On a sidenote, it's always nice to think about what could happen if we could hold on to the young guys we develop for their whole careers, i.e. McFadden, Pearson, Clarkson, Quinn, Reynolds, McCormack etc to see where a squad like that could take us, but I'm afraid Motherwell just don't have the resources to fund it, and we're not alone. Hibs would have had a pretty strong squad by now if they'd managed to keep all the guys they've brought through in the 8-10 years.
In some way I agree that it would have been good to keep all these star players over the years. The problem is, if a few of them were already in the team some of the younger ones might never have made the first team. Lets face it, who would we rather have in the team? James McFadden or Ross McCormack??

Just been on the BBC website and noticed that Michael Fraser is not included in the squad for the Aberdeen game. Not that I think he should be playing, but just wondering what has happened to him?
Maybe mutley has signed him up as goallie coach!!!

Forbes for me. A lot more experienced players would have crapped their pants when trying to score that goal. The Romanian player was intent on stopping the shot at all costs .

Why are we still talking about McGhee.He has left and just incase some people were to busy moaning about him and didn't notice,we have got a new manager who has made a great start so why are yous still moaning about our previous manager and not praising our current manager?
I personally am not moaning about. I like to call it gloating as we seam to be moving in the right direction.

I think the difference is JB appears to have planned for that loss of revenue ahead of time and taken fairly drastic and immediate action (even if it meant selling off some good players). Given the state of some other SPL teams, the appointment of Gannon seems even smarter now.
Aberdeen, it appears, had budget plans dependent on TV money, and no Plan B.
It all makes it a good time to be a Well fan...........Well actually it's always a good time to be a well fan.

Its in the Aberdeen Evening Express that he's now demanding talks with Aberdeen directors about how much money he's getting to spend.
It's just been on the Grampian news (yes I get that pish) that the dandy dons need to cut between £600,000 to £1M from there expenditure. They said they need an extra 4,000 fans at every home game, or need to get into the group stages of the europa cup with a big club just to break even. HAHAHAHA
Before anyone shoots me down I know that we will be no better off. It is just soooo much sweeter that it is HIM.!!!

Mcghee seemingly accepted a 40k transfer from Celtic before he left. This was then cancelled when he left as it wasnt complete.
You would be hard pushed to let him leave for less that 500k. Lets get the contract sorted out.
Where did you hear this mate?? If indeed it is true then McDick is a bigger fud than even I thought.

I keep expecting to wake up and it was all a dream. Even now back from the game. I can't believe what I just witnessed!
The first surprise was the named team. The second surprise was the apparently 2-4-4 formation. Admittedly being fortunate not to be 2-0 down in the first couple of minutes wasn't such a surprise but then things went from surprising to wondrous to frankly unbelievable!
And the really great thing about the performance tonight was it wasn't the experienced hands that shone, or the new signings even, it was the young players.
Mike Fraser - 5 Not much to do but still had some butter finger moments.
Jim O'Brien - 4 Not really his fault but as a right back he was heart attack country, let's not do that again. Ever.
Stephen Craigan - 7 Had some tough clashes but bossed it.
Shaun Hutchinson - 6 A little rough around the edges and raw but did reasonably well and capped it off with a goal.
Mark Reynolds - 7 Looked quite comfortable in a left midfield/left back role.
Chris Humphrey - 5 Started off well but faded badly, should have buried an excellent chance in the early stages and went backwards from there.
Steve Jennings - 6 The opposite of Humphrey started off pretty ropey but looked more composed as the match went on.
Ross Forbes - 8 Great display tonight. If he can perform regularly to that standard, a first team place will be his.
Jamie Murphy - 8 The first half was maybe his best 45 minutes in a Well shirt. He's always had the ability but last season he looked lacking in confidence and frankly was going backwards. Greatly encouraged by his performance tonight, he's set a new standard now he has to match that each time he goes out there.
Paul Slane - 9 I don't think I've ever given a 9 before in the three or four seasons I've been scoring the players but Slane is my new hero. I fucking love this kid! He's got the technique, the pace, a good brain, he works hard, he's got a bit of aggro about him and what I loved most of all was his reaction to being subbed - you just knew he loved every minute of being out their in a Well shirt. Bravo, Mr Slane, bravo! MoM for the second time in two matches.
John Sutton - 6 Won the penalty and did a decent enough job tonight acting almost as a decoy while Murphy and Slane came in from the flanks.

Robert McHugh - 6 His goal was a gift but showed some promise with some intelligent runs.
Jonathan Page - 4 Came on to a dead match.
Keith Lasley - 5 Tigerish as usual but the match was over by that stage.
Mate your post fills me full of hope for the future. It reminds me of when I first saw a young Faddy and could not stop raving about him.
