adverse effect on our season,Mccall coming in now means he doesnt have the luxury of time, like he would have had if he had arrived in close season
  7. So,three players lost so far from an already wafer thin squad and Mccall complaining about the number of dead ends hes had in trying to get players in and also saying that premiership clubs want a loan fee to lend us a player, doesnt say much for his contacts, given we have had premiership players on loan in the last two seasons, and doubt we payed any loan fee for them.Where do we go from here, at this rate we would be lucky to get a player in from the juniors.Might be early days but it is getting slightly worrying.
  8. Mccall speaking to stv says we lost out on a player who went on to join Fleetwood Town for £50k,looked it up striker George Donnelly joined Fleetwood from Plymouth for £50k,also says that he hopes to find out on wednesday wether Fitzpatrick is staying, seems the player is talking to another club.
  9. Sounds ok but there is one plain and simple reason that any league reconstruction that means teams only playing each other twice a season will never be voted for,the tv companies would never stand for losing two old firm games a season.Sad but true.....
  10. Looks like Blackman wont be back according to todays Record he is deciding today either to follow Brown to Aberdeen or go to the championship on loan.
  11. Never mind not knowing who the hell you are ,or not recognising any of your family or friends or even walking aboot the street in the scud,in years to come scientists and doctors will use C.B.s decision to head up north as the absolute definition of senility
  12. Don't see any comment from the ref who is due to officiate at our game saying this, the Israeli ref that made this comment was a Mr Eli Hacman the guy that did the Killie v Aberdeen game, ours is Meir Levy he did the Hamilton v St.mirren game.
  13. New ref for Sunday is Meir Levy from Israel watch out for his perfomance today hes the ref at the Hamilton game.
  14. Nope not gonna be him, just heard on stv news that the 2 portugese refs landed in Scotland then flew straight back home.Whit next?
  15. Fixed that.....If we had a decent forward thinking left sided midfielder for Hammell to play with we would get 30% or 40% more out of him.
  16. Seen that Stephen Craigan has pulled out of the N.I. squad with a groin injury picked up at Easter Road.
  17. Now you have broadened things from casuals to football hooligans,i said casuals did not cause the clamp down on standing at games, casuals are only an element amongst football hooligans, not all football hooligans are casuals.Any every day fan given certain circumstances can be involved in behaviour that would be labelled as football hooliganism. The best example i can think of is v Hibs at Easter Road after the game heading back to the supporters buses over that narrow bridge with the Hibs fans at your back you had 2 choices defend yourself or take a lethering.Through no fault of your own you were involved in football hooliganism,I myself have never been a casual or gone looking for trouble but have on occasion had to defend myself,i am sure most fans have been involved in this sort of incident and therefore at some point been involved in behaviour which would be labelled as football hooliganism.
  18. Try telling Liverpool fans it was casuals that caused the clampdown on standing it was the Hillsbourgh disaster that led to the taylor report that led to all seater stadiums.as for the drinking at games it was the 1980 cup final with the bigot brothers having a rerun of the battle of the Boyne on the pitch at Hampden which brought that law in not casuals.
  19. Just a little note to say it is a good idea, when you are telling someone off for bad use of GRAMMAR to actually get the spelling of the word correct.Cue edit.
  20. Correct,it really depends on how you define being a club hero,is it down to how long you are at the club like Craigan or on a players part in a particularly important incident in a game like Fitzpatricks last minute goal v Hearts or the Jukes last minute goal in the 6-6 game both these players would be club heroes for these goals,or maybe you mean club legends which is a whole different ball game.
  21. I looked him up on google and there is an article with i think a french newspaper "LE BUTEUR" which has an interview with him and a photo of him in well training gear something about having a contract with an algerian team and didnt realise it,hard to make out in the translation, anyway couldnt get a link to work maybe someone could have a look see if they have better luck.
  22. From the comments made by Derek Weir about John Boyle continuing to personally support the club to a massive extent and that this cant go on forever it looks to me that this guy is not being brought in to bring extra income into the club rather he is there to bring exra income in to replace what JB has being putting in.So if this guy being put on the board is a success the main beneficiary will be JB and not the club at least short term.Should be of benefit to club in that they wont have to rely on JBs or any ones else cash in the future but thats about it,dont really see this appointment meaning us being able to afford an extra couple of players being added to the squad, just an extra few quid staying in JBs pocket.
  23. Seen that one, a couple of others were "We are a better team than Murderwell" and"We should never get beat at home v Motherwell,if you look at the wage budgets the difference would be significant"aye i forgot that football matches are decided on players wages.
  24. When we get these double headers it always brings back memories of 1991,when we played Celtic three times in nine days all in Glasgow, the two cup games and a league game at Parkhead,2 wins and a draw, they really were our bitches back then.
  25. Why do you think it took us till 1991 to qualify for europe for the first time? Consider some of the teams we have had in the past and look at the sides that managed to qualify before us Dundee,Kilmarnock,St.johnstone,Morton, even St.mirren first made it in 1980 and the fact we have done it 3 seasons in a row now,is it just down to the rules being changed so that more teams qualify each season or are there other reasons. Its interesting to note that of the current SPL only 2 sides havent qualified at all and we would be the last side to make our debut in 91/92 out of the current 12.
